  • Looking for a simple circuit design that detects open circuits?

Essentially I am looking for a very simple design that detects an open circuit. For example, when the circuit is not open, nothing happens, but as soon as the circuit is open or broken, then a LED light comes on. I'm sure this is not a big deal, but am racking my brain and can't recall this from school.

  • My rainwater has a slight green tint to it?

I recently build a rainwater collection system (~3000 gallons) for a cabin. The water is used for drinking, bathing, etc. The tanks are dark green in color to reduce the growth of algae by blocking the sunlight. I have just finished installing my filter system which has a 25 micron pre-filter then followed by a 5 micron filter. (the final UV light section to kill the sub 5 micron 'wildlife' is next) I flushed the system, then visually tested the water by filling my tub. I am seeing that the water has a slight green tint to it. I assume there is a little bit of algae in the tanks, but I assumed the filters would remove any presence. What do I do to remove the color?

  • Can anyone tell me who makes this automatic sprinkler valve?

I couldn't get a name off the valve as it sits. It has a leak on the top plate and i'd like to replace the valve plate as opposed to cutting the whole thing out and replacing.

  • Finding the correct boundary line for a fence?

Any civil engineers out there can help out? I have some land which I need to fence. The boundaries are staked about 600 feet apart. I have one section which runs down the side of a slope at an angle. Standing at either stake, I can not see the other stake. And the slope of the land is such that I can not string a line betwen the stakes to get a straight line to use for the fence because it lays on the ground. Is there any way to determine the correct boundary line between the two stakes?
