  • Deciding on a revolver...?

I'm in the market for a revolver and was wondering what some current owners had to say about what brand I should get. As far as caliber goes I want something big enough to stop a man nomatter what but not so huge I can't carry it comfortably. I'm thinking no smaller than a .38 cal. I like Smith & Wesson as well as Ruger, but am of course open to any other suggestions. Sources to support the information you give is imparative, if one is better than the other then i want to know why in the form of documentation.

I will be carrying it on duty as a Park Ranger.

  • Networking Problem, Vista and XP?

I have a Dell Desktop (wired) and an HP laptop (wieless) networked. I can see both computers from each machine and can access files on the Dell (XP) from the HP (Vista), but cannot access files on the Vista from the XP, because when I click on the Vista it asks for a password. I just set this network up and haven't set a password yet. Is there a default password? It won't accept a blank? What do I do?

  • Networking Problem, Vista and XP, help please?

I'm attempting to Network my 3 home computers together to share a printer, an external hard drive, and the shared folders on each individual PC. The machines are a Dell Desktop running XP (wired to the switch) , and two HP laptops running Vista (wireless). The networking device is a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. The printer is no problem since it is a nework printer already and all I have to do is plug it into the router and install the drivers on the computers, which is already done. The hard drive is easy two, I know how to share drives and folders once the network is already setup. After using the Windows network setup wizard I can see the Dell's shared drives and folders from the HP, but I cannot see the HP's shared drives and folders from the Dell, what's the problem?

If any more info is needed just let me know and I'll provide it. Thanks in advance.

  • Atheist Joke...?

Ok so I'm watching Dane Cook and he just told this joke about a meeting with an Atheist, and I thought it was hilarious. Normally Dane Cook doesn't impress me all that much but this was a good one.

Apparently he got sneezed on by an Atheist and he said "God Bless You. Well the Atheist said "I'm an Atheist." So Cook asked him what would happen to him after he died. The Atheist replied, "I will become one with the universe and become a fertilizer for this earth and come back as a beautiful tree!" So Cook thought it over and said it would be hilarious if that actually happened and he was chopped down, drug out of the woods through the mud with a chain, chopped up, made into paper, and print the Bible on him! HA!

    Isn't that hilarious?

I found the clip on You Tube, check it out. Obviously, it's funnier comming from the horse's mouth.

  • Golf Bag Strap and Bag Stand?

I just bought my girlfriend her first set of clubs, but the one she chose didn't come with a stand bag, just a regular bag. She really wants a stand (the bag won't stand on it's own), can I buy just the stand somewhere and attach it to the bag? She doesn't want wheels because we ride in the cart., but still wants the stand for when we go to the driving range. Has anyone ever done this before?

Also, I bought a new bag too, but it came with one of those "backpack style" shoulder straps. I thought it would be fine but I really don't like it, can I buy just a regular shoulder strap alone somewhere?

I've looked in some Pro Shops and on eBay but can't find anything. let me know if you have any suggestions.

  • My iPod took a ride in the washing machine?

So today was my girlfriend's turn to do the laundry and she didn't check the pockets in my jeans well enough, and my new iPod touch got a bath it didn't need. Needless to say it doesn't work anymore. I've heard of similiar things happening and the iPod comming back to life again a few days or weeks later when it dried out. Since water damage, let alone abuse as I assume it would be "officially termed," is not covered by either the manufacturers warranty or the Apple Care Protection Plan I purchased, I'm not left with many more options than prayer. I've got it sitting in glass filled with rice right now because I heard that should help dry it out. Has anyone else had experience with this method? Is it legitimate or just an old wives tell? Anything else I should try? I'd also like to know how to open the case if anyone knows how so I can clean the components incase any detergent got inside the unit. Water can dry but I'm woried the detergent will cause corrosion on the circuits.

  • OS questions...?

I'm currently running an HP dv9500t laptop with some very impressive specs. I have Vista Ultimate. I'm beginning to get really fed up with Windows. Every five seconds there's an update or a download or I need to restart or this or that, always something. It's a huge inconvenience I don't feel I deserve to have to deal with having purchased a $3,000 machine. Here are my questions, can I install Linux on my machine? If so, will that fix my problems? Also, will it void my warranty? Will I be able to un-do it if I choose? And can I run MS Office on Linux?

I'd just buy a MacBook Pro and be done with it but they are just sooo expensive, to match my specs I'd have to spend nearly $5,000.

  • Where can I find info to help me understand Radio?

I don't mean music and talk show radio, I mean radio as is the communcations device used by police, firemen, security companies, and major corporations. There are so many terms and different kinds of frequencies, it's hard to understand. I want to understand how radio works, and how to interpret information on sites like radioreference.com. I am attempting to program a Radio Shack Pro-97 Scanner, and understand for the most part what the manual tells me but I have learned that there is much more to it. Any info or good websites to go to, or books to read would be greatly appreciated.

  • Glasses and Contacts?

I am a 20 year old male going into training to be a North Carolina State Trooper. One of the requirements is to have 20/20 vision, if not naturally then with correction I recently tested at 20/25, and even though thats always been good enough for me they are still forcing me to get correction. Now I have never worn glasses or contacts, so my question actually has two parts. One, I want to keep the cost minimal when going in for my eye exam for my prescription and then afterward buying lenses and frames. I have heard that there are places with Optometrist and lense/frame facilites coupled together, where the exam is free if you buy the frames and lenses there. Where are these places? Is the Vision Center at Wal-Mart one of them? Two, should I get contacts or glasses? At least glasses would be a one time expenditure but then of course they could tell if I wasn't wearing them, contacts I have to continue to buy, but they sure would be easy to "pretend" to wear, if you catch my drift.

  • Flea Collars vs Drops vs Pills?

Any particular success or failure stories to help me choose the best option for my new Westie-Poo pup? My family has always used flea collars and had no problems, but we do treat our yard for such things so I'm not sure I've tested collars adequately. I don't like the discoloration of the coat that comes with drops though and I'm concerned about side effects with pills, especially in a small dog. Let me know what you think!

  • Westies, Poodles, and Westie-Poo's?

I have a new Westie-Poo, her name is Ellie and she is absolutely darling. Are there any current owners of Westies, Westie-Poo's, or Poodles that can tell me anything about how big she will get or any other specific info I might want? If it helps, you can see a lot more Westie in her than Poodle, I bet I could probably convince anyone not extremely familiar with Westies that she's purebred since she has the straight hair and Westie face. Anyway, no ignorant or derogatory comments please.
