  • What type of oral flea medicine should I give my cats?

I have only ever had to deal with fleas once about 6 years ago and it was bad...almost a year to get rid of them. Now I've noticed signs with my indoor only cats once again (flea poop where they've been laying for a while - tho no scratching). I really can't stand the topical flea medications as they make their coats feel funky. My poor kitties didn't get very much attention during the last flea infestation for sure! So I've heard that there is now effective oral medication but I don't know anything about it and can't afford a trip to the vet right now. I was going to order online but don't know what to chose. Can you please share your experience and advice? One cat is <10 pounds and one is >15 pounds (approximately). Both are about 13 years old.

  • How do I record to a VHS from my DVD player?

I have a Sony SLV-D300P which is a dual VCR/DVD player. Is there a way I can play a DVD and record it to a VHS tape? I've tried playing the DVD and pressing record but that doesn't work. Any other suggestions? I'd like to compile several of our "Elmo's World" DVDs onto one tape so it will be long-playing for our son who is addicted! :)

  • What's the best free online food journaling site?

I am looking for a website to journal my daily food intake. It needs to be free. I need to be able to view calories, fat, carbs, and fiber for every food item - in chart form, hopefully. Other charts and tracking info would be helpful. I also need to be able to input food items that are not in their database. I would like to be able to create recipes and all one serving of the recipe to the food log.

I have tried FitDay but it does not show you fiber content (except for daily total).

  • Am I the only person that doesn't think it's fun to hang out with someone who's been drinking?

I just made my husband cancel our dinner plans (supposed to be visiting with one of his friends) because I just couldn't handle the thought of going out when he's been drinking (again). He's not drunk - just well lubed and I can't stand it. Everyone else seems to think it's a blast to hang out with him when he's been drinking but it drives me nuts. Not only that...but then I'm left with the responsibility of driving, getting me and the baby ready, taking care of the baby the whole time, and not having anyone to talk to for most of the evening. Enjoying a meal out doesn't make up for all the other aggravation in my opinion. I ususally just grin and bear it. I spoke up today and now he's mad. Now I get to enjoy a pissy evening at home instead of a pissy evening at a resturant.

  • Do you have to store homemade salad dressing in the refrigerator?

Is it necessary to store homemade salad dressing in the refrigerator? It only has olive oil, vinegar, and herbs/seasonings. I have made it before and tried storing it in the fridge but it got thick and clumpy since olive oil solidifies as it gets colder. Since none of the ingredients need refrigeration, does the dressing?

  • Can you use Splenda in a Dessert Whipper Pro?

I have a Wilton Dessert Whipper Pro (it is like those things they use at starbucks to make whip cream to top the coffee). The instrucitons say not to use granular sugar and to use confectioners sugar instead. I'm wondering if you can use Splenda successfully. Does anyone have any experience with this?

  • How do you cook meatballs in tomato sauce?

I want to cook meatballs in the sauce - do I wait for the sauce to be heated through and then drop the meatballs in or can I put them in the cold sauce? What keeps them from sticking together? I plan on doing this in the crockpot.

  • What is the difference between brands of vitamins?

I am looking to start taking a multi-vitamin. What is the difference between brands? I've heard that the bioavailability is different but how do I know if a brand is worth taking? I can't afford GNC brand (or similar high-end names) but I'm guessing that the cheapest ones at Wal-Mart might not be worth it. I might also be looking for an essential fatty acid supplement.

  • Where is the cheapest place to get Atkins (or comparable) vitamins?

I am broke but planning to start Atkins on Monday. Where is the cheapest place to get Atkins vitamins/minerals and the essential fatty acids that are recommended? Or...is there another comparable cheaper brand?

Please skip any negative lectures about Atkins as it is recommended for a medical condition that I have (PCOS).
