  • How do you feel about lunch wedding receptions?

Hello yahoo answerers! First things first, I've worked every job in the wedding industry. I know how to throw a great party. My question to you, is how do you feel about attending a lunch time wedding (11-4) instead of an evening one (6-12). I'm debating about having my wedding be a day one not because of the lower cost, but to create a more casual and fun atmosphere to invite our entire family to with a VIP after party for our closest friends and family only. I plan on having a full bar, DJ, and amazing food regardless of the time. So if you were an invited guest to a day reception would you be excited?

  • Fundraising Activities for Charity Gala?

    Hello world of yahoo answers,

I work at a country club will be doing a large event for charity next year looking for new and fun ways to enhance our gala. Please understand that we already have a theme, menu, guest list, etc. We are hosting a Millionaire's Party (Food, Drinks, and Casino games such as poker, roulette, etc.) along with a silent auction (same night). What we are currently looking for are various fundraising activities that will go along with our upscale theme.

    For example:

We are selling glasses of champagne for $50 a glass each of which has a diamond in the bottom. Out of 100 glasses possible, only one of the diamonds are real (the others are plastic) valued at $1,000. At the beginning of the event guests can purchase a glass of champagne, and at the end of the event an appraiser will arrive who will then identify who won the real diamond.

  • What is the difference between a two bedroom apartment single, and a two bedroom apartment double?

Should be self explanatory with the question above. A good friend of mine and I are looking to move into an apartment on campus at our university and were a little unclear with the information online. Just trying to clear up some confusion.

  • Baby Shower Gift Help?

    Hello world of yahoo answers!

I'm going to try to be brief and may I thank anyone in advance who answers my question. I have been invited to a colleague's baby shower this upcoming Sunday and I am at a complete loss for what to get her. She and her husband have had registries at Target and Babys R'Us but since there have been three showers before this one the list is a little...lacking.

I would like to get them something thoughtful that they would use. My mother is also going to the shower and is buying diapers (so alas I do not want to get them that). If it helps at all this is their first child and the gender is a girl.

  • Verify the Identity sinθtanθ+cosθ=secθ ?

For the record, unlike many of the other people on here I do my own homework...just looking for someone out there to check my work and tell me where I may have gone wrong...here's what I came up with for the above problem....

    sinθtanθ+cosθ=secθ

    sinθ(sinθ/cosθ)+cosθ=(1/cosθ)

    ((sin^2)θ/cosθ)=(1/cosθ)-cosθ

    divide both sides by cosθ

    and the answer is (sin^2)θ????

    Is that right? :P

I appreciate anyone who took the time to review or answer this question :)

  • Just left my dog at a friend's house, feeling horrible...?

My family is leaving early tomorrow morning (Friday) for a wedding in Nashville (an 8 hour drive). We'll be gone until Sunday evening and are unable to bring our little dog (a 7 pound Chihuahua/Pekingese mix). She's not too bright but lovable and friendly. She is housebroken and responds when called. My concern is that our plan to have her taken care of while we were gone was to leave her at my friend's place who also have a small dog (a Shih tzu). One of his parents works through their home so she will not only get lots of attention but be fed and let out regularly. I love their family and I was mortified when (while I was giving them directions, medical stuff, etc.) my dog peed in their house! It was very very brief, she only squatted for a moment and popped right back up. I apologized profusely. They said it was totally fine as their dog pees when she gets excited. That is something my dog has never ever done. Should I be concerned?? These are good friends of mine and I would hate for my dog to destroy their house while I'm gone. Is she marking her territory?? Will this become a habit while she's there???

  • Camping for Divas in Michigan?

    Hello world of yahooanswers!

So let me preface this question with the fact that I was a girl scout for years and I loved camping. Tents, no electricity, no running water, etc. Now I live in the Ann Arbor Area and some of my friends would like to make the most and have a little vacation before the summer ends. We've decided on camping. However, we're also meeting up with friends from Grand Rapids for a total of 8 people. And some of them are divas. Now even though I don't consider this to be camping does anyone know of a site in the Lansing area (we're trying to ideally meet half way with the Grand Rapids group) that would have cabins?? None of us have an RV and we certainly aren't interested in renting. We could rent one or two (preferably one that would fit the eight of us). And definite benefits would be things like running water, electricity, and air conditioning. Nothing too fancy. Any suggestions or reviews? I've been looking at search engines which haven't been too helpful.

I want something elegant and complex looking, it doesn't have to be exactly like the picture above, but definately NOT something like this:

  • Recipe help please? (making something for a nut-allergic friend)?

    Here's my story:

I would like to ask one of my guy friends to prom and I would like to do this by spelling it out on cookies or cupcakes (preferably) and giving them to him in a few weeks. But there's a catch, he's allergic to most nuts and is lactose intolerant. Does anybody have a good recipe I can try? What would be more unromantic than having an allergic reaction after I just asked him on a date?? I am confident in my baking skills but would still prefer something at a beginner/intermediate cooking level...I'm open to all ideas!

    Thank you so much :)

  • Can you cinch your waist without a corset?

I have a project for school where we have to choose a character who lived before the 1600's and "be them for a day." The project includes constructing a costume (I'm Diane de Poitiers) and at the time (mid-1500's) it was fashionable to cinch your waist and flatten your chest. Since this is only for a school project and will probably never be worn again. I don't want to splurge on an expensive corset. Suggestions? I want it to look realistic, but not as dramatic as the late 1700's-1800's.

Here's a picture of the look I'm going for:
