My miniature goat just had her baby about an hour and a half ago. The mother isn't even a year old yet. When the baby was born, she wasn't trying to clean the fluid off or anything, she would just nudge it and lay down beside it. I left her alone for a bit so she could calm down and when I came back, she was laying down on the opposite side of the dog house, away from the kid. I tried drying it off with a towel because it's cold outside (about 55 degrees Fahrenheit) and I don't want it to get sick.

I know from experience with dogs that if there's a sick baby, the mother will keep it away from the group and won't feed it. I'm not sure how goats are with that type of situation, but could there be something wrong with the kid? Or is the mother's instincts just not kicking in? Thanks.

I have a small chicken pen with three hens and a rooster inside. Where I live, there's not much grass and so our yard consists of mostly dirt, including the chicken pen. I've noticed my chickens have fleas on their combs and the top of their heads. I'm wondering if there is an eco-friendly way of controlling the flea infestation without harming my chickens. I own free-ranging chickens. They walk around in my back yard and have a small pen with a roof to keep them dry. My yard is surrounded by woods, and lately, I've had chickens go missing. I've also discovered feathers in various places near the fence. I'm assuming its a fox or a raccoon. Any tips, advice, or experiences on how to keep the predators out and away from my chickens?

They've been on me for a few days now & itch at random moments in the day.
