2 AnswersDesktops1 decade agoQuestioning evolution here, ignorance or just plain old stupidity?
Why do people ask questions regarding evolution or the big bang and place them in 'Religion and Spirituality'?
If you want an answer, why not post it somewhere made for science questions?
35 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do some people think life is purposeless without religion but that the afterlife has a purpose?
Surely even if you live life to please your god/gods, you will just carry on in Heaven (or equivalent) doing all the things you enjoyed in life, so what is the point in that?
1 AnswerReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf God made us in his image, then why do we die of old age yet he doesnt?
(or at least not at the same age range)
And how can he look like a human in heaven if physical bodies cant get to heaven?
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs there the same amount of 'evidence' for every god ever spoken/written about?
From what I gather, the 'evidence' for believing in a god tends to come down to:
1) Look at how amazing the world is, therefore <insert name of god here> must have created it.
2) I've spoken to <insert name of god here> and they spoke back to me. Therefore <insert name of god here> must exist.
3) <Insert name of prophet here> said its true.
4) <insert name of god here> is written about in <insert name of holy scripture here>. Therefore they must exist.
Is there any other 'evidence' that im missing?
And then how does the 'evidence' for one god differ for that of the thousands of other gods?
I'm serious.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat evidence is there to suggest that Satan is evil and tries to make us do bad things?
when i say 'evidence' ill include your reasons for believing. even if they are not strictly evidence.
Wouldnt Satan rather we loved him rather than just turning us away from a gdo? surely Satan would be nice to us all to win us over. Like a political election.
24 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAs a Christian, could I commit as many sins as I like as long as I repent?
Will God forgive me then?
If yes, then isn't that a really bad message to children?
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWould god talk to the animals if....?
If a species (any) were to evolve in the future to a point whereby they have a brain capacity and language skills equivalent (note equivalent, not the same) to that of humans, would they create their own religion or would god/allah/zeus/favourite god of the moment speak to them and provide them a religious text?
And would they be happy in the knowledge that the world was created solely with humans in mind?
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy was King James allowed to give his version of the bible?
And is he now in hell for providing his version of 'god's word'?
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf I'm an atheist and the way god made me, then are religious folks questioning their god by questioning...?
...my atheism?
Perhaps god's devine plan involves me being an atheist?
Who are you to question your god's decision to make me this way?
2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy is faith considered a virtue?
Surely someone just exhibiting faith instead of establishing facts in any other situation than religion would be deemed foolish?
e.g. a jury in a court of law, getting your car repaired, navigating, choosing somewhere to live.
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDoes God have stereotypical prejudices?
When asking about why there are bad things in the world, the general consensus from religious folks is that it is because *humans* have sinned and because *mankind* has disobeyed god.
But shouldn't god take each person on merit rather than stereotype us all into the same category?
I can think of a few situations in history where people have been jailed/murdered/treated appallingly based on profiling yet I doubt anyone would worship them
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow do you know that Satan isn't 'taken out of context' or 'mistranslated' in the bible?
maybe he's a good guy?
And the old saying 'Satan's greatest trick is convincing the world he doesn't exist'... Perhaps if god were the bad guy then his greatest trick would be to convince the world that Satan was the bad guy?
my head hurts
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhats the point of churches/synagogues/mosques/etc if the gods are everywhere and know all thoughts and...?

11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHave you eve watched the 'Deep' episodes of Blue Planet and wondered why a God would bother?
There are some amazing creature miles and miles and miles deep in the oceans that have only recently been found.
If God created the world for humans and with humans in mind, then why bother creating these wierd and wonderful eco systems somewhere that humans will never dwell and somewhere that means nothing to the lives of the majority of the planet?
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy was the wedding ritual created well after the dawn of human beings?

4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhere do I stand legally as an employee when there is no running water at work?
There is no running water in the entire building at work meaning there are no toilet facilities and there is no drinking water.
What are the legalities of this (i'm in England working for a Local Council)?
I'm looking for specific Acts of Parliament etc.
Thanks
10 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWere there any documented witness accounts of Biblical stories by people who didn't believe in God?
If so, then why don't religious people believe these accounts to be factual yet believe the ones in the Bible to be truth?
Shouldn't ALL eyewitness accounts be taken into the debate?
Likewise, shouldn't ALL of the gospel accounts that weren't included in the Bible BE included in the Bible? If the Bible is God's word, then who are the church to pick and choose which bits get left in?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow did the serpent from Genesis move before God gave it it's punishment?
Isn't the way a serpent moves a punishment from God for what it did to Adam and Eve?
So how did it move before hand?
And how come all of the serpents that exist today (presumably descending from the same serpent in Genesis or from ultimatley an original serpent) can't talk?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf Jesus died to forgive our sins, why do women still suffer pain during childbirth?
And why do serpents still spend eternity crawling on their stomachs?
Were these not punishments handed out by God as a result of Adam and Eve sinning?
How come they haven't been rebuked since sins were forgiven upon the death of Jesus?
