After 9 years my ex-wife has just decided to tell me I'm not the biological farther! What are my rights UK law?
I met my ex wife in Sept 2001 and, as you do, had 'fun' on a couple of occasions but then parted ways. No relationship was ever established so there were no hard feelings. By coincidence she got a temp job where I worked in Jan 2002 & I noticed she was pregnant. I asked who the farther was & she said it was me. So, being a decent guy I did the right thing and asked her if I could be involved so we arranged to meet. Long story short, we got together & our daughter was born in early July. I naturally went on the birth certificate. We got married in July 2004 & had our son in Dec 2005. Things went pair shaped in Aug 2008 & we split up in Sept. She left me on grounds of incompatibility but to make the divorce quicker I agreed to unreasonable behaviour, not washing dishes & other minor things, nothing serious. Finally got divorce sorted in Nov 2009 but from about 3 months after she left she has made my life hell. She broke into my house & took all the contents (posted in an earlier question) & has stop me seeing the kids on many occasion for ridiculous accusation. In a nut shell she is generally horrid & has been for almost 3 years. All the time for her own selfish pleasure & not considering the children. All has been quiet for a few months now but last Friday I received a letter from her solicitor asking me to sign a clean break order, but also rolled into the equation, "your ex wife wishes to be open and honest with your daughter now she is 9 & wishes to inform her you are, intact, NOT her biological farther." I was devastated & worried for my daughter & son. The letter also ordered me not to contact her so I'm now airing to see if I'm going to be denied seeing her again. I am having a paternity test but am genuinely worried I will find out I am not her farther. I have always been told I am & she will always be my little girl as I've been a devoted farther throughout every stage of her life, I just don't know where I stand if I'm not? Any help greatly appreciated.
5 AnswersMarriage & Divorce10 years agoI made an electronic transfer to my bank but entered TSB instead of Lloyds TSB, will it still go through?
I made my first transfer from PayPal to my bank account today. I entered the correct name, sort code, account number and branch but in the Bank Name window I put "TSB" instead of "Lloys TSB". For anyone who's unfamiliar with the bank, "Lloyds" and "TSB" merged some years ago to form "Lloys TSB" but I opened my account years ago when it was just "TSB" so, as a force of habit, I still refer to it as "TSB". I have called the bank and even they said they don't know if it will work!!!! Their exact word were,"It might, it might not, you'll just have to wait and see"! FGS, they don't even know and they work for the company. Bizar! I'm now worried as I cant cancel the transaction on PayPal, & if it doesnt workI'll get charged & also wont have the money for Christmas. Just wondered if anyone had anything happen to them like this before and possibly knew the outcome for such a situation?
Thanks in advance :o)
1 AnswerPersonal Finance1 decade agoDivorced for over a year. My ex wife found a key and took all my stuff without my knowing. Is this legal?
I separated from my ex wife in september 2008 & got divorced in november 2009. I stayed in the matrimonial home as i had owned it for 3 years before we met. Unfortunately my mortgage company would not transfer the mortgage into my sole name as they didn't feel i earned enough to do so, so she remained on the mortgage. I went to see a solicitor who drew up a residency order that outlined the basics due to her not residing at the address anymore & also outline basically she had no claim to my things in the event of my death & neither did i if the same happened to her.
I have returned to my house today after spending the weekend with my new partner to find she has entered the property & taken everything! She gave me her key & my mother-in-laws key back when we split up so she must have had one copied before she gave them back. There is no real point to her doing this other than to be malicious as she's had her own place for the past 2 years & took everything she wanted when she left. I contacted her as my neighbour saw her car outside my house over the weekend. I asked her if she'd been in my house to which she replied, "Yep!" I asked her why & she told me she wanted the things to sell to make some money as she's about to go bankrupt. She has taken furniture, games consoles, photos of out children, all their toys & even my personal things like golf clubs, power tools & even sentimental things from my childhood. She's been in the loft & made a huge mess & even ripped up 7 steps worth of the stairs carpet & taken that????? I have no idea where i stand as local police feel its a domestic situation & don't feel they need to get involved!!!??? I'm at my whits end as she has persecuted me at every opportunity for the past 2 years, using our children as weapons and the likes. The best thing is that she left me as i had an industrial accident at work & was disabled by it!!?? Please help if you can. Thanks in advance.
