  • Will I have to pay PMI?

If it works out the way we hope, my husband and I will be purchasing my parents' house. A quick and dirty estimate on the value is over $500,000 and they might sell it to us for $300,000. Since the value is more than the loan, though I am only able to put down 3-5%, would I have to pay PMI? You'd think with all of the mortgage calculators online it'd be one of the lines of info provided but I have yet to find one that does.

  • Questions about driving from Denver to Durango, CO?

I'm from Hawaii and we don't really have Interstates in the truest sense of the term, nor do we have toll roads. I'll be in Colorado shortly and will be driving from Denver to Durango. I've seen on various maps a toll road (E470 or something like that) and HOV lanes on I25 I believe it was. I'm going to sound like a total goober here, but how does one gain access to those lanes? My car will have two occupants, so I believe I qualify for the HOV lane. Oh, and what are the speed limits? Here they top out at 55 with a few small stretches at 65.

I've been driving for over 15 years, but all here on Oahu. One could drive all the way around the island in an hour or so without ever being out of sight of "civilization." I feel like some back-woods goober heading to the Big City.

  • Whack a Mole for cats?

I work full time and my cat is home alone all day. What I'd really like is a Whack a Mole-style game for him to play on his own. Perhaps internet controllable, or at least that turns on and off randomly. Anyone ever seen one? Any thoughts on how to make one? I can't think of any toy or device that I can modify to make what I want.

He loves to play his remote control mouse when I get home, and we play chase with a string. Thing is, he loves to go outside and chase lizards in the yard. I don't have the time in the morning to humor him, and depending on the season it's dark when I get home from work and I don't want him playing outside in the dark. He's an indoor cat and not allowed outside unless he's on his halter and leash with me or my husband. So, outside is the forbidden fruit that he really wants. I'm hoping the Whack a Mole thing will help curb some of his desire to be outside.

  • Twilight and sparkles?

I've not read and won't read the Twilight books, nor have I seen the movie. I keep hearing about sparkly vampires - what's the deal? The references I see to "sparkly vampires" is usually negative.

  • Planning a Colorado visit next year?

My husband and I are from Hawaii and have never been in snow. We'd like to go to Colorado next year (February, March-ish) and visit family, do some sight-seeing. Places we plan on going to are Denver, Durango and Cortez. Maybe Grand Lake.

Neither of us has seen snow, let alone drive in it. Any tips for non-metro driving? Obviously we'd be renting a car, any tips on what to get? I plan on making or picking up an emergency kit for the just-in-case situations (flares, cat litter, shovel, etc.) and then leave it with relatives if we don't need it.

It's been years since I last visited Denver and Cortez, so I'm really looking forward to it.

  • Yamaha C3 user review?

Has anyone ridden this scooter (moped, whatever)? It's kinda funny looking compared to most scooters, but I think that's part of its charm. That at the large storage area. What do you think about it? Most of the reviews I've seen are positive.

I'd be using it to commute, about 18 miles round trip, mostly flat or long but not steep inclines.

Any tips on helmets and locks?

  • If there was a one-stop place to get info on Hawaii, what would you want to know?

The company I work for is very invested in getting information to people who come to Hawaii. What are the top 5 to 10 things you want to know about when planning a trip or moving to Hawaii? Your responses are very valuable, so let me know what you want to know about. Who knows, your questions may lead to a one-stop info website.
