  • regarding an Netgear AC 600 dual band wifi stick?

Want to connect a friends old desktop to my Xfinity hotspot. We got her a Netgear AC 600 dual band wireless AC adapter.

Do we need a wireless router as well? When we first set it up I was able to get her on the internet but streaming video was so slow and glitchy. We thought it was her old desktop, and may be. But now it isn't connecting at all and it's making us go through set up again and this time is saying we need to push the button on the wireless router but she doesn't have one.

  • Today's VCR what are my non-wifi options?

Have cable at home but not my vacation home. This year I want to be able to record my shows on a device (in the old days we used a VCR) and take my machine with a remote control to my vacation home and watch tv. I won't have a wifi either and don't want to sit in bed watch stuff downloaded on my laptop. I want the full TV experience that I am used to. Please advise.

  • Poll for men: how do you like to be hugged?

Men—grown men that is!!! I was wondering, romantically speaking (not grandma, mother, sister etc.) how do you like to be hugged and why? Also which way is more sexual vs. cuddly?

    •Being hugged around your neck

•or around you waist/torso (under your arms obviously).

Please lmk and a little commentary is fine. It's just for my own personal info.

    Thanks.

  • Can so done give me a crash course?

Ok so I play the lotto Mega Mills and Powerball often. But I have always wanted to play PCH (Publishers Clearing House). Recently I tried to play the "win for life" game but it is a never ending process and it reminds me of those ridiculous surveys that keep going and going before you get to the prize. Is it that you MUST sign up for one of their products or publications they push? Please someone just give me a crash course. I really want to play!

  • What Windows OS would be best for my small business?

I am a beauty supply sales rep. I want to start my own business representing companies in the beauty supply world and I want to travel less and work more from home.

    I am planning the following:

-Buying a light tablet for when I am forced to travel and meet with clients. I was planning on Windows RT for this hardware.

-For my home office I am buying an All-in-one

Is an all-in-one a good choice for at home? And should I work with a Windows 8 OS or Windows 8 Pro?

Keep in mind I am familiar with Windows and have no desire to have to learn a new system. So please, guidance with Windows only.

All other suggestions are welcome as well, including what sort of software I should be implementing (Excel? Powerpoint?)

Same for security. I know nothing about security.

    Thanks!!

  • punctuate this sentence please!?

A lot has happened since then; I've lost my husband, my children have all grown up, I have a beautiful granddaughter

    or

A lot has happened since then: I've lost my husband, my children have all grown up, I have a beautiful granddaughter

colon or semi colon?? A colon seems so impersonal for the content of the sentence yet I don't want to be one of those people who misuse and abuse Mr. semi colon! Please respond quickly before I lose my writing flow!

  • Pandora, paid subscription, any good?

I obviously use the free app on my i-phone which I find incredibly useful especially while driving. However, I use all my free hours each month. Honestly, I'd be willing to pay the $4 a month to have the full service with less commercials but I have concerns about their music choices and what seems to be the ineffectiveness of the "like" and "dislike" buttons. Not with all of my channels but with some. A good example is with the Ramones channel. It seems that over an hour of listening time they played ONE Ramones song! And trust me it can't be because of a lack of a library for that band because they were playing the Misfits (who I disliked many times and they continued to play!) What can paid subscribers tell me about the paid subscription to Pandora? Also, with paid subscriptions do you have more choices? For instance, I notice you can't play specific songs... Thanks!!

  • Can VHS tapes be restored?

I have always kept my home movies (which consist of VHS tapes and 8mm tapes) in a safe, dry cool place in their proper covers. Some time ago, to my dismay, I was told that the best way to preserve VHS tapes is to actually watch them frequently. Unfortunately, we really don't watch them very often. Up until then they had played okay. But recently one of the very precious and dear to me tapes got real bad. The sound is all messed up and that bouncing has started with the pic. The same person also told me that you can't restore VHS tapes, once they're in bad condition thats it. Can anyone confirm if this is true? These are home movies of my children as little babies and all through their early years as well as of my deceased husband and grandparents. I will be heartbroken beyond belief if it is true that these tapes are done for.

  • Cheaper alternative to Trailing Snowflake Bacopa?

Hi fellow gardeners, fell in love with the Trailing Snowflake Bacopa this spring. But to my surprise it is one of these expensive annuals that only come in pots. One plant is (the cheapest I've found) $4.00. I need a few so that isn't a viable option. The thing I LOVE about Bacopa is how thick and green it is with the flowers being dotted throughout but not overtaking the green. It also cascades versus trailing. I've thought of the following plants and none of them compare: verbena, calibrachoa, scaevola, vincas, ivy geraniums, torenia. All of these along with the standard fair; pansies, petunias, impatiens are all to traily. None of these seem to have that lush thick green that cascades down. Creeping Jenny is close to it but I don't see any evidence that it flowers. Any more suggestions on a thick, cascading plant with dotty little flowers? Preferably white?

  • What do baked potatoes have against me?

I have been told I am a very good, even excellent cook. I have mastered bechamels, gravies, marinara sauces etc. Please someone tell me why the heck I can NEVER turn out a good baked potato??! I gave up on them at one point. Then last night I decided to be adventurous and do twice baked potatoes. The instructions clearly said "bake 350 one hour". I wrapped them in foil and poked ventilation holes with a fork and did just that. Welp, they were still hard as rocks. I wasted an hour and a half additionally trying every which way to cook these darn potatoes and at least get them in a baking dish topped with cheese to no avail!! What in the name of heavens am I doing wrong??? Additionally, I did purchase potatoes labeled "baking potatoes".

  • Best bet for credit score?

Last year I lost half of my hours right before a move. So I did what any other red blooded American would have done and I charged it! lol Basically right now I have 4 major credit cards (three MC and one Visa) and about 8 store charge accounts including Target and Walmart. I am going to be able to pay down all 12 of my charge accounts when I get my tax return. But should I also close a significant amount of my charge accounts? I have heard that having too many lines of credit can also hurt your credit score. I want to keep cards like my Target card because they offer the 5% discount on everything charged on it. Aside from the move, I actually never carry a balance on my credit cards so it pays off to get the 5% discount. Should I also close down any of my major credit cards as I do have 4 of them. Please advise.

  • winter rosacea bad flare ups help?

Dermatologist said yes to rosacea and put me on the appropriate med. Med worked fairly well but too expensive. Plus, I seem to have all of the opposite "flare up"triggers. I only flare really bad at this time of year. Jan into Feb when its brutally cold and dry. I tried the dermawand and loved it but also felt as though it may be causing some flare up. When I followed up I saw your not supposed to use dermawand on rosacea skin. So I sent it back and then all hell broke loose. I am suffering from one of the worst break outs ever! Summer heat and sun which is supposed to be the worst for flare ups is actually when my skin is the clearest. I'm just not sure what to do or try anymore! Help.

  • Alternative if you can't build a temp wall?

We found a great apartment with a really nice sized finished basement. We want the apartment but we need to create two private spaces for my two college kids. Unfortunately fire code won't allow for the space to be walled off even with temporary partitions. We need some creative ideas to give the kids much privacy and cut down on some of the sound from each others spaces. It also has to be cost effective. In other words, buying $1000 worth of bookshelves won't cut it! HELP!

  • making an existing ac/heat vent dual?

We have a portion of our basement that we'd like to finish off. Its already framed and has insulation so we will go ahead and sheet rock it. We have two existing heat/ac vents on the other side of the wall (already finished off portion of basement) and we'd like to make one of those vents for the other side that we are finishing off. Any advice? Everything needs to be up to code of course but I can't imagine it being any problem simply using an existing vent.

I changed my old Lynksys wireless router out for a Netgear and all the laptops connected just fine. However, when I tried to get online with my Magnavox blu ray player I keep getting this message: DHCP cannot be acquired. I have no clue what this means. Help please.
