I have heard this term in common language and in song. One artist clams to be a "Shining Star" and states " shining bright for you to see what your life can truly be", I still have no idea what it means. Another artist says YOU are my shining star don't you go away. Here judging from the romantic melody more than the words he seems to refer to a loved one, wife or girlfriend most apparent. Although the words have no meaning , at the same time everyone knows exactly what it means except me. Fill me in.

Recently ok I read the childrens book "Have you filled a bucket today"

There they put forth a supposition, everyone carries a bucket around all day. When someone is nice to you they put water in your bucket. When you are nice you also fill you bucket, as well as there's. Self esteem is the water the bucket is ego. It appears to promote a mind set where your self esteem is dependent on the approval of others.

The book Not only supports a dependent mind set, it strips one of there capacity for altruism. Giving to receive is not true altruism. I was taught to work on finding out what I think, and not to worry about what others may ,do, say, or think. This is said to be seeking external gratification. An innocent young mind , so indoctrinated, is left wide open to manipulation and exploitation. A concept likely developed by the aristocrat class in order to insure a large pool of workers seeking approval from authority figures.

We are to parent toured independence how can it be right to let my children, even metaphorically, believe they carrie a bucket to be filled only by the giving and receiving of approving comments and compliments; furthermore the converse is ever more harmful. Mean peoples comments, making fun of you, empty out your bucket. What then am I to impart into yes the impressionable bright eyed minds looking up having reached understanding of this text. They have found a level of sensitivity heretofore unrealized. The pride that beams from them, I am certain understanding a hurtful comment could bring a person down and make them feel bad about themselves is progress.

And that is why I pose the question. Is this a case of, as the song goes"to everything turn turn turn there is a season turn turn turn, and a time to every purpose". A stage they need to pass through, or a mind bending weaknesses imposed on my children just so the teacher can better control them.

My admin has really ben doing some heavy lifting lately entering items into a database. Everyone in the organization is working on it but she is the powerhouse. Fatigued and perhaps overwhelmed she had used a good deal of time entering previously entered data. Told it's"no big deal"we just delete back and redo, she begins to curse out a blue streak, directing the anger at the computer. I, the boss think I must say something soothing so she knows I am not mad at the waisted time, the error, but wind up blurring out, "calm dowd!""it's no big deal" . Today she would not meet my eye, I have embarrassed her made her feel unprofessional, and invalidate her frustrated anger, as if I never get frustrated and it comes out as anger-rage even, she calms me down with some soothing words. I try to offer the same , but instead put her as a child and knock the wind out of my power house. How can I undo this damage.

I have had this store called Shining Star for 15 years.SS was a "head shop" more or less.For reasons I just cant go into I have decieded to do it over as a new-age book store.Books rocks jewlery incense and that sort of thing.The problem is I need to change the name.People come in expecting boles and waterfiltered tabacco pipes and see this stuff and they seem to like it but it is not what they expected and they leave.I need HELP ,a real brainstorming innernet groupe suggestions abounding please.

My Ideas so far are LARK St. ROCKS a metaphical book and rock shop.And fat budda.I don't even like fat buddha anymore.There once was a store named Blue White rainbw on the street that I am trying to modle after (they moved and sence shut down after doing very well on my street)Look people I poured my heart and sole and reached deep into my wealth of knowlage to answer some of you Questions.Now please return the favor and give me some answers!
