  • Can I always pay an overweight baggage charge?

    Hi,

I'm just wondering if it's a possibility that an airline will reject overweight baggage instead of charging the fee? I'm flying on asiana airlines economy class and want to go over the limit. I checked the website and it seems like I should be allowed (provided it's still under 32kg) but I'm scared I'll turn up and not be allowed to pay the overweight fee and have to take stuff out.

Has anyone ever had their baggage rejected or had experience with paying the overweight charge with asiana?

Thanks so much to any replies :)

  • Filipino debut - what to wear?

    Hi,

I've been invited to a filipino debut as a normal guest alongside my family and I have NO IDEA what to wear. I don't really know the birthday girl which is why I can't just ask her and my mum didn't have one when she was a teenager so she's not 100% either.

Could anyone please post examples of appropriate dresses to wear to this assuming that there is no particular theme?

  • Phrase for when people leave a country due to high tax rates?

    Hi,

I'm writing an economics essay and I'm looking for a phrase which describes how high earners may emigrate due to the high income tax rate in their original country. I'm pretty sure my teacher has used a phrase describing this before but I didn't write it down, it's probably two words? nonetheless, I'll be happy with any phrase you can offer.

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies!

  • What size/type dumbbell should I buy?

I'm female and about 5ft and 45kg. My arms are really weak and I haven't used a dumbbell before.

Also if you could recommend how many sets and reps I should do that would be great.

    Thanks! :)

  • Relationship between coronary heart disease, angina, heart failure and heart attack?

I don't quite understand this. Are any of these correct?

    1) Angina, heart failure and heart attack are symptoms of coronary heart disease

    2) Angina, heart failure and heart attack are types of coronary heart disease

    3) Angina, heart failure and heart attack are caused by coronary heart disease

    4) Angina, heart failure and heart attack are steps of coronary heart disease

If not then can anyone please explain to me how they are related. I have read my textbook and class notes and have googled it already and am still confused.

Thanks to anyone who helps :)

    Hiya,

I'm trying to make notes on organelles because my teacher's useless. I took this diagram from an ocr past paper and am unable to identify all of the parts of this animal cell. Some parts may be the same type of organelle (e.g. M and O).

Please help me identify them A to P.

Thanks to anyone who helps! x

  • Does size affect the rate at which something sinks?

Say two objects have the same density but one is bigger, will the bigger one sink quicker? Or does it only depend on density?

  • Tension in a string - a-level physics?

Hiya, this is an as-level physics question. I've been alright with the easier questions but am stuck with this and there are a few more after this, so I'd appreciate more of a method rather than a straightforward answer.

    The question:

A framed picture of weight 15N is to be hung on a wall, using a piece of string. The ends of the string are tied to two points, 0.6m apart on the same horizontal level, on the back of the picture. Draw a free body force diagram for the picture and find the tension in the string if the string is 1m long.

I'm quite sure that my diagram is fine, so I just need help with the second part of the question.

I'm really confused also if t(in a diagram) ension in a string is parallel to the string or is the vertical component.

THANKYOU SO MUCH ANYONE WHO HELPS! :)

  • If I got 99% for my coursework, do I still need to pass the exam?

    Hiya,

Basically I did really well on my coursework for ICT because I find that part easy but in all my past papers I've got less than 50% for the exam. My teacher, who is awful, told me that even though I should get an A* as coursework counts for 75%, I won't get the grade if I don't pass the exam. Is this true??

The exam's tomorrow and I feel like I don't know anything! It would be so much less stressful if I knew that this was just another one of the things that he tells us that isn't true.

    Thanks anyone who answers! x

  • Wembley Arena - Are tickets for block S2/N2 good?

I'd really like an answer from anyone who has been there as I can see from the seating plan that the block is beside the stage. I'm wondering if the view is blocked or if there are any negatives to it? I know that in the O2 arena they don't usually use seats around this area because you can't see anything unless the stage is in the middle of the arena but I can't remember what it's like at Wembley.

    Thanks! x

  • Which Uggs Should I Buy? 10 points?

You can look at the ones I like here:

    http://www.polyvore.com/which_uggs_should_get/set?...

I want to be able to wear them with a lot of my stuff. I wear a lot of shorts (mostly denim), jeans and sometimes sweats. Most of my clothes are from hollister (I have LOADS of plaid shirts from there as well), victoria's secret pink and river island.

Also if you can say what you think they would look cute with, that would be great.

    Thanks! x

PS. The colours I like are the same as in the pictures

  • Should I drop GCSE Greek? 10 points?

    Pros of dropping..

    1. I will get study periods that will allow me extra time for other subjects and a lot less homework for home

    2. I am completely confused during every class (seriously, every class it feels like i've been forced into some random lesson which i've had no prior experience in)

    3. My school will allow me

    4. My dad says that he will support my decision

    5. Dropping Greek will help improve other subjects because all the time that I spend doing Greek hw and revision will go to other subjects

    6. I HATE THE SUBJECT AND MY TEACHER

    7. Greek has like a billion different endings that I don't think I will ever be able to learn and even though I'm okay with the vocabulary, I don't even know like the basic endings that well

    8. Even if I did carry on I intend on forgetting the whole subject as soon as I've finished the exam for it

    Cons of dropping...

    1. I only started it a year ago (I'm going into yr11 now)

    2. I don't want to quit something just because it's getting hard

    3. I dropped latin to do greek (don't comment on the subjects :P) a year ago just because the teacher was unbearably boring, despite the fact it was the subject i got the best grades in

    4. I'm doing 11 GCSEs at the moment, which is the normal people in my school are doing. In school, english lit; english language; maths; science; science; language; humanity (R.S. geog or history); option; option is required (the options are of any other subject) and you get the option of taking another one as well, which is what I've done. About 1/3 the year also take additional maths, and I'm one of those people. In general, the only people in my school who haven't taken an extra option in school are those who are doing one out of school.

    5. My brother did 13 (we are ridiculously competitive) but I'm doing bronze and silver D of E which he didn't do

    6. I got 84% in the last end-of-year exam, but the exam was NOTHING like class is

    7. I feel like although my dad says he supports whatever my decision is, a few months ago when I asked him if I could drop it he said that I couldn't because it's ridiculous to quit things just because it's hard and I think that he will be disappointed in me if I drop it

    8. I feel like I haven't tried hard enough to carry on with it. I revise it occasionally but not that much and the work isn't that much atm but later on when I have to catch up I will have A LOT of work and will have to spend so much time on it. I KNOW this will happen.

    9. I will be really proud of myself if I carry it through (but thinking about that makes me want to hurl)

The thing is, if my brother did only (e.g.) 8 GCSEs, I wouldn't think twice about dropping.

If I do drop it, it needs to be at the beginning of term (one week from now) because otherwise my school probably won't let me drop it and also it would be a further waste of time.

    SORRY IT'S SO LONG!

  • I love the song 'Radio Ga Ga' by Queen, but the meaning...?

I know that it's about the takeover of TV from radio and how great radio is and how people really used to appreciate it. However, if you call something 'gaga' isn't that like calling it nonsense? Like the lyrics even say 'Radio blah blah', implying the radio just says babble. Or is it referring to people saying bad things about the radio?

    Thanks x

  • Where's the best place for teens to shop in Bangkok?

I'm 15 and I'm going to Bangkok in a couple weeks and I was told it's a good place to buy stuff but I'm unsure where to go. I want to buy clothes mostly, and I want to see some familiar brands as well as cool new stuff (I can go to multiple places if necessary). My favourite brand is Victoria's Secret Pink so if anyone knows a place where they sell that cheap then I'd be soooooo happy!

Preferably inexpensive as well, cause that's the main reason why I want to buy there instead of just here, as well as to get some clothes that I can't find here in London.

    Thanks! x
