  • Is SSDI counted as income in calculating child support?

If you receive SSDI benefits for both you and your child, and your child does not live with you (you are not the custodial parent), would you have to figure this into child support calculation? For example if your monthly income from wages earned is $3500 and you earn $1000 monthly in SSDI and an additional $700 for the minor of the disabled, when calculating child support do you have to say that your monthly income is $5200 a month? Since both parents are responsible for a certain percentage of support for a child, and the SSDI is in the child's name, who would count the SSDI as income? If the custodial parent counts it they could be entitled to less support from the non-custodial, and if they count it, then they could owe more child support and that would not be fair... Any legal guidelines would be helpful too. Thanks

  • laminate stairs installation?

I am installing laminate (Pergo) on my stairs. The subfloor is wood. The width of my stair edge is wider than the stair lip that I ordered so the lip does not wrap around and cover the edge. How do I fix this problem? Do I need to order a wider lip or do I need to modify the steps and thin them? If I have to thin them down( which hopefully there is an alternative), how do I do it?

  • children left behind after suicide of their father?

My god son is going through a lot. Last year his dad committed suicide after many years deployed. His mom is a widow, sick with Lupus and he was not going to school. She is too ill to get them up in the morning. His absences became a problem, but Since I started driving him everyday, he is finally caught up in all of the days he has missed, however he is still being punished for not being at school regularty from before awhich is out of his control. His mom doesnt wake him up because she is very sick. i am now taking him to school but the teachers are punishing him for homework that is past due. He needs to get up to speed witht the other students before he can be held to the same standards as the other students. I want the teachers to recognize his unusual situationa and come up with a solution on how to get him to want to come to school every day without fear of being punished. He has no behavioural problems ad I wish the teachers would give him the opportunity to catch up before immediately punishing him for things he cant control. How should I handle this touchy situation?

  • Staining a pine table?

I am refinishing a coffee table (my first time ever) that my grandma gave me. It is pine. I removed the old varnish and sanded using both a 120 grit and a fine 220 grit. I tried to apply some water based stain but it came out too dark and splotchy. I read some things online and realized that I was supposed to put a wood conditioner on it? Will I be able to get off the stain I just applied so that I can re-sand and use the conditioner? Also, any idea what the darkest color I can stain pine without it looking horrible? Thanks!

  • How to control a 9 month old yellow lab?

We love our 9 month old yellow lab. We got him as a rescue as a companion for our 6 month old chocolate lab. He has a LOT of energy and has had no training. I am attempting to train him, but he is just too hyper! He knows sit and stay, but most of the time is too excited to execute the commands. He jumps on me when I get in the house and I am worried he will hurt me, a guest, or my other chocolate lab puppy as he is a bit bigger still. Our chocolate lab is hyper also, but is very obedient and does not jump at all. I guess I was hoping that I could control the yellow one as I do the chocolate, but so far, not been successful! Any suggestions? I play with them for hours. I play fetch, frisbee, run, and they play with each other until they are exhausted. After they are exhausted, he listens better, but because he is mainly treat motivated, he doesnt seem to eager to please me. How do I get him to respond to praise and want to please me without treats?

  • Statute of limitations for debt collectors?

I know that the statute of limitations by which a debt collector can collect on a debt varies from state to state, but how do you determine which state's statute of limitations laws to use? Is it the state you are living in, the state which the debt collection agency resides, or the state the original creditor is based in?

  • Can I collect unemployment benefits?

My husband is in the military so we had to relocate to a new state about two months ago. I left a good job and now I cant find ANY employment. Since I voluntarily (though I wouldn't neccessarily consider it that) quit my job to move with my husband due to his military orders, would I still be eligible for unemployment?

  • How do I get a job in a pharmacy?

I am applying for admission to a PharmD program next fall and I need to get some experience working in a pharmacy. I currently have no experience working in a pharmacy. My background is in finance and accounting, but I quit my job to go back to school full time and get my doctorates. I have filled out many internet applications but have not heard anything and I have asked about internships and they usually dont do those until you are in your second or third year of grad school. Any suggessions on how I can get my foot in the door? This work experience would really help me with admissions next year. Thanks!

  • Better Honeymoon - Fiji or Tahiti?

My husband and I are going on our belated honeymoon. We are having a hard time deciding between Tahiti and Fiji. We are both avid divers and would like to spend about 70% of our time diving and 30% relaxing. We dont have a huge budget but would like to try to stay somewhere nice since he has been in Afghanistan for the past year (he is ready for some pampering!). Any ideas of places to stay or input as to which location would be best and why? Thanks!!

  • I just found out I dont have the GPA to get into the Pharmacy program. What can I do and how do I deal?

I tried to transfer my credits from the technical college to the local University and I discovered that while the tech school replaced my F's (I had two my first year) with the grade I got when I retook the class, the University would factor them into my GPA. Now I will need at least a 3.5 and I only have a 2.89. How do I bring my GPA up without having to take a bunch of unnecessary classes?

  • Can I join the army if I had asthma during childhood?

I gave my recruiter some of my medical files from childhood to send to MEPS to explain and account for my multiple scars on my face and head. The original injurys were from a dog bite, for which I also had two reconstructive surgeries. When I submitted the medical files, apparently there was something in one of them stating that I had "asthmatic bronchitis". I had no clue of any of this. My mom said that yes, I did when I was a child. Will I still be able to join, and what do I need to do to prove to them that I do not have asthma?

  • Debt collector threatening to sue.... I offered to make payments but they said they will take me to court?

I had service from a private radiology company while in the hospital. I was not aware that I owed them money until a private collection agency took the debt and began to call me. I offered to make payments, but they will not accept! I My total debt is only 400.00. I really want to pay them but I cant do it all at once. I have offered them 100.00 per month. I think this is a fair offer and I can't imagine that any judge would grant them even that considering that my income is under 1000.00 a month. Is there anything I can do?! I don't want to go to court but they aren't accepting my offers.

  • Unfair housing?

My apartment community is going bankrupt, so they haven't been out to fix anything in a long time. When I received a $400 electricity bill I was sooo mad. I have asked them to come and fix my air-conditioner which runs CONSTANTLY and never seems to keep the place cool. They have been out 13 times in the past year and half, every time they tell us they've fixed the problem. Why won't they just replace it!! Now I realize that our spare bathroom is leaking terribly. The worst part? It's leaking HOT water!! No wonder our electric bill is so high!! I am so fed up with them never fixing anything and it costing us so much money. Just last week our refrigerator broke and all of our groceries spoiled. They came and replaced our refrigerator, but what about all of the groceries we had to throw away? We are stuck in this lease until November. There has to be something we can do, or some authority we can contact. Any ideas? Help!

  • Monthly income is less than monthly expenses?

At this time, with my monthly electricity and gas expenses exceeding 700 dollars per month, My monthly expenses are greater than my monthly take-home earnings. I am cutting corners and can't afford to cut anymore. I can't afford to make any payments on my outstanding debts. Is filing for bankruptcy really the only way? I already have terrible credit (score is like a 580) so I guess it wouldn't really matter. If I pay all of my creditors off, I will still have terrible credit. What should I do?

  • Will my failure to pay another college effect my eligibility for graduation at another college?

Before I began attending the college I am currently at, I spent two semesters at another "scam school." It was not accredited and none of my credits transferred. I am not in default on any of my student loans, however, I still owe the college two thousand dollars. Will the fact that I still owe them money effect my ability to graduate from my current school even though I am using none of the credits earned from that institution?
