Why is it okay to be trans-gendered (i.e., Laverne Cox), but not okay to be trans-race (i.e., Rachel Dolezal)? Serious answers only plz.?
If gender is more of a mindset than a biological factor, then can't race also be considered in the same way? I'm confused as to why we accept trans-gender, but ostracize trans-race. Being for or against both makes sense, but how is one okay and not the other?
NO TROLLS. Looking for a real, serious discussion here.
Thanks.
5 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender4 years agoHillary haters: Why do you really despise this woman so much?
Sure, Hillary is an opportunist and got rich in politics, which is sketchy. But she also helped people. Trump is an opportunist who got rich in real estate, via his daddy's money. And he didn't help anyone. He screwed contractors, employees and investors along the way. Oh and didn't write the checks to charity he promised.
Is there something I'm missing re: Hillary hate?
Also, please don't answer with some stuff about how they are both bad and we should have more choices. Of course we should, but Rome wasn't built overnight and a 3rd party isn't going to happen this time, not til a good 3rd party is built from the local level up.
39 AnswersPolitics5 years agoWhy do so many people think it's okay to pay their nannies off the books?
Is it because the GOP has cut the IRS so they're not worried about getting caught?
How come people don't get mad about tax cheats they way they get made about welfare scammers? There seem to be a lot of people that steal from the gov't by avoiding taxes.
6 AnswersPolitics5 years agoDo you know any less fortunate parents with a baby in NYC who could use some help?
Tis the season to help others! If you know someone in financial need who could use clothes, toys and diapers for their baby (under 3 yrs old), please direct them to http://www.roomtogrow.org/
1 AnswerNewborn & Baby5 years agoIs Ben Carson advocating for child labor when he says there should be a two-tiered minimum wage system?
"[Carson] suggested that the minimum wage should abide by a two-tiered system. This plan would entail having a “starter” minimum wage for young people who would be willing to work for less money, and a sustained minimum wage that would respond to inflation."
So he wants a cheap child labor wage? So we can compete with China while taking advantage of youth?
14 AnswersGreen Living5 years agoThere's no War on Women, but there's a War on Christmas? Looking for consistency...?
The Republicans being anti-choice, anti-Planned Parenthood and anti-birth control isn't a "War on Women" but a red cup that doesn't say "Merry Christmas" is a "War on Christmas"?
SOURCE: GOP, Fox News, NY Post, etc.
13 AnswersMilitary5 years agoWhat hip hop/rap/pop songs have the word "new" in the title?
I'm looking for some better-known rap, hip hop or pop songs that have the word "new" in the title... i.e., "New Sensation" by INXS or "New Attitude" by Patti LaBelle

Besides Wham!, Instant Karma! (by John Lennon) and Stop! In the Name of Love (by the Supremes)
6 AnswersOther - Music9 years agoDo people know that we are on track to be energy independant by 2020 without Romney?
Romney's campaign says we'll be energy independant by 2020... but we're already on track for that already. Do people understand that this is not a Obama/Romney thing, but an energy plan our gov't is going to follow regardless of who wins in November?
1 AnswerElections9 years agoHow can Ryan say he doesn't see how a person can keep their public life from their private life...?
...and from their faith"?
If you can't seperate public life, private life and religion that isn't it a bad idea to hold a high public office in the U.S. gov't because we have separation of church and state?
4 AnswersPolitics9 years agoWhy did Paul Ryan keep bringing the debate back to his family?
During the VP debate, Paul Ryan kept referring to his family. I get that he was trying to have a personal effect, but does he understand that the entire country is not all like his family? Can his experience come from beyond how his household is run?
8 AnswersElections9 years agoAre the Washington Nationals making the right decision in shutting down Strasburg?
By "saving" Strasburg for the future, the Nationals are jeopardizing their chances of winning this year - a year that they have the best chance to win. Is trying to save a pitcher (who may fall off like Lincecum, or stay strong like Halladay) the right decision when who knows if this team will be in contention next year or the year after?
11 AnswersBaseball9 years agoDoesn't the fact that Sheldon Adelson could get $2 billion in tax cuts if Romney is elected show...?
...how transparent it is that Romney's policy-free campaign is funded by the rich to save the rich? Adelson has promised to spend up to $100 million on Romney's campaign because it is a simple investment in his own potential to save billions.
2 AnswersElections9 years agoBeing raped is not "legitimate" if...?
I'm wearing a short skirt...
I'm on drugs...
I'm poor...
I consented to, say, oral sex, but not vaginal sex...
I'm gay...
I'm a stripper... say, in Tampa right now...
?
1 AnswerGender Studies9 years agoI'm not sure if I know what "legitimate rape" is, but wasn't Ron Paul was legitimately raped by the GOP?
Republicans didn't like that Ron Paul had delegates so they just took them away, sending the message that if they don't like the rules, they will change them and/or use loopholes (like Romney uses tax loopholes) to get what they want, no?
3 AnswersCurrent Events9 years agoRE: Gun Control - isn't it true that no one needs a semi-automatic weapon to protect their family?
My argument brilliantly illustrated by an NYC comedian here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YduLCx34Y0
I'm all about the 2nd amendment, but who really needs more than a handgun or a hunting rifle? No one who will use a weapon legally, I don't think!
For those of you who say things like "if people want an assault rifle, they'll find a way to get one anyway," um... so that's an excuse not to deter such behavior? Why should we make it easy for domestic terrorists like the guy in Aurora (I don't want to flatter him by stating his name) to get their ammo?
