  • Is the another way to request a forgotten gmail username?

I've been trying to use the forgotten username page, but although I have a secondary email address, it also asks for the name (as in first name/surname) I signed up with. After I input these, it claims something is wrong. I definitely know the secondary address is correct, and I've tried putting in my name with and without the first name as an initial (as that's the only alternate way I can think I would have written it), but it still claims something is incorrect and now I'm getting a message saying I've exceeded the number of attempts with that secondary email address.

I can't figure out what's going wrong. Is there any other way to request your username, or I am going to lose this account and every account associated with this email?

  • My PS3 controller has stopped vibrating, is there a way to fix it?

The sticks and buttons work, and I've checked the settings on the PS3 menu and in game, but it's just stopped. Is there any way to fix this?

  • Twitter is refusing to load in Safari, it just gives a black screen?

Twitter is refusing to load in safari. I've tried going to the homepage, and going through links in google etc but every time it just loads a black screen. I'm not having this problem with any other site, and it doesn't seem like anyone else is. I've tried clearing cookies, but I don't know what else to try because the problem is only affecting one site. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • What's the difference between a 10 amp and 13 amp extension lead?

    I know, 3 amps.

I need an extension lead, but having been to shop to get one I'm not sure what I need. What is the actual difference between a 10 and a 13 amp lead in terms of what it means for what I'm using it for? The things I'll be plugging into it will include phone charger, laptop, guitar practice amp and effects pedal (although not all four at the same time). Is there a perceivable difference between the two in terms of power consumption and output? Also is having a lead with separate on/off switches on each socket just for safety purposes or does that also have an effect on the two issues mentioned?

  • Any recommendations for a not too expensive camcorder that can handle low/indoor light?

I need a camcorder to record a wedding (just the day generally not specifically the ceremony). I'm not looking for something pro level, but I'd really like something that's going to be able to handle indoor filming/sound. I've done a lot of research, but the more I read, the more the reviews seem to contradict each other. Here's what I'm looking for, and why I'm confused.

-HD I guess. Progressive or interlaced- I understand the difference but I don't know how much it's actually going to affect what I want to do or what I want to use it for except for 'one is better than the other'.

-A decent battery life/recharge time. This information is lacking on most things I've read.

-Decent (or some) image stabilisation as most of the filming is likely to be done moving around.

    -Good optical zoom.

    -Microphone port.

-Somewhere around or below the £300 point.

The last is going to be one of the most problematic I guess. I was looking at the Panasonic V700 but it's just coming in above my price range. I'm willing to compromise some things, but the important thing is being able to get decent picture in low light and decent sound quality. If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it.

  • Do sound hole covers reduce the volume from an acoustic guitar, and if so how much?

I know that they're generally meant to be used to eliminate feedback when recording, but can they make the sound coming from an acoustic quieter too? I did try researching online but there seem to be massively different opinions on how much of an effect they have. I really want to be able to practice on my acoustic at night without annoying people (I'm not hitting the strings particularly hard incidentally, the house appears to have stupidly thin walls). I play a Yamaha APX500ii, which has a slightly oval sound hole so I'd have to order one from Yamaha, and would like to know if it's actually going to be useful before I do. Any help would be really appreciated.

  • Why are there two versions of Shelley's 'Love's Philosophy'? Is one correct?

This is one of my favourite poems. I went to buy a book of Shelley's collected work today, and looked it up to make sure it was there. I was confused by the fact that the seventh line of each verse was different to how I knew it, and having looked it up, there seem to be two versions on the internet.

In the version I knew the seventh lines of each verse are:

"In one another's being mingle" and "What are all these kissings worth"

    but in the 'second' version:

"In one spirit meet and mingle" and "What is all this sweet work worth"

Is one of these correct? Or were there two published versions? I can't find any information on this online, and would appreciate it if anyone who knows about this could help.

  • What is a size 1/4 hex nut in UK sizing (e.g. M4, M5)?

I've tried comparing the dimensions but I can't find a definitive answer, unless they don't convert directly? If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it.

  • How can I improve my terrible (20KB/s) average download speed? (Fileserve not p2p)?

I've been trying to download some fairly large files (500MB), and the first I tried a couple of days ago downloaded in a couple of hours, which while slow to some, was ok for me. Since then though, I haven't been able to get a download to complete- the speed is constantly shooting between 0 and 30KB/s (mostly low), and even if I leave the computer downloading for hours, there is an error and then the whole file is lost. I've tried different files, but the same thing happens. I don't think my broadband is being capped, and a broadband speed check shows up better speeds. I tried searching the net and found people complaining that their speeds were 'only' 150KB/s, so there must be a problem somewhere. Can anyone suggest anything?

  • How can I get rid of a BitDefender advert that is blocking my desktop, and has no close button?

Since yesterday we have started to get an offer pop up from BitDefender (our version expired)- it is a 'limited offer' one, and if you click it, it switches to a 'buy now' box. But the box cannot be closed as it has no close option, cannot be dragged around the screen, and sits on top the desktop and any program (internet explorer/office etc) that you have open. I have looked in task manager, but the only related thing I can see is bdagent.exe, which will not close. Is there any way to get rid of this?

  • Is Music Theory for Dummies any good? Has anyone read it?

I have the AB books, but they can be a little dry in places. I've found some of the Dummies music books good in the past, but I'm aware that this book is written with american terminology. If it's just a case of the note names being different that's not a problem, but has anyone read it and please could you tell me if the UK/US differences are a problem anywhere else?

  • My post on a fan page only shows up to me?

I posted a comment on a facebook fan page (actually a shop page, as it's the only way to get their customer services to reply to you), but it isn't showing up on the page, except when I log in to my account, which I presume means that only I can see it. I can't delete it either. Is there a way to make posts on fan pages show up? My settings are set to recommended, so I don't think that is the problem.

    Thanks.

  • What's the grip like on a Fisher space pen?

I write a lot (Moleskine user), and I've been using a Parker jotter for a while. I like the the smoothness of the writing and the look, but I find that my hand aches after a while as I struggle to grip the smooth barrel, so it's difficult to write neatly. I know the Fisher pen has a grip, but I'm not sure if it will actually help or if it's just the style of the pen. Can anyone help, or suggest anything else?

  • What's the best way to renew a domain?

I've had a domain with GoDaddy which needs renewing. I haven't really used it, but as I want to renew it, am I best just doing it with them, or is there likely to be any benefit to switching it to another company? Do you have to pay transfer charges as well as a renewel cost with the new company/host?

  • Is an A6 graphics tablet too small for cartoon style artwork?

I draw a lot and am looking for a graphics tablet. I've been taking a look at the entry level Wacom range (I have looked at the cheaper ranges, but everyone I know who has used tablets has suggested I go for a Wacom), probably the Bamboo or possibly the One. Does anyone who has done a lot of tablet-based artwork have any recommendations when it comes to size? The A6 is a lot closer to my price range, but am I likely to regret not going for a bigger tablet? There are no stores carrying them near me, so I can't go and try them out.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Windows folders/photo gallery not displaying images correctly?

Since I added a few new images to a picture folder in windows, some aren't displaying correctly as thumbnails- they show up as a sort of stretched line. If I open them in windows photo gallery they do the same thing, although if I open them in internet explorer they do open correctly. They were all jpegs, all from the same source, and some saved at the same time show up as normal, so I can't make any sense of it. Can anyone help?

  • Has anyone bought a domain from GoDaddy auctions, or can you explain the process?

I want to bid on a domain name that whose auction is ending in a day or so. It is not a high priced domain, or one that is particularly desirable, so this isn't a question about how I should try to win the auction, but I am a bit confused about the process, specifically how much you end up paying in terms of membership fees just to bid, a renewal fee that you seem to have to pay GoDaddy as soon as you win (if you win), and what effect the fact that it is an entended auction has. The site says "Auction will extend an additional 2 minutes after the last bid". Does this mean that people can continue bidding indefinitely, until someone gives up?

Thanks in advance for any help.
