Words & Wordplay4 years agoWhat is the color of a singularity?
Singularities at the centers of black holes I believe are colorless, but was the singularity at the beginning of the universe also colorless? I think it was for the following reason. Every particle in the universe was contained in that single point. So, no photons could be sent into space because then the singularity wouldn't contain every particle.

5 AnswersPolitics4 years agoConservation of momentum - explosion?
An object with mass m slides across a frictionless table at speed V in the positive x direction. It breaks into two pieces. The first piece has a mass m1 and moves a speed of v1 in the direction of θ counter- clockwise to the positive x direction. What is the velocity vector of the other piece?
I did this problem but I am not too sure I did it correctly.
First I started out with the physical principal of momentum:
p1 = p2
Then summed the momentums of the two pieces and set it equal to the initial momentum
mv = (m1 v1) + (m2 v2)
Next, I canceled the masses and split the velocities into their x and y components.
Vx + 0y =[ V1cos(θ)x + V1sin(θ)y ] + [ V2sos(θ)x + V2sin(θ)y ]
I subtracted V1
[ Vx + 0y ] - [ V1cos(θ)x + V1sin(θ)y ] = [ V2sos(θ)x + V2sin(θ)y ]
V2 = [ Vx + 0y ] - [ V1cos(θ)x + V1sin(θ)y ]
Then I used Pythagorean Theorem to get the velocity.
Would this be a correct way to solve for the V2?
Thank you.
1 AnswerPhysics5 years agoQuantum mechanics question.?
If atoms are made of nuclei with orbiting electrons, and nuclei are made up of the collision of neutrons and protons, and neutrons and protons are made up of quarks, what are quarks made of and how did they form during the beginning of the universe? Or is this one of science's unanswered questions?

1 AnswerChemistry5 years agoHave a grammar question.?
Water is not uncommon in the universe. Frozen water that is.
What punctuation should I use to combine that into one sentence. I do not believe "Frozen water that is" is a sentence anyways. Should I use a comma, or would a semicolon work?
Let me know if you need more context to answer.
Thanks.

The Red Sox have struck out 11 batters in a row so far. I know the single pitcher record is 10 strikeouts in a row, but there is more than one pitcher that has participated in this streak so far this game.
