Why does my A-28 v-belt measure 29 1/2" outer length?
I need to order more belts, but every chart I look at says an A-28 belt measures 30" outer length. I thought my belts were already a bit stretched, and may originally have been even smaller... perhaps 29" or 29.2"... both are size filters on the fastenal website. The belt I currently have are some asian brand called First Rope...can't even find reference on the web. But they do say A-28. My parts list in the manual calls for A28 belts.

1 AnswerOther - Health1 decade agoI have a '99 Tacoma and the check engine light is coming on...but turning off when the truck warms up fully?
My check engine light usually comes on when I start the truck if it's been sitting more than a day or two, especially if it's cold outside. If I drive before the truck is fully heated up to it's normal operating temperature, it shudders a lot and if I try to accelerate hard the check engine light flashes. It also smells really rich. Once I drive for a bit and get fully warmed up, the light usually turns off. I haven't put it on a code reader yet but any preliminary ideas?

While cooking I added some salsa( about 1/4 jar) then realized it was moldy. I could not fish it out so I sooked it really well and then put the dish in the oven for a while. Is it going to kill us? LOL
5 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoHow can you trim table top epoxy?
I'm building a dining room table and coating it with a table top epoxy like you would find in a bar or restaurant. The epoxy is called Kleer Koat. My table has a removable leaf that I want the edges of to mate tight with the other parts of the table... wood to wood. Same thing with the table edges without the leaf in. I've never used this epoxy and they say amateurs should let the epoxy run over the edges of the surface and it will self level to about 1/8" thick. For experienced users damming edges is an option. If I don't dam the edge, how can I trim the epoxy flush to the mating edges of the table and leaf without damaging the clarity of the epoxy? Or if I decide to try and dam the edge, is there any way I can smooth the corner if a splash fin occurs?

I saw an American flag yesterday raised to the top of the pole but the flag was mounted sideways, with the stars at the top and against the pole, but the stripes running vertical. What does this mean?

2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoHow can I get an air quality sample at my workplace without my employer knowing?
The air quality is very poor in my workplace. I have worked here for over ten years and only very recently did they offer me a respirator. Now they want me to go to the doctor and get signed off that I have a properly working respirator. I'm pretty sure they falsified the results of the one test the EPA had us do by operating on a very limited basis during the test. I don't want to jeopardize my job in any way, but I want to get a proper air sample to keep for my records should any respiratory problems arise in the future. I know a company cannot fire an employee for this reason, but as I live in a right to work state, they can certainly find a reason.

4 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoWhy won't my flame stay on in my natural gas furnace?
I have a fairly new furnace, about 5 years old or so, with a digital thermostat. It won't stay on lately and I took a look at it... the flame comes on for about 5 seconds then immediately shuts off. The fan continues to blow the non heated air for awhile, then the process starts over.
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoMy natural gas furnace won't stay on when I turn up the thermostat?
My furnace will kick on for a few minutes, then turn off again. It's supposed to automatically turn on when the temp drops more than 2 degrees below what it's set at but lately it's been letting it get down to 6 or 7 below the set temp. Any ideas why this might be?

My daughter got a Fisher Price Bounce 'n' Spin Pony for her 1st birthday and it's her favorite toy but it has been getting louder and louder every day. It's the most annoying thing in the world! The pony bounces up and down on a plastic shaft and the pony itself is plastic too. What would work to help it stop squeaking?

3 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoHow is it possible to get nearly double shrink on a grey iron casting?
Textbook shrink for cast grey iron is 1/8" per foot. That means that a 5 foot casting should have 5/8" extra material built into the pattern. I recently made a casting that was supposed to shrink to 59 15/16" x 29 31/32". I made the pattern 60 9/16" x 30 9/32". It is flat, with some decorative aspects to it as it is a tree grate for the base of the tree in a sidewalk. The casting shrunk to 59 3/8" x 29 11/16". That equates nearly 1/4" per foot shrink. Any ideas how this might be possible?
