How to Build an Electric Riding Mower?
I have a craftsman riding mower that is only about 3 years old. From day one it has been trouble - the starter has never been strong enough to crank the motor, I have gone through 6 batteries, the motor uses gas and oil with impunity, and so on. Aside from that the rest of it is ok.
I want to convert it to an electric mower instead of sending it to the junkyard. I was wondering if you might know of any plans that exist to complete such a project. I am not sure what type of motor to use, how to wire it to the batteries, etc.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
5 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoHave you ever built and/or used a "worm shocker"?
My grandpa and I used to build and use worm shockers to shock worms (and other critters) out of the ground to go fishing with. They are extremely simply, cheap, and easy to build. But they are extremely dangerous.
I was wondering if anybody else had ever built or used such a thing? A few years ago they were sold commercially, but I guess since they were considered dangerous, they took them off the market.
