Do I have autism? In fact, a colleague of mine recently told me that he thinks I am am autistic...?
To begin with, I did not start talking until I was 3 years old. I remember when I was 4 years old, with the exceptions of one preschool friend and my parents, no one understood what I was saying when I would speak, but by the time I was 5, most people were able to understand me.
Throughout my whole life, I have had a tendency to daydream a lot and can even forget about my surrounding world although as an adult I have learned to control this without losing track of time too often. I remember when I was 4 years old, my mother decided to see what would happen if she did make me get dressed. The result was that I spent several hours daydreaming about being able to fly while to an outside observer, I would have surely appeared as a naked child sitting on the floor while staring blankly into space.
My long daydream trances have served as both entertainment and inspiration to me. In fact, while daydreaming, there have been times when I have found solutions to problems I had been puzzling over.
When I was 5 years old, my kindergarten teachers would ask me to smile, but at that time, smiling was not something that came naturally to me. So, one day (again when I was 5), I remember looking in the bathroom mirror while trying to make a natural looking smile.
I have always it very uncomfortable to look directly into other people's eyes. To look into another person's eyes for me seems congruent to looking directly into a person's soul. So, when talking to other people, I have learned to focus on some other part of a given person's face, but I still occasionally get caught avoiding eye contact.
A few more things in no particular order... I have been reasonably successful as a math/physics teacher. My friends sometimes call me Mr. Encyclopedia. I have a great affinity for cats as I find them to be on the same wavelength as me. When I was 7, I told that I have ADD although I am not hyperactive and I question this now... I want to know what I am.
4 AnswersSpecial Education9 years agoHow is decided that a certain number of superdelegates go to a particular presidential candidate in a primary?
I am just wondering because it looks like it is not decided by the actual election which only determines the number of delegates and not superdelegates.
2 AnswersElections1 decade agoFor what number a > 1 is there only one solution to a^x = x^a?
I already know the solution. So, I think I can be a fairly good judge of what the best answer is. Show all work in order to get full consideration for the best answer.
6 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoWould it possible for a successful delivery to occur if an embryo of a feline was implanted inside a woman?
Okay, I know this question is a little silly. Nonetheless, I have heard about embryos of endangered species being implanted into other similar species. Cats and humans are both mammals. So, I was wondering if it would be possible, at least in theory.
5 AnswersBiology1 decade ago3^3 + 4^3 + 5^3 = 6^3 Can anyone else think of another nontrivial example?
Consider W^3 + X^3 + Y^3 = Z^3 where W, X, Y, and Z are positive integers. What is another example of (W, X, Y, Z) satisfying the equation without (W, X, Y, Z) being a integer multiple of (3, 4, 5, 6)? For example, I am not interested in
6^3 + 8^3 + 10^3 = 12^3 because we already know that the integer multiples of (3, 4, 5, 6) work.

Right now, I am planning a possible one week vacation to either Thailand or Malaysia. I am wondering which nation is generally considered safer.
