Cogito, ergo Deus non est
There are no such things as stupid questions... just stupid people with questions. Reality has a well-known liberal bias.
If god gave us Free Will?
y, then why did he let Michael Jackson sing on the soundtrack?
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoHow do you reconcile the god of the OT with the god of the New?
My personal theory: god was a raging alcoholic, then went to AA. Which begs the question, what is god's "higher power?"

5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf you think that the bible is the inerrant, inspired word of god, why do you feel that way?
Does the fact that the earliest copies we have are not the originals, but copies made many years later affect you in any way? And does the fact that there are thousands of documented discrepancies and errors between those early copies we have make you pause and think?
Keep in mind: these are facts proven by biblical scholars the world over for many, many years. So what say you?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDo you think some people will hide when the rapture doesn't occur?
You know, to make people think they were raptured... or to get out of paying bills due after 5/21?

Arizona doesn't observe daylight savings time, but some Native American Reservations in the area do. So... how does that work? Does it hit the reservations about an hour before the rest of Arizona?

9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHas anybody else ever gotten burnt out on playing?
I started playing the sax when I was 10. I was the lead in high school, and majored in music in college. If I can say so without sounding like a braggart, I was pretty good. At least, I had a lot of natural talent, and I went to the college I did because the sax teacher kind of fell all over himself to get me to go there, and it was a pretty good music school.
At some point in college I stopped really enjoying playing music. Part of it was I got really discouraged when I discovered I was terrible at music theory, something that's kind of integral for a jazz musician. Some of it was wanting to be young and dumb, having fun and goofing off rather than practicing all day. But the rest... I don't know.
Since then I've not seriously played in about 8 years, and hardly ever pull out my horn. Part of me misses it, but most of me is somehow afraid to start playing again. Also, I have this weird thing where I hate people hearing me practice. I live in a studio apartment with no practice space available anywhere near me.
So did anyone ever get burnt out for years? How did you get over it?
Thanks!
2 AnswersJazz1 decade agoChristians: Why do many of you not research your own religion?
Most Christians I know never look beyond what's written in the Bible and what they're told by their spiritual leaders. Many of them don't even really know what the Bible actually says, they have false ideas that they do not research. I know many agnostics or atheists who can quote the Bible far better than many Christians.
Most seminaries teach what is called "historical-critical" analysis of the Bible. This means that they actually read it line by line, question who was writing it and what their intent was, how there are discrepancies and contradictions throughout the bible, and how that relates to the historical context of the times. But then they don't pass these teachings on, and their followers are sort of... misled, I would say.
So what gives? Is it fear of questioning faith? Refusal to acknowledge that there might be other answers out there? Insecurity?
And please, don't tell me all about how the Bible is the infallible word of God. That's been proven time and again to be untrue, by secular and non-secular scholars alike.
