  • Is Internet Explorer a virus?

I recently installed Windows 7, and I really hated Internet Explorer so I installed AOL Explorer to replace it. I noticed that there was a process called explorer.exe running, so I deleted all the IE files and rebooted. However, explorer.exe still kept running and everytime I tried to stop the process, it crashes my computer. How do I get rid of explorer.exe?

  • How to find the x of a parabola when given the y?

The equation I'm trying to do is

h=-0.5d^2+10d+2 and I'm trying to find out where it is on the x axis if the point is 12 on the y axis.

I'm assuming it has something to do with factoring but I was unable to factor it and used quadratic formula instead.

  • How do I solve this trinomial equation?

For example, if I throw a ball and h is the height of the ball (y-axis) and t represents time (x-axis), how long would the ball be above 10 meters?

I know I'm supposed to substitute in 10 as h or something like that, but I don't know where to go from there.

    h=at(the t is squared)+bt+a

  • Why is my computer not booting?

My computer has been down for 2 months now

    I RMA'd my motherboard (Sabertooth P67) 3 times, CPU (i5 2500K) and PSU (CX600) once.

I just got all 3 of my replacements back

I set it up, booted it up, and a bunch of random error lights on my motherboard turned on and off at random points (These included, Memory, CPU, VGA, Boot)

I changed my RAM slots, took out one stick, etc. But that did nothing

I cleared my CMOS and when I restarted, the computer stayed lit on the CPU_LED, restarted, then stayed on

I could smell some kind of burning plastic coming from the CPU heatsink.

The top of the motherboard and RAM also felt extremely hot, but the area around the CPU was fairly cold

    What's gong on?

  • Do I need 3D glasses that match the model of my 3DTV?

I recently bought a 46" Sony Bravia HX729 TV for a really cheap price, I don't really care about the 3D because I think it's just a fad, but since I paid for the feature, I might as well use it.

So, do I have to get a certain model of 3D glasses to use with my TV or would any glasses work?

I see a bunch of LG, Toshiba, and Samsung 3D glasses for about $15-$80, but the only Sony glasses I found were $100

So can I just buy any pair of 3D glasses and use them or do I have to buy a certain model of 3D Glasses for my TV?

  • Which part from my computer do I have to fix/replace?

    The parts in question are

    Galaxy GTX 470

    2 Sticks of Corsair XMS3 RAM (4GB each, 9-9-9-24, 1333MHz) in Dual-Channel

    i5 2500K

    ASUS Sabertooth P67 B3

Throughout the Black Friday weekend, my computer was experiencing Unexpected NVIDIA Driver Crashes, about once or twice per day over 10-15 hours of use per day. The screen would turn black for a few seconds, then Windows would say it recovered from an unexpected driver crash.

Starting yesterday, my computer started rebooting randomly, by itself. And today, while I was just browsing the Internet, my computer just froze, and the monitor went black. I pressed the reset button on my HAF X case to reboot my computer, but the monitor remained black. The computer had 2 beeps, then another 2 beeps about half a second after the first 2 beeps.

I changed the RAM channels, and the beeps stopped. I was experimenting with this, and when I took out a certain RAM stick, it would make 1 beep, followed by 2 more beeps about 3/4 of a second afterwards. This would only happen when I took out a certain stick, if I took out the other stick, nothing would change from when they were both in.

On the Sabertooth P67, there are LEDs that turn on to show hardware errors. When turning on my computer, the CPU LED is on, but after 2 or 3 seconds, the CPU LED turns off, and the DRAM LED turns on. I tried pressing the MemOK button on my motherboard but nothing happens. When I turn my computer off, the DRAM LED turns off too, followed by the CPU LED turning on again for a brief moment before my computer shuts off.

Thanks for reading this, and any idea on which part is broken, or how I could test to see which one is broken?

  • Why do people love these brands so much?

    Apple

    HP

    Alienware

All of them have crappy build quality and are marked up so much that they're around 2-3x their build price. IMO if more people bought Lenovo, ASUS and Sager laptops, they'd be able to order more parts at once at cheaper prices, resulting in cheaper prices for the consumer.

Also, just a tip for anyone looking to buy an Alienware, don't. The best gaming brands are ASUS, Origin and Sager

For any business computer, Lenovo would be the indefinite choice.

  • What are some good MP3 players?

I'm planning to sell my iPod Touch 32GB for $200 and I'm using that money to buy another MP3 player

It has to have 16GB+ of storage or expandable memory

It would be nice if it could view photos and/or videos but that's not really a need

    Any suggestions?

  • Which of these 3 cases are the best?

I noticed that my i5 2500K + Sabertooth P67 + Galaxy GTX 470 setup has been going to 60 Celsius on idle, 90 while gaming and even 100 while playing games with a client like Hamachi running on the background. I'm currently using the stock CPU cooler with a 650W PSU from OCZ with no fans inside my case simply because there's no expansion space to put it in.

TL;DR My computer is overheating and I need a new case. I'm currently decided between these 3. Any other suggestions would be good as well

  • Computer randomly crashes?

    Windows 7 SP1 x64 Ultimate

Ubuntu 10.10 x64 installed inside Windows

    Sabertooth P67 B3

    500GB SATA

    i5 2500K overclocked @3.7GHz

    Stock Fan

    Galaxy GTX 470 1.3GB @625 Core 1250 Shaders 1674 Memory (MHz)

    8GB DDR3 9-9-9-24

    OCZ 650W PSU

My PC randomly freezes, sometimes even before I login to Windows.

I defragged my disk and made sure all my registry keys weren't broken.

Does anyone know what caused this?

Also, when it crashes, my fans on my CPU and GPU spin the same but my PSU fan spins noticeably quicker. And if I'm playing music, the audio becomes all distorted

  • How and when should I upgrade my system?

I'm wondering if I should upgrade my system (Note I use it to play a lot of PC games with fraps sometimes and some work on Sony Vegas)

    Corsair 650W PSU

    Intel i5 2500k Quad Core OC 4.5GHz

    Hitachi 500GB 7200RPM

    ASUS Sabertooth P67

    Corsair 2x4GB=8GB 1333MHz 9-9-9-24

    GALAXY GTX 470 1.25GB OC 800MHz core, 1.6GHz Shader, 1675MHz Memory

I'm mostly concerned about my graphics card because a lot of people I talk to have 570s and 6950s, which far outperform the 470. Any tips would be nice, thanks.

  • What is this character? ?

I've seen it in a few posts but when I googled it, there weren't any results. I'm guessing it's not an ASCII character so what is it and what is it used for? How does it happen?

  • Bandwidth Monitoring Tools?

I need a tool that can monitor bandwidth usage, doesn't have to be for all computers on the network, just for 1 computer is fine, I could just install it on all of them and add up the usages. It has to be able to save the total amount downloaded if the software shuts down. Price doesn't really matter.

Would be nice if I could enter my monthly bandwidth limit and if I get close to it, there would be an alert and if it reset the counter automatically every 28/29/30/31 days
