  • Is this something a DIYer can handle or should I seek professional help?

Currently I have a shower over the bath tub set up. However the tiles around a very wet area are cracked which is causing a leak reappearing in my kitchen!

Also water runs out of the bath onto floor creating a puddle on the floor. There’s no shower screen only a curtain, and if it’s not positioned correctly, the water runs out. I don’t think that’s helping either.

What I was thinking about doing is installing these pvc panels directly over the tiles and a fixed shower screen. To solve the root of the problems. And I figured the floor will be ok...

As for the kitchen where the leak appeared I cut a hole in the ceiling to drain it. I figured once I’m satisfied the leak will no long appear I’ll just patch up the hole and re plaster. Might even wang that cladding stuff up on the ceiling too.

So back to the question, the only difficult bit I foresee is removing the electric shower and re installing it once the pvc panels are up. The panel I’m looking at is 10mm thick. Ideally I want to put the shower back where it was but finding the exact holes in the wall will be a mission I think. Plus there’s the fixed water pipe, will it be ok now that the shower will sit 10mm further out than before. The panels are essentially hollow too I’m a bit concerned about when I start fixing bits to the wall.

I’m just after a general insight into these panels, any experience you’ve had good or bad that you think might guide me will be greatly appreciated.

  • Why am I suddenly getting lots of condensation on cold water taps?

I have very recently finished installing my brand new kitchen. I fitted it all myself using YouTube videos to guide me along the way. I removed an old hydronic plinth heater, using stop ends to cap it off. I replaced my existing stop **** which was leaking ever so slightly. And I had to cut down the copper water feeds to allow room for my new sink, I made the connections by using jg speedfit flexible hoses. Everything looks solid but now I am getting a lot of condensation along the cold water pipe. This never happened before and I’m a baffled as to what I’ve done to cause it. It all seems to of started now after I’ve installed the jg speedfit connections. All the water was off for around 2 weeks while I worked on the installation of the kitchen. Have I messed up somewhere along the line ?

  • Is my wiring safe?

I have wired up a new modern ceiling light to where my existing rose light was. The new unit only required a live and neutral feed whereas the rose fitting had 8 wires. Live, neutral and earth cables. As a work around I was able to make use of the existing rose light terminals and fit my new ceiling light over the top of it. I seen the proper fitting would require me to get a junction box but my question is, is it still necessary? I am not a spark but competent enough to do the work. Am I best to head off to screw fox and get the proper components or will it suffice? Note: everything appears to be fine, all lights are coming off and on as they should, the unit is flush against the ceiling.

  • How can i get my girl to like me?

We've been dating for a month now and a few times we've been getting intimate and i'll start to get somewhere (or at least i think i am) and then BAM she wacks my hand away and say NO. At first i kinda liked the chase its was really hot so i indulged her, took her out, bought her flowers i even met her family! i must have spent minimum 500 so far. I just want my moneys worth so im not willing to give in just yet. I was thinking about maybe telling her im leaving for war or some bs? You know like in them lame movies, somehow guilt her into accepting my 2 inches of chaos. But i don't really want to feel guilty about it. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? How did you get your btch to put out?

  • Do I get back with my ex?

I'm 21 and we have a 15 month old daughter together. We split 8 months ago and it wasn't the easiest of break ups. there was no real reason for the split other than if I'm honest were both too young for the responsibility we now have. Since we split we have both done things either of us isn't proud of. she's currently seeing a guy that has threatened me on numerous occasions just because we have a child together and he's jealous of that. She says the only reason there together is because she took out a loan in his name and knows if they spilt before its paid she won't get a penny for it. we've both spoke about getting back together and agree we want to but all of that really puts me off. And I suppose when I think about it life is alot simpler without her she was alot of hard work. But I still think about her sometimes I know I still have feelings for her. What should I do?

  • Will this help me get a mortgage?

I'm a first time buyer looking to take advantage of the home buy scheme. Basically means I only need a 4 grand deposit. I have only made initial enquiries online but it seems my bank is only willing to lend me around 50 grand when I need 70. I intend to rent a room out and wondered if this will be classed as extra income as that would boost me to my 70 grand mortgage. Also I wondered if that does work out how much would the tax man take from me if I rented the room at 300pcm? Thanks folks!

  • How long till I'm in the army?

I'm 20 years old and its safe to say that so far in my life I have accomplished nothing. The armed forces has always seemed appealing but I've never given it serious thought until now.

Now lets say that tomorrow morning I go down to my local recruitment centre and sign up to the quickest thing to get me out of this hell hole I call home. Assuming that I pass the fitness and medical tests how long till I'm off doing my basic training?
