  • Eel fishing (plus 20 letters)?

I caught an eel this past winter. First one I have ever caught.

Just wondering if anyone else has had experience with eels. We (buddies and I) ended up taking it home and deep frying it. It was pretty good, but sure wasn't worth the hours we spent trying to get all the slime off and cleaning it. What's the best way to clean one of these things??

Picture of friend holding said eel:

  • PA/Siren laws in Texas?

What are the laws concerning the installation of a PA (or siren) in a vehicle in TX?

I am not asking the laws regarding the USE of such a device while driving on a road, just the installation of the device.

Are the laws regarding a PA different than the laws regarding the siren?

  • How do I tell her I don't want it?

...I found out what my girlfriend is getting me for Christmas.

We have been dating for two years, we are shopping for a ring, we will be getting married in a year or two. She's spent a lot on a watch for me for Christmas, and... I don't like it. I don't even REMOTELY like it. It's going to crush her heart if she sees me not wearing it. When I open it on Christmas, I will act very surprised, and excited, and thank her a lot for it... but we will have to have a talk in the next few days after Christmas about it, because, well, we will need to have a talk about this watch.

I don't know what to say. Can someone write a few sentences, pretending you were me, on how to start this out?

  • 5.56 Suppressor Question?

I am saving up for a 5.56 can for my 16" m4. with the understanding that sound is very personal (ie, some people believing that 'X' sound is quieter than 'Y' sound), i just wanted to get opinions from anyone on here that has experience with 5.56 cans.

i recently shot the M4-2000, both in an open field and in an indoor range, and loved it. great ergonomic attachment, and good sound.

  • Shooting 'coons in NC?

Hello all, long time no see.

I will be heading up to NC tomorrow to do some raccoon control, and just wanted to know if anyone in the area knew much about the laws I may or may not be infringing upon. Are raccoons considered to be pest animals, and can be hunted any time of the year? Anyone have any information on discharging a firearm in Browns Summit, NC (zip 27214)?

If this clears your approval, I am looking forward to turning some 'coons into swiss cheese with my new 22lr drop-in bolt for the good ole m4!

  • I'm wanting to join the army, but I'm overweight...?

I'm graduating with my 4 year degree (BFA) this next year. I don't foresee any possibility of getting a job... but I have always wanted to join the army. My one problem is that I am a bit overweight. I don't have any other health issues, and at one time I was in superb physical shape-- tri-varsity athlete and all!

Ok, so, what is the maximum weight for a 23 yo male, 6'0"?

  • card to go with flowers?

There's a girl who i have been talking with for a few weeks, and we both really like each other. In a couple weeks, she has invited me to come up and spend the weekend with her. She is 20, and i am 22.

She left to costa rica for spring break, and she gets back on Saturday night. She has never had a guy give her flowers before, and so i wanted to surprise her and have a small flower arrangement sent over to her house before she arrives back.

What should i put on the little card? I want to say something clever, but not overly "lovey". we don't use the word, "love" yet. something cute... sweet... might make her laugh...

  • Ex gf spread harmful information?

I once told a girlfriend that my parents were meeting with a bankruptcy lawyer.

She and i then broke up.

Now, she has told all of her friends that my parents filed for bankruptcy, and we are broke. This isn't exactly true. Things turned around, everything is now manageable, and some good business deals came through. Everything is now ok. But, her telling everyone has had some pretty damaging results, personally, to all of my family. Nothing in monetary value, but this has been pretty rough for all of us, without having to deal with a crazy 8itch.

What can I do? She keeps telling people, and this is really taking it's toll on my entire family, and I (rightfully) am getting the blame.

  • investment pistol purchase?

$2000 to spend on a pistol that will increase in value.

practicality of making it a carry weapon and lethality of ballistics are not important. Just a pistol... that will increase in value. Can be used, old, NIB, anything.

    current possible considerations:

    mark 23

    calico

  • HOA threatens to tow my car... are they even allowed to?

I am renting a room in a house, in a neighborhood, in Savannah, Ga. There is an HOA in the neighborhood, but i do not pay the HOA fees-- my landlord pays them.

The HOA claims that we are not allowed to park cars on the street, but limited driveway space is requiring that I do so. Recently, I have started receiving threats from my HAO that they will tow my car.

Here's what I'm asking-- because we have individual mailboxes for each house, on the street, I would think that the street is public (government) property, and I would be allowed to park on the street. There are no "No Parking" signs, and no "Private Property" signs in the neighborhood. So, does my HOA have the authority to tow my car? How else could I tell if my neighborhood is private or public?

  • arthritis-friends fasteners?

    Hello Y!A,

I need a fastening method that is arthritis friends. it needs to connect a 1" synthetic strap (think: helmet strap). because of the specific application, velcro is out of the question. Because of the arthritis, a "squeeze buckle" is out of the question (again, think kids bike helmet buckle).

I am desperately trying to find a small "push-button buckle" (like the ones you push to release?!) but i can't find one for sale. Any other ideas?? All ideas please submit with a site to buy them!!

larger hook and loop? I can't find anywhere to buy one larger than bra-strap size! it also needs to be a little more durable that a bra-strap clasp.

hook and loop would be great... just cant find hook and loop buckles for sale.

  • legality of custom 12ga loads?

    Hello hunting,

I am wanting to dibble and dabble into making some of my own 12ga loads. What are legal restrictions concerning incendiary loads I want to be aware of in Georgia (USA)? Would I be in the clear if I was to roto-mold a slug with a cavity in the tip, and load it with an incendiary? Are legal restrictions variable upon the amount and power of the incendiary I use, or is the use of an incendiary forbidden in-and-of-itself?

I'm ~thinking~ that the legality may be the amount used, because I am allowed to purchase incendiary loads here in Georgia. But, then again, I wouldn't put it past our government to allow me to purchase fun things, but not be allowed to manufacture them...
