Rule303
I have been asked to explain "Rule 303" so here goes: The term comes from one of my all time favorite movies "Breaker Morant." Harry Morant is being grilled about his methods in dealing with Beor prisoners. The court wanted to know what rule he followed...Morants response, " Oh, No; it was not quite so handsome as this. As to rules and regulations, we had no Red Book, and knew nothing about them. We were out fighting the Boers, not sitting comfortably behind barb-wire entanglements; As for rules! we got them and shot them under Rule 303!" Refering, of course to the 303 cal. Enfield. I love that line, plus it fits easier than "Shoot straight you bastards - Don't make a mess of it!"

If you had to choose a mission to land on either Europa or Enceladus to probe the "oceans" for possible life, which one would you choose?

Was anyone else as shocked as I was to find out that the suspect in custody for the attempted car bomb has ties to a Muslim group? WOW I would have never thunk it for one second.

6 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoJust a "fun" hypothetical question regarding radio astronomy?
Ok, IF a signal is received and the patterns indicate that it is an intentional attempt to communicate from some other civilization, What then? How do you communicate? Who will represent "Earth" in any dialogue that could (lets just say) be understood. Have fun with this one.

Since 200,000 is more than enough (at least by public opinion trends and political rhetoric) should state lottery winnings be cut off at this limit?

1 AnswerGobierno1 decade agoJust curious, who votes in the proxys?
The US federal government owns over 60% of GM and the Canadian government owns around 12%. I was just wondering, WHO sends in the proxy votes per share? or, does this not apply? I have yet to have heard this discussed.

Earlier I decided to start the "only true" religion. Now I need detractors to give me spiritual street cred. Here are a few basic tenets:
1. You can find your life purpose at Wal-Mart if you are taught how to find it.
2. Truth may be found on every bag of Crunchy Cheddar Jalapeno Cheetos.
3. Minor Illness is a gift as long as you have sick pay and can miss work. If you do not have sick leave...it is a curse for reasons you must consult ME to understand.
4. I know these things to be true because I dreamed about it and experienced it all.
MOST IMPORTANT:
5. I need a name...I need someone who doesn't like it to give it one...this way I will wear my persecution like a badge of honor, and proof my beliefs are true.
6. We don't worship any god. We just follow the basic tenets until more are added. We also don't believe that any god makes a religion true, which is why others are false and this one is...ummm...true.
