I accidentally ate a small piece of raw chicken?
I was just eating a Chicken Kiev for dinner, which seemed fully cooked through the most part. However, without looking I took a bite of the thickest part near the bone when it felt really chewy and I looked at what was left on my plate, seeing it was still raw in this area. I didn't swallow this, rather spitting it out into the bin. I did not continue to eat anymore of the chicken. What are my chances of getting sick?
8 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoHow should I write this letter of complaint?
I was never very good at English at school, but I am needing to write a letter of complaint to a restaurant that I recently dined at. In the letter, I need to specify that I was disappointed in the quality of the food (it was cold), and the fact that the menu does not cater for people with certain allergies and the staff were not willing to omit a certain ingredient that I could not have. I was forced to choose another item off the menu (quite limited, and very basic). I want to make it known that I will not be returning to that restaurant. Oh, and the last time I was there, I had salad which half way through it, I realised it contained a bug.
Sorry this is so long, thanks in advance.
3 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoWhat went wrong with my chocolate mousse?
Today I tried to make a Chocolate Mousse using the following recipe:
150g good quality dark cooking chocolate
100mL espresso coffee
4 eggs, separated
pinch of salt
100g caster sugar
250mL thickened cream, lightly whipped and kept refrigerated
1. Combine the chocolate and coffee in a heatproof bowl and place on a pot of just boiled water that has been removed from the heat. The residual steam will melt the chocolate.
2. Allow the chocolate mixture to cool slightly before whisking in the egg yolks.
3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites and salt until beginning to thicken. Slowly add the sugar and continue to beat until stiff peaks form. Do not overwhip or the egg whites will be too dry and hard to mix into the chocolate.
4. Stir the cream into the chocolate mixture until well combined.
5. Fold one third of the egg whites into the chocolate to lighten the mixture. Then gently fold in the remaining the egg whites.
6. Divide the mixture between 4 ramekins, small bowls or glasses or place in a single bowl and refrigerate, covered, for at least 3 hours or overnight.
The problem is, after refrigerating the mixture, I noticed a short while later that the mixture had started to separate. The top layer was setting, and was fluffy and foamy like a mousse should be. However the bottom layer was just like a chocolate milk, not setting and just like the mixture was before it was refrigerated. I know that to make two mixture combine, they have to be as similar as possible, hence why step 5 is done in stages. I was thinking that maybe I did not do this step correctly, because as I described above, the top layer of the mousse in the bowl was just like the beaten eggs I had at the end of step 3, and the bottom layer was more or less just the melted chocolate mixture at step 4. What else may have I done wrong? If it heaps, the recipe was out of a book titled 'The Basics: A really useful cookbook by Anthony Telford. Also, is it safe to actually consume a chocolate mousse which contains raw eggs?
4 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoCan I substitute this?
I have a recipe for a frozen chocolate swirl cheesecake. The recipe states to use 250g of ricotta cheese and 250g of cream cheese. Would it be possible for me to substitute the ricotta for more cream cheese?
1 AnswerCooking & Recipes1 decade agoDoes anyone have any ideas for a nice cheesecake recipe?
I have been asked to make a cheesecake for my families Easter get together on Sunday. I make them often, but have never really experimented with them or tried many new recipes. Does anyone have any ideas for any cheesecakes, either baked or unbaked, you have made that have worked and impressed?
4 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoDo I need to invite all of my co-workers?
I work in a large department store and will be celebrating my birthday in the coming months, and I would like to invite some of my co-workers, as well as family. However, as with anyone in any workplace, I know some of my co-workers better than others. Some I chat to often, and others are more or less just acquaintances, only conversing with them if it is necessary for work related matters. Is it ok just to invite those I feel most comfortable with, or am I obligated to invite all staff in my department?

3 AnswersHair1 decade agoWisdom Tooth removal?
I am having all four of my impacted wisdom teeth removed this week under a general anaesthetic in hospital. I am becoming very nervous about it, as I've heard it's quite painful. I'd appreciate any information anybody who has been through this before has. What are my chances of getting dry socket, and how can I minimise this? Do you have any tips or strategies for coping with pain?

Thanks, but I have played this game on this computer before. I went to run it the other day after not using it for a while, and that's when I discovered this issue.
1 AnswerOther - Games & Recreation1 decade agoHow was your Wisdom Tooth Extraction experience?
I am having all four of my wisdom teeth extracted in a couple of weeks, and I am already feeling very anxious about it. Is it really as bad as some of the stories I have heard? Was the pain severe and if so how did you manage it? I would really appreciate hearing from any of you who have relevant information.

I'm thinking about purchasing a new iPod touch. Can anybody tell me if it would work on my computer, which is an Acer Aspire 3680, with a Celeron processor, 80GB hard drive, 512 mB ram, running Windows Vista Basic 32 bit, with iTunes 8 installed. Also, I have an iPod nano 4th generation which works with these configurations.
