  • Has anybody gone through the same thing? (Attempting to get out of the friendzone)?

I'm a freshman in university, and I had to do a presentation with another girl in my biology class. At the beginning, I sincerely thought of her nothing more as a friend and she thought the same about me. Over time, the more I got to know her, the more I liked her, and soon enough, I fell for her. I knew I was in the friendzone so I kept my feelings to myself for a good 3 months, until I just decided to talk to her about it. She said that she did not think of me that way and wanted us to just stay friends. This is the first time I've confessed my feelings to somebody, so I was kind of mildly 'heartbroken' because she did not think of me the same way as I thought of her. My feelings still did not change, but the fact that she rejected me really upset me. Even though I don't want to harm her or upset her in anyway. Deep down I'm getting these thoughts of me wanting to break her heart and reject her the same way that she did to me. I want to see her upset the same way that she made me.

All what I'm asking, if anybody has gone through a similar situation. Are these thoughts normal? and How can I cope with them? Because as I said, I honestly don't want to hurt her, but I can't stop these thoughts from coming.

    Thanks for any help given.

  • Question about natural logarithms.?

I'm studying for a test I have tomorrow and I would appreciate if anybody could help me solve this question to clear up my understanding of natural logarithms.

    If ln(y-1) - ln(2) = x + ln(x), then:

    a) y = 2e^x + ln(x)

    b) y = 1 + 2xe^x

    c) y = 1 + 2x + 2e^x

    d) y = 2 + 2ex^2

    e) None of the above.

I'll be really grateful if you could somehow put the steps and working out.

    Thanks in advance :)

  • Has anybody had a 4th nerve palsy corrective surgery?

I have been recently diagnosed with a fourth nerve palsy in my right eye, and I'm thinking of having it corrected by surgery. I'm 18 year old male. I would like to know from anybody who has given or received such surgery about side effects, whether it helped or not, was it painful, etc. I would really appreciate any advice, warnings, or notes that anybody would give me. Thanks :)

  • What is the difference between Young's double slit experiment and a diffraction grating?

I'm studying AS level physics in school. And I'm a little confused about these two experiments. Can someone please clarify? Correct me if I'm wrong. But according to what I understand, they're the exact same thing. It's just that diffraction grating consists of many more slits.

  • A couple of questions about enzymes?

    1) Are all enzymes water soluble?

    2) Is it possible for an enzyme to have more than one active site?

    3) I know that enzymes break down larger molecules. But could the somehow 'build up' large molecules from smaller ones?

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it :D

  • Do you have to be heartless or emotionless to be a good doctor?

I am planning on becoming a doctor. And I'm mainly talking about, performing surgery or breaking bad news to patients such as "Your husbands dying" or "Your wife has heart cancer". Just thinking about stuff like that makes me feel horrible. Or even just performing surgery in general. I don't think I can't stand watching somebody bleed that much. I mean I love helping people and hope on recovering patients. I also love biology. So do you really have to be heartless to be a good doctor?

  • AS or A Levels for American Universities?

I know that US universities accept the british A Levels (Advanced Levels) as a valid qualification for their undergraduate program. How do they take AS Levels (Advanced Subsidiary Levels)?

I know they might not be considered at the same stature, but what if i take all my AS levels and not my A Levels... Or make a combo of A and AS levels, how will the universities consider my course?

  • In chemistry, what is the difference between 'salts' and 'crystals'?

The two terms confuse me every now and then and I really don't understand the difference between them. Does it have anything to do about whether it is hydrated or not?

    Thanks in advance =D

  • In swimming, would you count this a good improvement?

I've been swimming for almost 4 months now, and every now and then I like to time myself doing a 50m fast swim. When I first started I did it in 47 seconds, and just yesterday, I was able to do it in 39 seconds. My question is, how good of an improvement would you count this? As in really good, excellent, average, or maybe even below average (hope not)?

    Thanks in advance =D

Correct me if I am wrong, but steel is an alloy between iron and carbon. Does the carbon in the steel stops the iron from rusting or corroding? Also what is the difference between mild steel and stainless steel?
