can I get into William and Mary?
I'm a junior and an in-state student.
I've taken the most rigorous courses possible (except regular math this year) all three years. All honors freshman year, all honors+AP world history sophomore year, and honors physics+ AP psychology, AP us history, and AP language/comp this year. My gpa at the end of my sophomore year was a 3.7. This year my gpa has been consistently a 4.07. My overall high school gpa goal is a 4.0. Next year I'm planning on taking AP environment, AP calculus ab, AP literature, AP government, AP photography, spanish, and orchestra.
Extracurriculars: I've played volleyball for my school all three years and was on varsity this year, I hope to continue on varsity next year. I've played club (basically regional travel) all three years as well. I've co-coached an elementary school volleyball team, worked as a volleyball referee (a paying job), and co-coached at volleyball academy clinics for middle schoolers. I plan on working as a referee again this year, and continuing to co-coach. My freshman year I placed third in one category and got an honorable mention in another category in my town's photography contest. Also freshman year I was the section leader and a soloist in my orchestra (I've played in the orchestra every year and am planning on continuing). I'm an officer of French club, am in Amnesty, and I'm in the Smile Train club. Sophomore year I did Envirothon. I've been in junior and senior math league, and this year I'm in National and History honor society. My freshman and sophomore years I did Relay for Life, and my freshman year I volunteered at the crop walk. I've been in/will continue to be in Junior and Senior math league.
Please let me know where I stand and what I can improve on! Thanks so much to anyone who takes the time to answer :)
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)9 years agoHow do you weight GPA at your high school?
Just curious cause I've heard a lot of different methods. At my school we weight on a 4.0 scale with a .5 boost for honors and a 1.0 boost for AP.
Thanks!
1 AnswerOther - Education9 years agoWhen you think of Virginia...?
I'm from Virginia and I was curious to hear an outsider's perspective... what are the stereotypes associated with Virginia? I'm from Northern Virginia and the culture is VERY different from the rest of the state, but I'm still curious as to what comes to mind when I tell people I'm from Virginia.
I won't be offended by responses, so please just answer honestly (as long as you're polite!).
Thanks!
11 AnswersPolls & Surveys9 years agoCould I get into these colleges?
Notre Dame, UNC, Elon, and Clemson.
I'm a junior and I live in Virginia. My freshman year I took all honors and got all As and Bs. My sophomore year I took all honors and one AP, getting all As and Bs except for one C+ (in algebra 2 hn). Junior year I'm taking three APs, one honors, and regular math. I expect to get all As and Bs. My GPA at the end of sophomore year was a 3.7, but I'm looking at around a 4.0+ this year so hopefully that will bring my GPA up to a 3.8 or 3.9.

I know my GPA is low, but if I can get it up to a 3.9 and do well on my SATs (hopefully at least a 2000), could I get into these schools? I'm especially interested in Notre Dame (my mom went there so I'm legacy) and UNC.
Please let me know which I could/couldn't get into and why! Thanks so much!(:
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)10 years agoHow much will i be penalized if my GPA is .2ish away from the average?
I'm a junior in high school and looking into pretty competitive colleges, with Notre Dame and UNC as reach schools. At the end of my sophomore year, i had a weighted GPA of 3.7. Junior year is going really well and I'm hopefully looking at around a 4.0 for this year, which will hopefully bring up my average to around a 3.8 or 3.9. This is while taking competitive courses (APs and honors).
My question is, if I have an otherwise strong resume (lots of clubs, honor societies, [officer of a few], am a varsity athlete, volunteer, am planning on getting a job this summer, hopefully high test scores, etc) how much will a 3.8/3.9 GPA weigh me down at a school who's average high school GPA is a 4.0 (or maybe even higher)?
Thank you so much for taking the time to read/answer!(:
3 AnswersHigher Education (University +)10 years agoWhere can I get a part-time job as a 16 year old?
I'm a junior in high school and I want to get a part-time job later in the school year. What are some places that hire 16 year olds? I'm looking more at retail/clothing than food (American Eagle, Old Navy, etc) but any suggestions would be helpful!
Thanks in advance(:
4 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment10 years agoCould I get into Notre Dame?
My mom went there and I have a lot of family who's gone there/is currently studying there.
I took two high school credits in middle school, and took all honors freshman year, and all honors and AP World History sophomore year. At the end of sophomore year all my high school credits averaged a 3.7 weighted GPA. This year I'm taking three APs (US history, psychology, and english) and honors physics. My goal for this year is to have an above 4.0 GPA, and the first quarter just ended and I'm on track.
As far as extracurriculars, I played freshman, then JV, then varsity volleyball (and am hoping to play varsity again next year), and I also play on a club team consistently. Freshman year I co-coached a house league volleyball team for younger kids, and last year I had a job as a referee for the same league, which I plan on doing again this year.
I've been in French club all three years so far and I've been an officer the past two years, and this year I'm in Amnesty, National Honor Society, and History Honor Society.
Do you think I could get in to Notre Dame?
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)10 years agoI need a new backpack (high school girl)?
So I'm going to be a junior in high school and I need a new bag for school. I've never really liked having a shoulder bag for school just because I think it's annoying to carry and usually doesn't have a lot of room. However, I've never actually used one for school so if you guys think they're good please let me know! Otherwise I'm looking for a fairly neutral and plain backpack. I like the plain black jansport ones, but soo many girls at my school have that exact one. I'm also into boho type stuff, so if anyone could suggest a plain black/neutral backpack or a boho-ish backpack (or a shoulder bag if your guys like em!) that would be fantastic! My only absolute need is that it has lots of room!
thanks guys(:
6 AnswersFashion & Accessories10 years agovarsity volleyball tryoutsssssss?
So I have tryouts for my high school's varsity volleyball team starting on monday and I'm nervous! I'm going to be a junior and I've moved up the ranks from freshman volleyball to jv, and I've played two seasons of club in between my freshman year and now. My high school is big on sports and pretty competitive, so it's unusual for underclassmen to be on varsity. This year at tryouts there will be about seven returning seniors and twelve or so juniors trying out for varsity. Not to be frank but I've been working my butt off since my jv season ended last year and really really really want to make the team; I've been working at this and wanting this since I saw the varsity team play for the first time when I was a freshman. I've got a pretty good jump serve down (with topspin!) and I feel like my hitting has really improved since last year (I'm an outside). Also I've been running and going to workouts, etc, all summer.
Basically I just need some encouragement! Sorry if this is a weird question, it's just I'm really nervous and I feel like I need to talk to some volleyball people I'm not competing against! If anyone has any general tips and pointers for tryouts that would be faaabb!(:

i'm a rising junior in high school from northern virginia and i have two, soon to be three cousins at nd, and my grandpa, several aunts and uncles, and my mom all went to nd.
i'm pretty sure my weighted gpa is around a 3.7
i've taken all honors so far and as a sophomore i took ap world history.
next year i'm taking precalc/trig, hn physics, orchestra, ap lang, ap phsychology, ap us history, and french 4.
i plan to take orchestra all 4 years of highschool.
i've played volleyball both for my high school and for a club team both freshman and sophomore year and i'm trying out for varsity this year, if i don't make it i'll at least play club volleyball. freshman year i also helped coach an elementary school vb team, and this year i worked as a referee for the same league.
i'm in french club and envirothon, which i plan to continue.
freshman year i placed and won an honorable mention in two categories of a photography contest in my town.
do you think i could get in? what should i do to improve my chances? does my mom going there help at all?

1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)10 years agohow many years of a foreign language do colleges want?
i'm going to be a junior in high school next year and i've already taken three years of french and i'm sick of it and not particuarly good at it. i'm taking three aps and an honors class next year and i don't know if i want to take french four as well, and i really want to take photo instead (my other two electives are orchestra and ap psychology, neither of which i want to drop). i have to pick between french four and photo. i really wanna take photo but is three years of a language enough?
i'm probably going to be looking at colleges like villanova, nyu, scranton, and notre dame.
thank you!(:

i'm going to get my first pair of toms soon, and i'm not sure which pair to get!

and these (in grey or navy):
http://www.toms.com/womens/brown-stripe-rope-sole-...
i really like the stripe ones but i'd only be able to wear solid colors with them because of the stripes :/ and i want to be able to wear these anywhere. i think the solid color ones are cute too but i'm not sure which color...
soo which do you think i should get and why?
also if you have toms, when you tried them on did you get the snug pair and break them in? that's what i've heard but i'm wary.
thank youuu!(:
1 AnswerFashion & Accessories1 decade agonew haircut ideas?(:?
so i have a haircut appt on friday and i don't know what to get! i need ideas!
my hair is pretty curly naturally, but i wear it straight the most often, so i guess if you could just suggest stuff for mainly straight hair (nothing ridiculous for curls though, like extreme layers haha). when my hair is straightened, its about to my bra band, and i have a round face, if that helps. pictures/what to ask for at the salon would be FANTASTIC.
thankss!(((:
1 AnswerHair1 decade agowhats the difference in level between club volleyball and high school varsity volleyball?
so i'm going to be a junior next year and i'm trying out for my school's varsity volleyball team (we're a pretty competitive school for sports and juniors aren't allowed to be on jv, so either i make varsity or i get cut from the whole program). i played freshman last year and then played my first year of club, then i made jv this year as a sophomore, and now i'm playing my second season of club in preperation for varsity tryouts this august,
my question is, whats the difference in level between club and high school varsity? i'm a starting outside hitter for a 16s team (http://www.mavbc.org/ <this club) and i get kills and such, today my team played a team seeded like 8th in the whole region and took them to three games. do you think i'm prepared for varsity??
thankss!(:
4 AnswersVolleyball1 decade agohow do i put this.... i'm bored with my life? haha help pleasee?
so i'm a sophomore in high school and i'm just generally bored with my life... haha i know it sounds weird i just feel like i need a project or something exciting to do, maybe for the summer since school is so busy. maybe this is just some silly thing all teenagers go through, but i always kinda wish i was on tv or famous or something just so i would have exciting things to do and people to meet, and fun things to dress up for an stuff. i'm sure fame sucks, i don't *actually* want to be famous... besides i can't sing or act so my only resort would be reality tv and i don't wanna go down THAT road ahaha. i just wish my life was more exciting.
soo for the actual question... ha. what are some exciting things i can do over the summer as a teenager? i'm into photography and artsy stuff... i just want some opportunities to meet exciting people and do exciting things...ahh. i'm just really bored and tired of the same old same old. \
i feel like this is a really weird question haha... sorry. advicee?(:
