  • Movies set in early 1900s/Depression?

I have to do a movie trailer for "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" for English. We're allowed to use clips from real movies, but NOT clips from actual adaptations of the book (so I can't use clips from the old movie of ATGIB). So, I'm looking for movies that feature poor families in the early 1900s or the Great Depression. Specifically, I'd like films that have young female protagonists (like the novel).

    So far I have:

    -Cinderella Man

--Meet me in St. Louis: scene where Esther dances with her boyfriend

    -Angela’s ashes

    -Secret Garden

    -Narnia

    To kill a mockingbird

a little princess : scenes where she walks in the street

Any other ideas?? 10 points :)

  • Knee pain, right knee?

So a few years ago I had a prepatellar bursectomy on my right knee. It was kind of painful this year so I went through physio for like 5 months. it's been feeling great ever since, pretty much no pain. the other day I was just kind of moving my legs around while I was waiting for something. I moved my right shin outward (as in to my right side, abduction) a bit with my knee bent, and I got a bit of pain. Now, it's been kind of achy/painful and it's hard for me to turn my leg outward. Any ideas what might be wrong?

  • What is the point of inverse functions?

I understand what they are and how to work with them, but do they have any point? It seems like anything we use the inverse function for could really just be used with the original function. Are there any real-life applications of inverse functions, besides in trig?

  • Picture riddle: 6 discs into rows with 4 each?

You have 6 disc arranged into 2 rows:

    0 0 0 0

    0

0 You must put 4 in each row without adding more discs??

    I can't figure this out...

p.s. I'm not sure if it's just a play on words, and you actually put a 4 in each row. I THINK it's literal, though.

  • Need a song for a powerpoint about a charity?

For a group project we have to do a powerpoint about a local charity. My group is doing one about a Christian organization that helps poor kids. We have a movie/picture slideshow part, and we want to have music for the background. It should be serious and either sad or uplifting (to describe the situation of poor kids plus how the charity helps them). We so far have, as a possibility, the refrain of "candle in the wind" by elton john. Any ideas for other good songs?

  • question about minutes in a year?

OK, so if you calculate minutes in an hour x hours in a day x days in a year, you get

    60 x 24 x 365 =525, 600 minutes in a year (like the rent song.)

BUT when I googled minutes in a year, the google calculator says 525 948.766 minutes,

    WHY? who is correct?

  • About grade 9 math EQAO? What does this mean?

I'm writing the grade 9 eqao math test next week, and I've heard eqao is tough. I'm really good at math, but I know ppl who are great at math and failed eqao. My teacher told us to try writing the old eqao tests from the website, as practice for the test. I wrote a few old tests, and got 100 on all of them. Was this because the really hard questions were omitted in the sample books? Does it mean I'm going to do well, or am I psyching myself out?
