  • How do I come to terms with being in an unfulfilling marriage? ?

I got married at 24 after a very short courtship, due to that being the norm in my religion. My husband's a good man and we get along alright. For the first year or so we were "in love", but since the honeymoon phase faded I'm finding that we just don't have much in common, and we hardly even talk to each other. There's nothing really seriously wrong enough in our relationship for me to feel I could justify ending it, especially as we now have 2 young children together, and I think my husband still loves me, but I don't know how we can improve our relationship when the main problem is that we just aren't right for each other on a basic level.

  • i accidentally lied on my job application and got an interview. Should I tell the interviewer about my mistake?

I was under severe time pressure when filling in the application and didn t have time to double check everything before sending it in. after being offered an interview, I looked back at my application and realised I had listed a couple of qualifications under "higher education" that should have been in "other relevant qualifications". I m worried that the employer will think i have studied these subjects at university level for 3+ years, when in reality they were part time courses which took less than a year. I really want this job, and I do believe I am qualified for it, but don t want to get fired a few weeks in if/when they realise I m not as smart as they think.

Should I just email them now to explain, or bring it up in the interview, or should I just not mention it?

  • Did I overhear a rape of sorts, or just a casual drunken hookup?

2 years ago I was on a residential training course for work. I was sharing accomodation with a girl who I had just met. we had separate bedrooms. A few days into the course, a (male) participant asked me if I knew whether my room mate had a boyfriend. I answered "yes". He said "S**t, is he here?" I said "no" to which he responded "Oh, then she doesn t have a boyfriend."

A few days later my room mate went out drinking with this guy and a few other people. She returned quite late, drunk, and with the aforementioned guy. I was in bed by this point, half asleep, but they were talking loudly. I heard my roommate say goodnight to the guy. I heard his voice but couldn t make out what he said, and then she said "I m not quite drunk enough for that." I heard him then say, "I have some beer in my room. Shall I bring it round?" My roommate hesitated for a moment, and then replied "yeah ok."

He went, came back a few minutes later, and for the next hour I heard the two of them laughing and talking in the living room, then the girl again told the guy it was time to go. It sounded like they went to the front door, she said good night to him several times, but he didn t seem to be getting the hint, then there was some talking I couldn t make out, followed by some kissing (or sucking) sounds, then they went in the bedroom and had sex. The next day, the guy was telling everyone that they had slept together. My roommate stopped coming to communal meals for a couple days.

    These are the ingredients:

    Vegetable oils,

    Water,

    Salt,

Emulsifier (mono- and Di-glycerides of fatty acids),

    Flavouring,

    Vitamins A and D,

    Colour (carotenes)

It says "suitable for vegetarians" and there is no allergy warning for milk, or anything for that matter.

  • Non-Islamic people descended from an Islamic region; How would you feel if a white British person assumed you were Muslim?

Basically in my job I run outdoor activities including campfires. We usually eat marshmallows at the end, but I once had a Muslim family on my activity who couldn't, as the marshmallows were not Halal-friendly. I have now purchased some Halal-approved marshmallows so nobody (apart from vegetarians) will have to miss out in future.

However, I don't quite know how to tell people that the marshmallows are Halal approved without sounding like I am making assumptions about their religion. Am I being overly P.C. and paranoid? Would you care if I wrongly assumed you were Muslim just because you "look" Muslim?

  • I can drive in the UK on my American license for 1 year. If I leave the country for a few days, does that year restart?

I m actually asking on behalf of my husband. He has been in the UK for almost 12 months now, so as of next wek he will no longer be able to drive in England using his American license. However, we are going on holiday to Italy for a few days next month so I m wondering if it s worth him getting a UK license, or will he get a fresh 12 months on his American license from the day we re-enter the UK?

  • Should I do the right thing or the smart thing, regarding my job?

I have been in my current job for almost 6 months. I was hired at the busiest time of year after the unexpected resignation of my predecessor, meaning I had already missed the start-of-year training, leaving me stressed and confused about my role. I am unhappy and intend to resign before long. My question is about when I should do so. If I quit now, my employers will be able to hire and train my replacement in time for the busy summer period. However, my employers are planning to send me on some training later in the spring which I think will really help me in my career, but if I quit right after that, I will be putting my employers, and my replacement, in the same position as last year, and being quite sneaky about it too. I think the smart thing is to stay for the training, but the right thing would be to resign sooner. What do you think?

  • Approximately how much does it cost to transport a static caravan 100 miles?

I have found an inexpensive caravan in Cornwall, but I need to stay in Dorset for work. Does anyone have an approximation of what I could expect to spend moving it? I really have no idea.

  • Do I have to work my full contractual notice while in my probation period?

I am leaving my job for a new one. My old employer has told me I must give 4 weeks notice, which is also what my contract says (although it doesn't specify whether this applies during my probation period). My new employers want me to start sooner though, and have told me that employment law says I only have to give 1 weeks notice during my probation. From what i've read online, I have to do what my contract says, and the 1 week thing is simply a minimum requirement. can anyone confirm this?

  • Living with my best friend is making me feel like we are strangers. Should I move out?

We have been best friends for years, but then I moved away for a while. When I came back, my partner and I moved in with my her and her partner. Since we started to live together though, it's like we aren't really friends anymore. I hardly see her becasue she works a lot, and when she is at home I feel like she is upset with me because me and my boyfriend aren't doing enough around the house or something. I am constantly worrying that I might have left a mess somewhere that she will be angry about. I don't think she really likes my partner much either. I want to move out, but I am worried about whether she and her partner will be offended if we move out, since they bought furniture for our room, and are probably expecting us to stay for a couple more months. Also, it would be economically better for us to stay here. Does anyone have any tips for how to deal with this kind of situation? Thanks for reading all this.

  • Mums and dads, is it worth waiting to have kids? Do you ever wish you had started your family earlier or later?

My husband and I have been married for 2 years. We are both 25 years old. We are trying to be sensible by waiting until we are more financially stable, more established in our careers, since we think it will be harder to 'catch up' financially, or go back into education or anything once we have children.

However, we do want to start a family very much, and would rather do it while we are young, healthy, flexible and full of energy.

As someone who is already a parent, what is your view? Do you ever wish you'd waited till you had your own house? Do you ever wish you were younger so you could keep up with your kids better? And wwhen it's all weighed in the balance, when is the best time?

  • I moved from the UK to the USA on april/10/14 and will return to the UK on march/22/15. which country should i be paying taxes to?

In both countries my taxes have been automatically deducted from my paycheck. I recently found out that because i will have been here for less than one tax year, i still count as a uk resident and will probably have to pay uk taxes on my american income, but i have already paid american taxes on it. Do i have to pay both countries, or am i entitled to a full refund from IRS?

  • What do guys hope to achieve by drive by flirting?

So today a guy wolf whistled at me and said " Sup babe?" while driving past me. I didn t really mind. It was a kind of obnoxious compliment. He slowed down, but did not stop his car, so what was he hoping to achieve? What are guys trying to do when they do things like wolf whistling and cat calling? They aren t trying to start a conersation or anything. What s the point?

  • should I always tell my husband when a guy hits on me?

I will probably ask him his opinion on this too.

Occasionally a guy will flirt with me or hit on me, and I pretty much always tell my husband, partly to keep things in the open, and partly because I like it when he gets slightly jealous about me. Is that the right thing to do, or is it just mean to make him feel jealous over some passing comment of a guy I will probably never meet again?

  • Guys: how would you feel if, the first time you took her out, you learned your date was a virgin?

In her early 20s. Would you be shocked, unphased, pleased, disappointed, turned on/off? I am just curious.

Bonus question: what if she wanted to wait until marriage?

  • paying child support despite the fact that the child lives with me!?

So, this is my friend's situation:

He was paying child support for his 16 year old son, who lived with his mom (my friends ex wife). Sadly, the mom/ex wife passed away. Now his son is living with him, but he is still paying child support, which his son is not receiving and, obviously, neither is his ex wife. What steps does he need to take to change this?
