  • Need help picking an accounting paper topic?

I have to pick an accounting topic for a paper due at the end of the semester. I want to my topic to be original (i.e. not about Enron), but I am having trouble thinking of a topic. It could be anything at all, as long as it relates to accounting and I can write a 5 page paper on it.

  • For those against closing Guantanamo?

For those that say it's a bad idea, why so? We have kept these people without putting them to trial and sentencing them as would normally be done. If they had committed mass murder as some would suggest, why haven't they been sentenced yet? It can't be for information because a lot of terrorist intel is very time sensitive. If they wanted to keep them for what they know, then why not sentence them if they have sufficient proof. Apparently they had sufficient proof to arrest them, but not to convict them. The only reason people released from guantanamo would become terrorists is because we treated them like sh** and we weren't smart enough to give them a trial so we could sentence them and keep them locked up. If all of the people in guantanamo are confirmed terrorists, why haven't we sentenced them, therefore making it impossible for Obama to release them?

Then why do the last two drops go in the pants no matter how much you wiggle and dance? Seems like he forgot to install a proper shutoff valve.

  • Interested in astronomy, where can I find more resources?

I'm taking a course in physical science, and the last section of the book is on the solar system. I find this section to be very interesting, and I would like to get more acquainted with this subject. Are there any good websites and/or books that I should check out (remember that I'm very limited in my knowledge at this point)?

  • Who honestly thinks Obama is going to completely ruin our country?

Who out there thinks we are going to become a socialist state, or ever worse become a fascist country under our current President (Obama)? Our economy has suffered enough under the Bush administration, why can't we accept that changing the way the government works is a good thing?

  • Need help with a statistics probability question?

The director of a health club conducted a survey and found that 23% of members used only the poll for workouts. Based on this information, what is the probability that for a random sample of 10 members, 4 used only the pool for workouts?

I'm not sure how to get started on this question, any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Statistics problem on probabilities?

You roll two fair dice, a blue one and a yellow one

Find the probability of rolling an even number on the blue die and a 3 on the yellow die.

    I did the following 3/6 x 1/6 = 3/36 or 8%

My professor marked the question wrong on my test, so I'm wondering if I did it wrong or my professor accidentally marked it as a wrong answer, because I don't know how else to do it. I need the feedback so I can bring this to his attention in class tonight.

  • Need help with basic kinetic energy question?

If an object has kinetic energy, then it also must have

    A) Impulse

    B) Momentum

    C) Mass

    D) Inertia

    E) None of the above

My way of thinking is that since the object has mass and velocity (since it must be moving to have kinetic energy), then the answer must be momentum.

  • Help with a physics question?

A moving object on which no forces are acting will continue to move with constant

    A)Momentum

    B)Impulse

    C)Acceleration

I'm thinking that the answer is momentum, since the equation for momentum=mass x speed. Since the mass is obviously unchanged, and there are no forces acting upon it, inertia keeps the speed constant. I'm not sure of the answer, so I wanted to check my logic with somebody else.

  • Calculus help finding derivatives?

    r(x)= (1-2x)/(x^3-5)^2

Having a little trouble figuring this one out, any help is appreciated (I have what the answer is supposed to be, but I didn't get it right).

  • Physics question regarding acceleration?

A bullet is dropped from a very high bridge. At the same time, a bullet is fired straight down into the water. Neglecting air resistance, the acceleration just before striking the water is

    A) The same for each bullet

    B) Greater for the dropped bullet

    C) Greater for the fired bullet

I'm thinking the answer is A, because even though the fired bullet has greater speed, once gravity starts pulling it, it will accelerate equally with the dropped bullet. So their speeds before hitting the water may be different, but their rate of gain will be equal. I'm not sure if I'm right, and wanted to get a someone else's opinion.

  • What is the "War on Terror"?

What is its scope, and what is its objective? The objective can't be to actually end terrorism, because that goal will never realized. When will we be done spending money on the war on terror? Will it be as unsuccessful as the war on drugs? Who thinks that a new approach besides kill everyone that doesn't think the same way we do is necessary?

  • Who else thinks the Pickens plan is prohibitively expensive?

My question isn't meaning that I don't care about our energy problems or the environment, but it seems like his plan would just cost too much to implement. Generating electricity through wind, increasing drilling, building cars that run on natural gas, and then getting everyone to drive such cars that use natural gas. That seems like an awful lot of money going into a transitional phase of getting us less dependent on oil. I want a solution as much as anyone else, but it seems to me that by the time we spend all of the money on the infrastructure and get people driving cars run by natural gas, we would have already developed even more efficient ways of generating power.

  • Is Beethoven's 9th in the public domain?

I wanted to download the song, but I'm not sure if it is in the public domain. Obviously the music is in the public domain, but are the performances themselves?
