2 AnswersPrimary & Secondary Education10 years agoIs this Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder?
Im not particularly tidy or bothered by germs but I've got this 'thing' about tins and packages etc. I can't stand to see them upside down, or the front of the labels facing the wrong way. It extends to having books arranged on the shelf in size, and CDs etc in alphabetical order. I count a lot as well, but worst of all, I've started to do the tin/packet thing in supermarkets and severely tempted in one or two friends houses - help!

3 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoHospital lost my blood test result that I had underactive thyroid now they say it's normal?
I've had symptoms for years, and have a really painfully enlarged thyroid, but every time it's confirmed by a blood test they do another one that comes back normal.
It's just happened again. I went to the hospital with a view to have an operation to reduce my thyroid so it was not so unbearably painful and troublesome. They found it to be under active and were going to send me a prescription but it never turned up, when I enquired what happened to my prescription they said they'd lost the abnormal result and then took another test that's come back normal so no prescription and no operation either.
I'd like to scream if only I had the energy. What can I do?

9 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoCSA Should have reduced payments - but haven't - what to do?
when we got married the CSA should have reduced my husband's payments to his ex by half and we got a letter to say so - but they've continued to take the money and presumably paid it to her.
Now they say they've got no proof that me and my husband were together because I didn't notify Child Benfit - but I DID!
What can we do?
is there a hope in hell of getting all the CSA overpayments back?
Will I get into trouble for not notifying Child Benefits even though I DID?
Is there anyone I can go and see to sort out the whole mess, or should I rely on phoning up call centres which hasn't worked too well so far.
does anyone have experience of this kind of thing and can advise us?
5 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoGenetic Cancer counselling - How do I bring the subject up with my sister?
I've been advised to seek genetic cancer counselling because I have two first degree relatives with/had colon cancer so I've made an appointment to see my doctor about it. Also, because I'm interested in family history I've discovered that a second degree relative had ovarian cancer which is associated with bowel cancer and raises the risk.
Sis is a bit, I wouldn't stay unstable, but....she only knows about one of them, so won't be aware of the issue. I've tried to bring the subject up on the phone without getting anywhere so far but she's broken off the conversation for some reason or other before I've properly got started. Neither of are able to travel to see each other at present, and a letter doesn't seem appropriate.
I'll wait now until I've seen the doctor, but he's already given me the brush off once so I don't have any high expectations of any in depth consultation or advice there.
I know she had a colonoscopy a couple of years ago which was clear so should I even tell her at all until I know something for definite?.
1 AnswerCancer1 decade agoPlot sold, completion delayed but the buyers are putting a fence round it?
my boyfriend sold a building plot. he's been told tha the buyer has paid but his solicitor has minor queries and is holding up completion. the thing is the buyers have a builder in puttig a fence round the plot. I realise they may hav had the builder booked, but still don't think they should do that. If they had to wait I think they'd be more likely to ask their solicitor to get a move on.
My boyfriend has a friendly relationship with them so he' is reluctant to make a fuss.
Should he? He won't say whether his sols know about the fence.
3 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoUK When did the post office start charging extra for packages over a certain size ?
I was recently a bit surprised at the high cost of posting a very light item in a polybags. Next time something really flimsy cost the same amount. When I asked why the clerk explained that because the bag had air in it and wasn't flat enough to go through the size guide (she'd already printed the label so it was a bit late to take it back and press all the air out).
I know I haven't posted any small packages for a while but I'm certain they were only based on weight so would like to know when it all changed ( and why no-one told me LOL)
Naturally next time I will sit on it until it goes flat
1 AnswerPolls & Surveys1 decade agoShould the bride pay for the hen night?
The chief bridesmaid has organised a stretch limo to the city and free/reduced night club entry. The journey is a round trip of abt £150 miles and she's asked everyone including the bride to pay £30 each for the car, champagne, sashes etc.
One of the bridesmaid's started moaning saying that the bride should pay it all. I thought traditionally the hens paid for the bride? It seems a very modest cost to me especially as the bride has bought all the bridesmaid dresses, tiaras etc and is allowing them to keep it all if they want.
What do you think?

3 AnswersMythology & Folklore1 decade agoPaypal Question - Refunding my money?
I paid for an item bought online from a private seller using Paypal. Two days later he told me that it had broken during packing, so I asked for a refund through Paypal.
The seller emailed that they were unable to make the refund until Paypal had done that thing where they pay a few pence into his account.
Knowing that Paypal hang onto people's money for a while, I reckoned that my money was still with them so I opened a dispute thinking they would put a hold on the money going into his account until the dispute was sorted out.
My question is firstly, how long does it take for a seller to get the money in their bank?
Secondly, do paypal put a hold on your money if there's an early dispute, or can the seller carry on and withdraw it anyway?
and thirdly, do they really need to do that thing with paying a small amount into the seller's account before I get my refund - especially if my money is still in the paypal system?
2 AnswersPersonal Finance1 decade agoAre you fed up with all the new characters in Emmerdale?
First there was 5 at home farm, plus the first wife and son makes 7.
4 at Butlers farm. 3 at the factory, the other vicar and his wife and one or two odd blokes. Maybe more I forgot about.
Do you think it is more interesting with so many new people and good that they are getting a lot of story lines, or do you think there are too many, and too boring to be worth watching?
11 AnswersSoap Operas1 decade agoPresent problems with my sister?
My sister usually gives me clothes for Christmas and birthdays but never in the colours I like, even though she sees me in the clothes I buy and we often talk about our preferences.
I know she enjoys many happy hours looking at catalogue clearance brochures, and often buys several of each item. I've often wondered if the things she gives me are some of these 'extras' (we're the same size) but have never been sure until this week when she came to visit and all her clothes were in the style and colours she gives me, several tops she was wearing were exactly the same as the ones I got from her.
That wouldn't be so bad if she wasn't so sniffy about what I buy her. I try really hard to find her something she'll like and often ask her the sort of things she wants, favourite perfume and brands or takes notes if she mentions something special. She's always casual about what I give her, never grateful and often doesn't acknowledge that she's received it or say thanks.
Every year I'm finding it more and more stressful to shop for her, and find I'm spending more and more money on her, more than I can really afford. I've often suggested that don't exchange presents, but buy ourselves something we'd like instead, but she won't hear of it.
Should I carry on as we are, or just keep the things wrapped up and give them back to her next year - I'm all out of ideas now.

or like the movie "the others" type of thing. I'd rather not have any erotic type stuff, and definitely not a gore fest, but psychological is ok, hopefully something you can't putdown. can anyone suggest a book or author to try? I haven't found anything else by James Patterson so far.
thank you
