I have been researching hotels close to St. Mark's and keep seeing other really great deals in the Mestre & Lido areas. How far away / difficult are these areas from the main center of Venice? Is it worth staying a little farther out for a nicer hotel? Looking for something w/canal / water views and don't want to spend (waste) time on trains & buses getting to and from sights & attractions.

I know this seems simple- but I can seriously screw up very simple tasks and do not want to loose any work stuff.

I am asking here because 1. This seems to be where the adults are and 2. Although I am thinking in terms of interpersonal relationships specifically, I think it would be interesting to apply the question to religious beliefs as well. As in where is the line between free will (choice) and fear (ultimatum).

My daughter (19) is suffering her first real heartbreak. He is doing all the typical juvenile stuff boys do before they to learn to break up respectfully (no calls, flaking on plans, ignoring messages...) she is heart sick and powerless and I don't know what to do for her. They have been friends since grade school, share the same friends and were planning on moving in together. What I need help with is what to say and how to help her. All the cliche's just hurt worse. Plus, I want to wring the little jerks neck myself! I just thought he would treat her better than this.
