What difference would it make if a sitting American President goes to ground zero for a photo op? Both cities have been totally rebuild except for single buildings at the memorial sites. Isn't this equal to the President going to San Antonio, TX and visiting the Alamo? What is it going to change?

Previously the environmental groups fought to protect the land from power grids being built because it would impact endangered and threatened species and destroy scenic wilderness areas. Most of these power lines will go from the southwest were there are greater quantities of sun and open spaces and transport the power back east and to California were it is really needed. Why is it ok to destroy so much pristine wilderness now and not before? Why are we not hearing from the environmental groups at this time? Are they being bought off?
