Is "How to Train Your Dragon" good in 3d?
I haven't seen a 3d movie in theaters for awhile, and the ones I've seen as rentals (such as Coraline) were pretty terrible in 3d. The colors were messed up, caused headaches, etc.
Is How to Train Your Dragon worth seeing in 3d?
4 AnswersMovies1 decade agoWill my computer run BFBC2?
I tried system requirements lab, and it says that my CPU doesn't even reach minimum.
This is a rather old computer, but I'm wondering if I won't be able to play at all.
I've got Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz
But, it says I need at least Intel Pentium D 3.0 GHz/Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.0 GHz
Aren't these... very similar?
3 AnswersVideo & Online Games1 decade agoIf you were shot in the hand...?
I'm curious as to some details about gun wounds. It's relevant for something I'm writing.
If you were shot point blank in the hand, how long would it take you to bleed to death? What lasting damage would you have even after you healed? Would your fingers be able to function normally?
Thank you~ =)
1 AnswerInjuries1 decade agoWhich point of view should I use?
I've been planning to write a little something in my spare time. I already have the plot line and most of the characters decided. However, I can't choose which point of view to write the story in, which character, and in what tense.
So, what types of stories to you enjoy the most? First person or third person? Past or present tense? Do you like it when a story switches between characters, perhaps alternating each chapter? Do you prefer the main character to be male or female? Stuff like that.
Thank you~ :D
5 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoWhat are the biggest cliches in novels?
What, in your opinion, are the biggest cliches in novels? Could be of any genre - let's use fantasy for an example. Elf princesses, the 'bad guy' is secretly/obviously related to the hero, dwarves with scottish accents who are drunkards, and perhaps erotic, gothic, and simply beautiful vampires are a bit of a cliche as well.
Your thoughts?
4 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoWhat's your favorite genre/type of book?
I'm curious as to what everyone is interested in. Personally, I like horror, fantasy and supernatural/paranormal books - although I've grown bored of vampire-related stories lately. Currently I'm reading 'Cujo' by Stephen King, and well, so far, it seems like the perfect book for me.
What do you like?
6 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoWhat do you think of this story introduction?
It's always hard to find a way to start out a novel. This is my attempt - the first paragraph in my story. It's not suppose to reveal TOO much about the plot, but it gives somewhat of an idea about what's going to happen. It's written in first person.

Spring comes slowly to the city of Asthah – it creeps up through the frozen ground and spreads warmth across the landscape. The birds return from their migrations and nest where they can, living underneath bridges and atop buildings. Walking along the busy streets, perhaps a lonely business man would hear the chirps of a sparrow and be reminded of his lost connection with nature as he stepped out into the street. He would look at the potted plants displayed in windowsills and breathe in deeply, his body aching for air untainted by city smog. However, such an opportunity is now a very rare luxury. Asthah. What a silly name. A named derived from a word which means ‘faith’. This place is a very popular tourist attraction, full of wealth and prosperity, respected for its educational system and dedication to the arts, all run by a stable government. Surely everyone here is living the modern American Dream. However, like with most things in life, you have to dig a little deeper in order to reveal the truth. Sometimes in the most literal interpretation.

Do you like reading books written in first or third person? Does it change based on what the book is about? Why do you like it that way? Just curious.
9 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoIs this story idea too cliche/overused?
I've been interesting in writing a novel, however for the longest time I haven't been able to settle on a plot. Now I've got an idea that refuses to leave my mind, and I want to write a story based off of it. I'm concerned it's too 'unoriginal', however. I'll give a basic outline of what it's about.
-- Around 1700, a genetic mutation began to infect the human race - causing some people to become what can only be described as 'vampires'. Those with the mutation are plagued by acute anemia and an uncontrollable thirst for blood. They have pale skin, which is very sensitive to UV radiation; too much exposure can kill them rather easily. Most of them also have a life-threatening allergy to silver. Although their senses are slightly sharper than an average person, they don't seem to have super strength or agility, the ability to transform into animals, immortality, mind-reading powers, or hardly any of the supernatural qualities that vampires are known to have. One can not be turned into a vampire through a bite, you'd have to be born one.
Now it's 2012, and the autocratic country of Astha is split into two regions - The Surface, and The Underground. The humans live on The Surface, the basic world we know today, living their daily life with little to no concern about the vampires. The vampires live in their own constructed cities within underground tunnels below the human cities. They're treated as nothing more than rats, banned from venturing into the open air, less they pay with a penalty of death.
The story revolves around a human girl, during a time where the vampires begin to revolt against their poor treatment - claiming they deserve the same rights as humans, and she manages gets caught up within the conflict.

Your opinions, ideas, thoughts and critiques would be appreciated. Should I get to work on writing this, or should I scrap it completely?
1 AnswerBooks & Authors1 decade agoWhat is an Evangelical?
I've seen some people posting here on R&S that they are Evangelical... now, I know this has something to do with Christianity, but I don't really know the details. Can someone help clear it up for me, what they are and what they believe in?
Just to make things clear, I'm not a Christian. I'm not of any religion that R&S knows of.

2 AnswersFish1 decade agoCleaning an old fish tank...?
I have a 20gal fish tank that hasn't been used in a long time. Lately I decided that I wanted to keep some fish again. So, I went into the attic and found my tank and my supplies. My decorations, fake plants, filter, heater... pretty much everything is covered in a thin, white mineral deposit. I could clean it off of things that I could soak, such as my decorations...
However, I can't really get it off the sides of my tank. I scrubbing it off with a toothbrush and some vinegar, but that barely did any work. x_x It's a very thin layer, and although I don't really think it's that big of a deal, it makes the glass look cloudy and unsightly.
Does anyone have any ways that I could get this off my tank, without using harsh chemicals?
6 AnswersFish1 decade agoWould a lone betta fish be alright in a 20 gallon tank?
I have a 20gal that hasn't been used for awhile. I've been thinking about getting a single betta and letting it have the tank all to itself. Would this tank require filtering? How often would I have to clean it? Would the betta be alright in this sort of tank?
7 AnswersFish1 decade agoHow can I convince my parents to let me get a bird? ?
Hey there, I have a bit of a dilemma. I'm an avid bird lover; they're my favorite animal, and I've wanted one for a pet for years now. I'm 14, and I currently have a dog and a cat which I take care of.
I've done a lot of research on the type of bird I want (budgerigar). I've got a few books on them, I've looked at plenty of websites, and I've talked to friends and teachers who have had birds before as pets. I think a bird would be a great companion for me. The bird would be mine. I would take full responsibility for it - my parents would hardly even have to see it.
I've bothered my parents about this for a long, long time. Always, their answer has just been "No". Occasionally, when I try to pry them for a reason, they say, "Because this is my house, and I don't want a bird in this house." I asked my parents if there was anything I could do to change their minds. My mom told me, "It has nothing to do with the money, or your level of responsibility. We just don't like birds."
I respect them and their feelings towards this, but is there anything that I can do to try and change their mind?

So, I have a game that's downloading right now. It seems to go up 7% every 30 minutes. Right now it's at 18%. How long (hours) will it take to get to 100%? For some reason I can't figure this out.
8 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoFound two clear, rice-sized bugs in my hair...?
The other day I was running my fingers through my hair, and something got stuck under my fingernail. After closer inspection, I saw that it was a small clear insect, with darker intestines. I'm hoping they aren't lice. They seem too big...
I didn't think much of it, but today I found another one. Does anyone know what these might be?
