  • why am I always so hungry in the mornings?

so heres the thing, im always so hungry in the morning but never hungy after about 3pm!!

I'm usually up early for uni in the morning so am always tempted to snack on the commute, and by the time its dinner I just don't eat anything because i'm no longer hungry

I go spinning twice a week and i'd say i'm quite happy with my figure, would like to lose half a stone as I'm currently just under 10 stone having lost some weight recently! I

if anyone could come up with any ideas as to what I can healthily snack on I would be very thankful :) I tend to crave sugary stuff if that helps?

  • How to make my videos fit the whole screen on yt?

Really sorry about the wording, couldnt think of a better way tbh!

okay so ive uploaded a number of vids to youtube, which i make quite basically on movie maker.

I dont really want to pay for another type of editing movie program, but have noticed my videos compress to a smaller size. Basically, they do not fit the whole video box on youtube:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lORNrbpGsE&feature...

is there any way i can sort this? Do i need to buy another camera? :| thanks for any help at all, i am a techno-phobe and cant find any similar questions anywhere :(

  • Why do I always feel nervous when I walk past boys?

Weird question I know :L and its not like ive had any bad experiances or anything but I find whenever i walk past a bunch of boys or even one boy I find it really awkward and I get all tense about it :/ its fine if i know who they are, but anyone I don't and i literally stop breathing sometimes within 3 metres of that person! It doesnt matter if they're ugly, fit or whatever I just find it uncomfortable :L

I'm 17, and not massively shy I don't think so I just wondered if other girls feel the same or am i just being strange :|

  • I'm unsure on how to ride this move in my dressage test (BD) and need reassurance?? "/?

So me and Tillie are doing our first dressage test (in a combined training event) this weekend and I'm really looking forward to it, something abit differant, etc. I know the test well enough but theres a move halfway round a 20m circle in trot - where it says "give and retake reins"

I watched my exact test on youtube a couple of times, and most riders are very visibly moving their hands towards the horses neck - which I suppose releases all contact and shows whether or not the horse is actually balancing itself. But this woman at my stables told me that a "give and retake reins" means that i need to lengthen my reins to encourage my mare to stretch her neck to the floor.

But literally, in the next corner after this movement - i need to make a canter transition so would be quite difficult to recollect her to make a nice transition, so two questions really for you dressage bods out there:

    - what do i ACTUALLY need to be doing for a "give and retake reins" movement?

    - and if i do need to lengthen rein contact, whats the most apropriate way to re-collect her swiftly for a canter transition?

Thanks in advance for any advice/tips related to the question :)

  • Cat has suddenly become very nervous?

I know this seems silly and like i'm over-reacting, but my cat is acting very strangely today and just wondered if anyone knows what could be wrong!

When me and my brother got home today, we noticed Sylvester was waiting in the porch for us - which he never does. it seemed a bit strange, but as soon as we opened the door he ran upstairs and hid under my mums bed - he only does this when hes scared. even when i went up to coax him out, it still took 10 mins and he just seems really on edge!

hes not eating, hasnt nagged me once to feed him which is veryyy out of character for him!

he is also not drinking much, he only drinks out the tap and i put it on for him - he doesnt want to know

I thought perhaps hes had a little "accident" and is worried he will be told off, but i've searched the house and havent found anything! about 30 mins ago, he followed me into my room and wanted to be next to me on my bed the whole time - my brother made a noise in his room which then made him take cover under my bed!

he's been left to his own devices pretty much all day as my mums been at work so honestly do not know whats made him so nervous all of a sudden! How can i encourage him to eat - and has anyone had similar issues with their cats because i actually am quite worried about him! "/

  • Best way to plait my tb/wb's mane?? (plus any advice from you dressage divas out there)?

Need a little bit of showing advice I suppose!

I am planning to do a combined training event in a months time (dressage and jumping) just for a change of scene with my mare which i usually showjump.

Anyway, she doesn't have much of a neck and shes a bit of a light-weight and I know theres an art to plaiting which makes them look like they have more of a neck then they actually have! Are smaller knots more flattering, or does she need more substantial knots?

Just any tips and advice for dressage as well, I have only participated in one dressage event in my life - and that was years ago on my first pony!

I'm keeping it very simple, doing the easiest dressage test :P Do i have to wear white gloves? my mum says I dont have to, but every dressage event i watch on youtube (local level or otherwise) everyone is wearing white gloves.

I'm based in the UK if that helps :)

Thanks in advance guys! I'm already nervous, dressage seems far more stressful then showjumping in my honest opinion!! :|

  • My mare keeps bucking through her flying changes?

Heya, just wondered if anyone else has had similar issues..

Bought my mare when she was 6-months broken, and basically brought on the schooling myself (with weekly lessons from knowledgeable instructor) about 4 months ago, we really cracked down on her flying changes, as she always does them jumping - but struggles schooling. (she has just turned 8)

anyway, she has seriously cracked the flying changes - and wants to do them at every opportunity! but the problem is that she will quite regularly throw in a buck as well "/ she seems to do it when shes about to change her back legs over, and i literally cannot ask her to do them in the warmup at shows because the bucks she throws are massive :S

I don't really mind her doing them as I know she isn't in pain and my instructor said that some horses tend to just throw in a buck with a flying change! she doesnt do it every time, but ive tried having a lighter seat on her to see if that helps - to no avail

just any opinions/advice would be much appreciated. she is a tb x wb if anyone wishes to know :)

  • How to encourage my cat to drink from his bowl?

A little bit concerned about my cat being dehydrated :S I have just come back from a 10 day holiday, and he hadn't drunk any water in his bowl (my neighbour was looking after him and said he never ran out of water) We know he's a bit reluctant to drink from his bowl, so left the bath tap running because this is the only place where he seems to drink from.

However, we've just been put on a water meter (basically, we pay for every drop of water now instead of estimates every month) and my Dad gets really funny about leaving the tap on for him - so a few questions really:

why won't he drink from his water bowl?

How can I encourage him to drink from his water bowl, and is it possible to do so?

He's quite happy to drink cats milk from a saucer, so should i be giving him water on a little saucer instead? as soon as we got home and turned the tap off he was miaowing like crazy for us to turn it back on - and it must take ages to get enough drops of water to quench his thirst?

Thanks for any feedback - 10 points to the most helpful answer :)

  • I'm going on holiday, how to ask a friend what to do with my mare?

Hey, understand this is sort of a non-horsey question as its more to do with the fact of limiting what my friend will be doing on my mare!

Basically, me and my family are going to Cuba in 2 weeks. I do not need my 2 horses to be mucked out, paying somebody at my yard to do all the hard work :P however, she needs to be worked because when I went on holiday last year, she got no work for a week and was an utter nutcase - bronced me off.

so I asked my friend if she could ride her for me. shes a very quiet rider, but not used to something so spirited as her pony is a lovely cob who doesnt put a foot wrong! I let her ride the other day to make sure Tillie was happy, and we put up a 1.10 fence. my friend put her in at a complete misser, but my mares quite genuine and helped her out.

But im worried that she will jump her when im gone, and scare her! shes also asked if she can take her hacking, and my mare is a handful at the best of times (always on her toes, will only jump puddles, etc)

so my question is, How can I go about telling my friend how to exercise her? i can't not have her ridden, as i've said - she becomes a lunatic! I wouldnt mind if she kept jumping to a metre, and her mother would never allow her to overwork Tillie.. But, I don't know. i dont want to say "youre not good enough to handle her" but i often come out with very blunt comments like that.

I apologize for my babbling in this question. i just wanted this to be in a section where other like-minded riders would empathize with my concern for my precious pony :P I dont want to come back to a nervous wreck! I worked hard to get my mare jumping well, and although Lucy is a lovely rider, shes just not used to a big warmblood! Decisions!

  • I want to ride my mare bareback, but...?

I don't think shes ever been ridden bareback before! She was 6 months broken when I first bought her, and she's a bit of a handful in that if shes not happy about something, shes not scared to rear up, etc. I've learnt how to sit them with a saddle - not sure if i could without!

I've had her about 3 years now, she schools and behaves herself beautifully in the arena, which is obviously where i would first try and ride her bareback. but i would like some advice on how to go about it.

will I really need to just DO IT and get on her bareback for the first time, or is there a better way to work up to it? I really do not know what her reaction will be to it tbh!

thanks in advance for any answers :)

  • Question about hair removal cream? (easy 10 points)?

heya, just a quick question. I've recently bought hair removal cream as am going on holiday soon and have really sensitive skin so shaving leaves me with rashes etc, even if i buy an expensive razor, and am really careful. I used some yday and it was FANTASTIC (where has it been all my life) but soo expensive!

so does anyone have any tips about applying it so it lasts a bit longer? I bought Nair, and at a fiver a go i want it to last more then a week. also, will the hair grow back more slowly then if i was shaving? I applied it quite thinly and it still worked, but is there a better way to spread it on your legs so that you dont end up with the product all over your hands? THANKS IN ADVANCE.

  • Girls, doesn't this annoy you about guys on motorcycles?

The fact that they always look so damn hot in their leathers and helmet, and then when you see them pull over and take their helmets off - shock horror, they are BALDING middle aged men with a beer belly. this happenned to me the other week. he flashed his lights at me beforehand, so i feel pretty violated about the whole thing tbh. it was just like one major disappointment :L

  • No spur-rests on new boots, is it okay for your spurs to sit lower on the boot?

Heya, bit of a long-winded question I know but I have just bought some made-to-measure boots and didn't think to have spur rests added, most whom ride english think they are not needed and limits where you can place your spurs. I showjump mainly, and use the spurs for schooling. they're tiny things with a very small shank, just to demand her attention really instead of flapping away on her sides.

I noticed that when I put my spurs on for the first time, when i tried to put them on higher they just slipped down. I fastened them up where they seemed to sit and schooled in them. They are stable and don't move at all, and theyre not like drastically low! just lower then I'm used to. Is this going to be a problem for me, and if so how do I resolve it?? clearly I dont want to ride in any other boots but i've heard of these rubber things you can put on the sides of the spur to allow them to be fastened up higher on the boot.

general opinions on the positioning of spurs, pros/cons of higher/lower positioning etc. My mare didnt seem to notice and they were comfortable where they were, etc. Just wanted to make sure it's just as effective really! :)

  • Poll: What is your horsey pet peeve?

    Mine is ponyclub brats!

I was watching a local show today and a girl of around 16/17,came in on her horse whom was clearly too inexperianced to be jumping at that height, and then proceeded to have a demolition derby. the horse was clearly scared and was kangaroo jumping, refusing, and at one point i thought it was going to skid over (it was on grass). the horse obviously was very green and ddnt have its own style of jumping yet - fair enough

but the girl came out, sulked and shouted at her horse. smacked it with her crop outside the ring and hit it between his ears. she then began to cry, i was disgusted. if i EVER dared to behave like that: my mother would have killed me and my mare would have got me off! the horse looked really depressed afterwards, head on the ground, dull eyes, i found it quite upsetting in all honesty :/ yet her parents just stood there and said nothing. I just felt for the poor horse, having to put up with such a pain in the backside and wouldnt have blamed it if it never wanted to jump again in its life she behaved so poorly!

sorry about the essay, I had to share tbh! I know most pony clubbers arnt like this at all, i have many close friends whom are part of the ponyclub whom would of been equally as outraged by this girls behavour!

anyway, what gets up your nose when it comes to the horses? :)

  • Hot boy at work exp. Did I blow it "/ ?

Okay so I'm in 6th form atm and looking into uni courses and stuff I wanna do, I need recent work exp with kids so I go to a primary school every friday to spend time in the classes :) I started last week, and thats when i saw HIM. :| I'm pretty sure he was staring at me when i was being shown around the classrooms and stuff and then while i had to wait in the staffroom he came in. not gonna lie, it was awkward. he ddnt say a word to me, got a drink. then just sat next to me in silence - it was painfully silent :/ and then he just washed his cup up and went :L

anywayy today, he actually spoke to me when I came in. said hello and asked me how I was. thing is I think i went abit red and so I ddnt really talk back :L I just went "I'm gooood" and then he kind of looked at me like i was a weirdo and walked off :| I think he actually wanted a proper conversation because he hesitated before he went, but I kind of put a complete stop to the whole thing by going a violent shade of red! :L

thing is, he seems really nice, is great with the children and they all really "get" him if you like. he gets them to behave when the teachers can't basically! I think I quite like him so QUESTIONS:

Do you think he is interested?

If so, Have I blown it by kind of ignoring him when he was trying to talk to me?

How can I make things less awkward so I can actually answer back like a normal human being next time he dares to talk to me?? "/

    Thanks guys! :))

(3rd time posting this question due to the fact yahoo is only showing up questions hours old!! :@ )
