So, a breakdown of my situation: I currently live in Mobile, Alabama, and am planning to move to my birthplace, Seattle WA around the start of June. I'm now 22, and I got my very first job last year as a cashier. Minimum wage is around $7.25. I heard it's going up to $9.80 by 2016, but I can't wait that long. Right now, I'm making $9.25 an hour, but only because I'm working for a company that originated in Florida.

Honestly, if it weren't for the job I have now, I'd be sitting at home running myself ragged for less than what I'm making now. Before this, I got turned down for my lack of experience, so trying for 5 years to get my foot in the door was hell for me. I do like my job, but right now, the town I'm in is depressing for a young guy like me.

Taking a break from college because the school systems here aren't that great to be honest. I got fed up with dealing with them, so I stopped. I may go back a few years later, but I still don't know what I WANT to do. I feel as though if I move to the better city [Seattle] is rumored to be, I might be able to find better people, better resources, etc.

As of now, my plan is to live with my younger brother and help him with his rent.

So: 1) As of May 13, 2014, what's the minimum wage for cashier/customer service staff in Seattle?

2) Any notable places to apply for gaming companies with only 1 year's worth of retail experience?

3) Any recommended colleges/courses I should look into for game/graphic design?

Ok, so whenever I hang out with friends, once in awhile someone will play music. When it comes to me, I don't wanna say I can't dance, but usually, the only thing I really do when "dancing" is that Jersey-shore fist pump thing and bouncing my legs, so I'm not much of one. Don't really think it counts, because 70% of the time, that works for a given situation. Other than that, I can't really say I know what I'm doing. I can feel the beat and rhythm of the music, but as far as moving to it, I'm pretty clueless (^_^;)

One of my friends is really into dubstep, so he does that slow body pop-lock thing. As far as I can tell, he's good at it, but he's always dancing to...anything, nothing, whatever. Me, I've never been into it, so when it plays, I kinda just sit there.

Another friend has like, no rhythm. No offense to him, but he sorta looks...lost. Whenever any sort music plays, he just jumps around. Not even to the beat. As long as he's having fun, I don't really say anything, but if anyone had to coordinate a dance with him on the spot, he wouldn't be the first choice to be honest.

Then there's the club scene. Not really into that, so I just fall back on the fist-pumping leg bouncy thing. Of course, that doesn't always work, so whenever I do have to dance differently, I'm like, stiff and ridged. Someone can show me how as many times as it takes, but I only move my legs when it takes my whole body, and vice-versa.

So I'm thinking, maybe it's not that people can't dance, but rather, they can't dance unless it's the right rhythm. Like, someone who can't bump and grind might have an inclination towards salsa or ballroom dancing. I dunno.

Any thoughts on this?

See, whenever I draw, I have to physically have something to go by. 87% of the time, the finished product turns out just like I had in my hand, but no matter how hard I try to draw by myself, nothing ever turns out like I had it in my head. Like, I'll pick a character from an anime, but all I need it for is the pose. I start drawing, and whatever features my ORIGINAL character has, I'll draw those instead of what I see, and maybe add some of MY extra touches not illustrated.

I've turned out some pretty decent pieces with this method, but I still feel bad about it. Sort of like I'm using other works already done as a crutch to stand on. From that point, I've been using posemaniacs [website], but even that feels...Sketchy.

Has anyone else who draws faced this situation, or something similar? Need some stories to at least let me know I'm not alone. Help/advice would be much appreciated.

I'm somewhat of an artist, and the reason I'm THINKING about getting Colors! 3D is because I sort of want to redraw my monkey character with colors and make the lines less sloppy. Most of the art done with it is... mediocre, at best, (understandably) but there are several works that just have AMAZING detail. (If you wanna see some of my stuff, just hit me up)

Now, all I've ever done up to this point was draw with paper and pencil. Colors! 3D lets you use layers, but I've never done anything digital before, so if I'm unable to master that, then it would be a waste of money for a potentially awesome app. The only reason I thought about this was because some of my artist friends use tablets and stuff, and I'm thinking this will be WAY cheaper than just buying/downloading the software and hardware for it.

Is it worth it?

I'm editing a story for a friend, and right now, there's a chapter that's heavily loaded with dialogue. Granted, I'm usually good with this sort of thing as I love character-centered stuff, but this has me baffled. Everything said is essential to explaining the rest of the plot, but the characters involved have the exchange for a whole page, and it seems to drag on.

I don't want to post them explicitly, but I'll just say that the main character is thrown into an organization, and has to have rules explained and questions answered. There's just too much dialogue for me to change anything.

Any help would be appreciated. If there's any confusion or misunderstanding, don't hesitate to let me know.

I need it pretty soon to keep chatting over Skype, because for some reason, my laptop doesn't come with a built in mic. The one I have was only $16 by Gigaware, but it's kinda bulky, only lasted for about 6+ months before it started to fall apart (still works, but it's barely hanging on by a string.) and the only way I can use it is if I plug it into a USB port.

My price range is anywhere from $25 - $40. The main issue with me is durability/portability. As long as it does its job over a long period of time and doesn't start to fall apart, I'm good. Specs appreciated, but don't go into TOO much unnecessary detail on one area.

I never trusted banks or credit cards, but then came the need to make some purchases that I just can't do with cold hard cash in my hand. So, I set up an account with Paypal, and received my first payment. The problem now is being able to get to it. I looked to order a card for it, but the only options I see are Visa Mastercard, etc. So, is the paypal card like a debit card, credit card, or what? Very confusing, because I don't wanna sink into debt any deeper than I already am. (college kid, you know the story. Not that I'm a bad spender, far from it. I just wanna wipe this out as fast as I can so I'll have less to worry about 10 years down the line.)

Really nervous about all this, because I'm so used to actually holding the money in my hand so I know exactly how much I have.

Also, I don't really know what kind of card I should get. Just now found out about the Prepaid Paypal cards, but heard there's a monthly fee. It's not dauntingly overpriced, but with no steady source of income and no help, I can't possibly afford it anyway. Whatever cash I do have left is tucked away in a credit union since banks aren't that safe anymore, but to keep it open, I have to leave that money in there.

Any answers in detail from personal experience dealing with Paypal cards, debit or prepaid, good AND bad, would be great. I don't need links to the site or testimonials saying how 'absolutely flawless' it is.

I'm thinking about changing my profile pic for awhile now(fb), and I wanna make it look like it's one photo; mostly to show off my awesome hoodies, frontal view and back turned. It's gonna look awesome! :D

Exactly how would I go about doing this? all I have on me is a phone camera, and I can't get my hands on a digital cam at the moment...sigh (._.)

I got a laptop a few months ago. It works pretty well, although I did have to get it serviced recently. Anyway, it's a Toshiba Satellite L645, and I have a bit of a problem.

See, whenever I try to Skype, Oovoo, video chat, etc., I can always hear the other person loud and clear, but the other person could only hear static or nothing at all. I've tried toying with all the settings, and turning everything on MAX volume, but still, no one can hear me. I've had to stick with making awkward facial expressions while typing at the same time (Good thing I'm a fast typer! :p)

Is there anything else I can do to fix this, or am I gonna have to eventually get a microphone/headset and look like a telemarketer while I talk to my friends? Any and all help would be appreciated.

Alright. I'll start off with a list of my friends:

We were just hanging out at my college campus. We were being stupid, playing hide and seek, sneaking in the cafeteria for free food (didn't work), splashing around in the fountain, that kind of thing. Somewhere along the line, everyone started telling some secrets, some obvious, others weren't.

When it finally got to my turn, I kept stalling and shifting attention to someone else. I kept it up for about an hour, but eventually, I was backed into a wall, figuratively speaking. It had to be a real secret, since everyone dished something kind of...harsh: something I'd normally never trust anyone with. So...I told them that I might kinda be a...furry.

I got a bunch of different reactions. 2 of my friends ran up to me and hugged me. The other two were either indifferent or probably negative about it. Not really sure.

I'm still confused about a bunch of things, since I don't know if they know exactly what it means to be a furry. I think they've seen the 'porn', but I can't be sure, since I'm not really into that, and yeah.

1) Friend-guy (He's a bit naive, but he catches on quick. Not sure how much he knows, but he hugged me when he found out.)

2) Friend-girl (Pretty much like #1, but she's a little more...not naive? I dunno, but apparently she was happy cuz I got hugs from her, too.)

3) Grandpa (He kept quiet after I told him. I think he's been avoiding me, on purpose or un(sub?) consciously, I dunno.)

4) REALLY Old Man (Not sure about him. To be honest, I think he's a bit slow. He didn't really avoid me, but he hasn't shown me any signs that he's bothered or happy about it. I'm indifferent about pretty much anything when it comes to him.)

So you can probably tell that I'm a bit concerned. I think that thanks to some combination the Internet, CSI, and other mass-media, people totally have the wrong ideas about furries. I don't do the whole fursuit thing, and the fetishes just plain creep me out. I just like the art and some of the writing. And I'm about as vanilla as you can get.

And it's not exactly like I lied about being a furry. Heck, I even think I said I'm a fan of some stuff; there are a few subtle (and less than subtle) hints lying around somewhere, and if you asked me, I'd tell you that I was one.

The only thing that really bothers me is how Grandpa acted. I'm not exactly sure I can get him to sit down and...'explain' to him what a furry really is. We didn't have any problems till this point, and I don't wanna lose a friend over a misunderstanding. And the other 2 kids...They seem to be happy for me, but I'm worried they might freak out over something unsettling they find online.

Also, this isn't something I'd normally announce. Since I've told a few friends, I'm worried about telling the rest of the people I know. I'd like to think they'd all be accepting, but I get where they're coming from; it CAN be a little weird if you don't know what to look for (or if you're looking to hard for the wrong thing.)

Should I just handle this or just ride things out and hope for the best? Serious answers, please.

Now that I've picked up a Nintendo 3DS, I thought I'd put it to good use until awesomer games come out. SSF4 won't hold me for a whole month, so until then, I'll be playing with some other apps.

I'm about...5'4", 95-100 lbs. (super skinny) 18 going on 19. I used to take taekwondo a few years back, so I think I might've lost some weight (about 10-15 lbs.) Joining a gym is out of the question for now, but in the summer, i might have more time to get in one for free with my student membership. And I eat like a fat kid, but no matter how much or how often I eat, I barely see any weight gain.

So, without working out, I was thinking I could start drinking a bunch of protein powder, but gave up because it tasted nasty. Is it a good idea to mix it with coffee every morning? And eating 4+ meals every day with the powder/coffee drink?

And also, is breakdancing a good way to excercise? It's something I've always wanted to learn, but I heard it requires a ton of upper-body strength or height, both of which I do not have at the moment.

I'm thinking about buying RE: Coded and Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey for the DS, but I don't wanna end up paying $34 for a 20-25 hour game, then have the price go down to $20 after the KH craze dies down (just like in 358/2 Days. AGH! DX)

I'm writing a story. Now, I've read 4 Maximum Ride books last year. In my story, I'm thinking of having one of my characters remember a time when he was trapped with Angel, or meeting the bird girl that Max and the gang released when they were in New York. Then I'm gonna have him inquire about a wolf kid who doesn't look like normal Erasers. or something. Or have him meet some of the other minor characters that James Patterson threw away, like Max II or Omega.

If I decide to make these references and get my story published, will I get sued by James Patterson and drive my family and me into the poorhouses forever? Will these references be mentioned in Wikipedia? Do I have to ask James Patterson to even mention them in the story? I won't directly point them out or have them be part of the story, but I feel that some parts of his story, like his throwaway characters, were just there for those few chapters for Max to fight.

Of course, if I do decide to do this, I'll ask his permission first (how do I go about doing that, btw?) but if he says no, then those vague people will be nothing more than memories...

What should I do?
