Book: Describing city skyline from the air?
I'm writing a science fiction novel. In the book, the characters' plane is landing in Boston, and I need something perfect to describe the "infinite lights." Think Bladerunner when you read this, as it is a perfect example of my genre.
"Below were a million brilliant lights, a pandemonium of microscopic suns. It brought to Reese's mind a collection of neurons – the infinite network of branching cells, shooting electrons down a tunnel...The chaos suddenly stopped to the east on a sheet of solid black – the Atlantic. A tiny shard of collected lights could be seen on the edge of the water. It formed a triangular surface, that seemed to jut from the ground. Instantly he knew; this microcosm, this fantastical array so precisely arranged to perfection, was the arcology."
2 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade ago"Bumpy" or "Wavey" Audio in 5.1? What's wrong?
Basically, when I have matrix off (for watching 5.1 movies and games) and I change the volume without going to 0 and back to my desired level, the audio comes out in "waves." To describe what I mean, listen to white noise or a vacuum cleaner with your ear covered. Now, consistently take away your hand from your ear and put it back on your ear almost instantly. The sound comes in bursts basically. My power source is fine, so what's going on?
1 AnswerOther - Entertainment1 decade agoJournalism or Film as career?
Can't decide which I'd like to go into as a career. Film gives the opportunity to -make- movies about what journalists report, but it's still not the real thing. I'd just like some opinions on each industry from people actually training in or have a career in them. For journalism, I'd want to be a traveling kinda guy, covering stories in the Middle East, that sort of thing. As for film, I'd want to be more of director, such as cinematography, art direction, etc.
