  • How many hermit crabs can live in a 20g long crabitat?

I recently changed hermit crabs from a 10g to a 20g long crabatat. i only had 3 at the time so, I went to the pet store and asked the guy there how many hermit crabs can live in a 20g crabatat. He told me only "4" I question his anwser though because, while at the store he was pinched by a crab and i think that was because he wasn t handeling them correctly. if he couldn t handle them correctly, it made me really second guess the info he gave me. At the time of my asking i had 1 golfballish sized hermit crab and two smaller ones (1 in maybe about an inche long including the shell) and the other maybe 1.5) i was hoping to put around 7 hermitcrabs in the 20g as i have created a nice looking home , hiding spaces , substrate (i do need ti buy more though it is enough to burry under to molt.) climbing things , 2 pools (salt water and fresh) and i feed them yummy foods such as honey , peanutbutter , fruits and veggies. i keep my temp and humidity at 80/80

  • herniated disc pain after microdiscectomy?

hello my name is Aimee I am 30 years old and had a microdiscectomy at 9:30 am tuesday the 12th. It is now 4:00 am on the third day the 14th. I am still having leg pain and getting some numbness in my foot. I am still walking like a drunk penguin. Is it normal to be having leg pain and back pain at this point? I am so afraid the surgery didn't go well. I am going on vacation on December 3 and I really wanted to be ok by then. Is it normal to still have leg/butt/back pain at this point. I have heard others say they woke up and.pain was gone right away! did the surgery.fail?

  • Waking up feeling weirdly disoriented?

I should mention that I am on anxiety medication along with pain killers and a muscle relaxer (due to a VERY painful herniated disc.) I go to sleep at might and wake up feeling as though my head is where my feet should be and that I have turned around. It makes me panic. Then I turn on the light and find that I am,perfectly fine and where I should be in my bed. I know this sounds silly but, it freaks me out this has happened maybe five times now. It has only happened after I started the muscle relaxer. I don't want to stop using it because I am literally in agony with out a good muscle relaxer and this one works so,well..do you think this weird waking up disoriented is serious? Do I need to tell my Dr?

  • Black Neon Tetra question.?

    I have a 10 gallon tank with:

    Betta Fish :1

    Mystery snails: 5

    Glass Shrimp: 3 or 4

    Neon Tetras:2

I read that Neon Tetras need to be housed with at least six however, I am doing this as a trial to be sure they are okay with the Betta. If they are will I be over stocked if I add a few more Tetras? Also, to school with the Black Neon Tetras do the other fish need to be Black Neons or will any kind of Tetra school with the Black Neons?

  • Acetaminophen codine about 8 hours after alchol?

I drank 2 small cans of Budweiser Margaritas (8% Alchol per can) then about 7 or 8 hours later without thinking I took half a perscription acetaminophen/codine for a tooth ache without thinking. Is this dangerous or will it just make me a bit tired?

  • What should I do with my mystery snail clutch?

early in the morning my mystery snail produced a little clutch of eggs. Now, I have African clawed frogs in my tank and I am worried that the clutch will slide or my frogs will eat the babies as soon as they hatch. Would it be okay for me to take a dry container and float it in the tank with the clutch in it?

  • I just got a bunch of potting in my eye!!!?

I did something really dumb about an hour and a half ago. I was checking on my new plants and noriced the last one had sprouted. I was really happy and I gently tried to blow some potting soil off the new sprout. You guessed it! Lots of potting soil got in my eye and I could literally see it between my lower lid and eyeball. I got it out with a wet tissue and yes I did#6 rub it. After that I put in some genaric eye drops and it stung like crazy. Even now an hour and a half later it feels.funny and a little itchy. I am blinking a lot too and my eye seems dry. Should I see a doctor or is this normal%

  • Do Glass Shrimp need an airstone?

I have about a three and a half gallon tank for my Betta Fish in my kitchen. It is not filtered ( i change the water frequently.) I don't use an air stone either. The fish has been fine without it. I also have a 20 gallon tank that does have a filter and had an air pump. There are frogs an a fish in it. I pump out and attached a smaller air stone for the 3 gallon tank because I recently put some Glass Shrimp in the tank with the Betta fish and I read that the Glass Shrimp need an air stone. My Betta seems unhappy with the bubbles and tries to get as far from them as he can. Is the problem that the pump for the 20 gallon tank is too much even with the smaller air stone attached? The air stone came with the little tank. Do the Glass Shrimp really need an air stone? My Betta seems to hate it so, I leave it on for a little while and then turn it off. What should I do? I can't put the Glass Shrimp in the bigger tank because they would be eaten for sure.

  • Hamsters & chemo patients?

My mom is almost half way done getting chemo treatments for cancer in the lining of her uterus . As the doctors are pretty sure they removed all of the cancer and it had not spread, my mom is having six chemo sessions just to be sure all of the cancer cells are gone as a precaution. I want to get a hamster but I heard it won't be healthy to have in the house until moms chemo is done. Is having a hamster in the same house as a person under going chemo very dangerous even if she isn't in contact with it much and never deals with cleaning up after it? We also have two dogs that we didn't give up because we love them so much.

  • What can i do for a limping dog who seems to have hurt herself?

I have an eight year old cockapoo. Yesterday my dad was cleaning the floor. My shih tzu lucy lu accidently knocked it over and the whole floor got wet. My dad saw bailey the cockapoo slide on the wet floor. We had to put her outside until the floor was cleaned. I noticed a little while later that she wad limping and then started getting around by kind of hopping on three legs. She has not been whimpering or anything but she wont put weight on her leg for about 24 hours. She has jumped of the couch and the bed without problem. I got her pet asprin at the store but today is Saturday. I don't think the vet will be open on Sunday and after that is christmas eve and christmas day. I doubt I can get her to the vet any time soon. Also because my hours have been drasticly cut at work money is an issue. Is there anything I can do for her besides the nutri vet asprin I plan to give her half of each day. (Half because it is for dogs 50-80ld dogs Bailey is around 30lbs.) Should I have her lay on my heating pad?

  • Question about dogs and Benadryl?

I am wondering if I have made a big mistake. This morning at around maybe 11:30 or so I gave my dog (an approximately 25lb cockapoo who is 8 years old) a teaspoon and a half of children's benadryl. Then around 7 or so I have her two 12.5 mg children's Benadryls. She isn't behaving differently other then being tired but I assume that is to be expected. Oh and I am just checking now a teaspoon and a half of children's benadryl 51/2 ml. Sorry if I am being confusing but I don't want to hurt my dog. The Vet has told me it is perfectly fine for her to have Benadryl but I just wonder if she has been overdosed today.

  • Will an air stone harm my african clawed frogs?

Hi everyone. To make a long story short I have a large goldfish sharing a tank with my three african clawed frogs. (No worries tank is large enough for all and my care is very good according to the pet store whom I gave some fish to the other day. They were astonded at the size!) Anyway, my last goldfish is having trouble. I know the tank is clean because I recently cleaned it though water purifier has still left it slightly cloudly. Anyway I went out and purchased a five inch stone filter which is made for 20 -70 gallon tanks. (Mine is a 20.) Anyway, I heard that these stone filters are no good for the frogs, however every time I stop it the fish begins gasping. Can stress cause fish to do this? Could it be illness? She was the only one doing this before I gave the other fish away (even after tank cleanings.) She does not gasp for air at the top when the stone filter is on. How often should gold fish come up for air? Will the filter and the air stone running together harm the frogs? I have to say I love them more then the fish. However, as an asmatic who is sitting here taking a treatment as she writes this, I know how it feels not to breath... Is it true that my frogs will feel like they have a jackhammer constantly going? Also, I know people say filters are bad fo frogs but, mine like to lay up against it. Do some frogs like these things? Would I be wrong in suspecting that there would be currents in their natural water and so the air pump and filter can't harm them much? Sorry if I am being confusing but, this is a genuine question. I am worried!

  • Religious question about vibrators?

I recently got a vibrator and was really excited about it. I wasn't really thinking about it being good or bad, I just thought of it as a way to do what needed to be done. I am 28 years old and single. I am even a virgin. However, I am very conflicted about Catholics using vibrators. I have read that some are very against it and call it a mortal sin, while others think it is okay. I am not involving anyone else and don't do it to "porn". Should I be feeling guilty about owning a vibrator. I have been raised to think that mastrabation is a very normal thing and I have a hard time thinking of it as a bad thing because, God created my body as a tempal and it seems to me that if God didn't want us to mastrabate he wouldn't let there be a way for us to enjoy what our bodies can naturally do. If there are any other single Catholics out there, could you please tell me if you use a vibrator? What do you do when you feel the need to release that built up tension. I don't have a boy friend and I am no where even close to being married. Also if we come to the conclusion that it is wrong and a serious sing to use one could you tell me why it is so bad? I did read that it is a sin because it is a sexual act that can not cause children to be born but, many Catholics are married and using birth control methods to prevent that too. Please take my question seriously as it is very difficult to discuss this toppic, I have even lied about getting the vibrator in the mail because I didn't know how to tell my mother that was what I ordered. Should I just throw the thing away?

My ankel has been swelling and the top middle secton of my foot is tender..the odd thing is that this has been going on for weeks now I don't remember hurting my foot. • Will My Fresh Water Clams Live?

I recently decided to get a smaller tank with a closed tank for my little 1 month old goldfish fry. To decorate the small container I decided to move my snails in with the babies ( snails won't eat them.) I also got some finely crushed rocks, a tank decoration and two small golden clams. I have been feeding algae wafers which the snails and the babies love and some frozen fry food. I recently read that fresh water golden clams need to be in a tank that has been running for two years! I just got mine yesterday. I have a larger tank but that one has African Clawed frogs. Should I move the clams into the larger tank with filtration that has been running for at least a year and a half or so - or will the clams be fine where they are?

  • How often do I need to feed goldfish fry?

I have about 18 or so new born goldfish fry ( will cull if I need to at a future point) Anyway, I know that they don't need to be fed until the second day but, I have some questions. Firstly the food for them is frozen so, do I scrape a little and give that to them? Also I have to work so, I won't be able to feed them every 4 hours. I can do a feeding around 5 am and 9am but, I won't be able to feed them until around 3:30 or 4 in the afternoon. Would it be okay for me to do 5, 9, 4 and a night time feeding around 10? Is that enough?

  • Please help with an egg situation!?

I just got a great surprise when I came home today! I believe my African clawed frogs - or my goldfish have layed eggs. I took the eggs out of the tank and put them in a smaller container of the same tank water to keep them from being eaten. How can I tell if they are frog or gold fish eggs? I did notice one fish brushing up against another fish's tummy. But, I have male and female frogs as well. The eggs were layed partly on the gravil and partly on a tank decoration. What should I do now? I wan to keep them alive and maybe let my preschool class watch them grow if I bring it into school. Can someone help me?

  • Is a three gallon tank okay for my betta fish?

Okay, here is the situation. I was at the pet store a few months back and I saw a sweet little betta fish living in maybe an inch of water at the most. He was so sweet and reminded me of Ponyo because his coloring is almost the same color as my own skin. I named him Prin Ponyo and he now lives ( I believe) quite contentedly in a three gallon triangle shaped tank, I will try to link to it later. I believe his heating situation is just fine. However, I read that a betta fish must have a five gallon tank. I have been doing everything I can to provide for this little guy who was an unexpected buy. I just want to know the three gallon tank will be okay. He has two leafs that stick on the the edges of the tank and he likes to float in them. He also has a hiding decoration and gravel. I assumed that this had to be better then living in an inch of water in a tiny little bowl for the rest of his life! Is three gallons okay for him? How warm should his water be?
