  • Can I smooth out 12V from a wall wart using a simple cap?

I have 2 LED strips that I power using an old 12V wall wart. The LEDs work but pulsate a bit and I am pretty sure the wall wart 12V (DC) is unfiltered in any way. Can I simply put a capacitor across the 12v line to smooth is out and drop the pulsing a bit? If so what mfd size?

    Thanks!

  • Can you delete a gta 5 dlc PS3?

My 1.15 dlc 4th of July screwed up big time. Only 1 user has the cars even though it states there are new cars for other users and when in other users, you have the musket and firework launcher but can't buy ammo for them. Also all users can't buy soda from soda machines now.

What I would like to do is delete the dlc and have it instal again.

  • Can salt made to be glass like?

I am curious about salt. I know it can melt so can it be cooled into a sheet or block then be sanded and polished to be clear?

I have no use for this but just started thinking about it and how table sugar looks white due to its refractive index and imperfections in the surface that scatters light. Yet it can be melted and molded into near perfect clear items.

I think salt would be similar in property.

    Thanks.

  • Is there a free reverse lookup for U.S.?

I get unsolicited calls (3-4 a week) and I like to search to see who called. Sometimes I can find the info online from others that get the same calls but most of the time I hit dead ends with companies that say they know all the info for the caller but want to charge me to find it.

Now I just like doing a bit of detective work and am curious about who calls me but I really don't want to spend cash to find out.

I have heard there are truly free reverse lookups but I can't seem to find even one.

So, do you know of one and can I get a link?

    Thanks!

  • Can I created a whole page css gradient background?

I see lots of tutorials to create a css3 gradient box but I want to create a gradient background that will fill the page whatever size the user sees and it should scroll.

I don't want to define just a box with gradient.

So, can you define a css3 gradient that is not limited to a box specific size (and I don't want to use an image as they screw with some cell phones screen size).

I use Dreamweaver CS5 in case that makes any difference.

  • PS3 GTA 5 what is the E brake?

Playing GTA 5 while driving I keep hearing people mention the E-brake and I would like to know what button(s) it is to use it on a PS3.

I know it's NOT the normal L2 brake alone.

    Thanks!

Math that is way over my head need help?

So I am trying to buy a valve. The valves are rated by how many gallons per minute that can flow through them.

The valve I am looking at is rated at 12 (Cv=12) this is for water at viscosity of 1cps. The epoxy that will go through the valve is 1,000cps and I need to know what that converts to in gallons per minute. Below is the equation as given by the valve company.

    ---------------------------------

Mathematically the flow coefficient can be expressed as:

    where:

Cv = Flow coefficient or flow capacity rating of valve.

F = Rate of flow (US gallons per minute).

SG = Specific gravity of fluid (Water = 1).

ΔP = Pressure drop across valve (psi).

  • Simple DC motor controller needed?

I need as simple (read low cost) way to control motor speed for a small DC motor. The motor draws at most 0.1amp at 5 volts. I would like to use a simple potentiometer.

I am trying to develop a low cost product for crafters and they are very money conscience.

I was thinking something using a 555 timer and a few caps?

    Thanks for any help.

  • Will a root lifting a slab decay and drop the slab?

While I have a real life situation I am asking the question more to settle a bet so please just ask the very specific question.

If there is a tree root lifting a concrete slab, if you cut the root would it rot over time and lower the slab?

Please understand I am not looking for things like, more roots will grow under it, you need to remove the slab, you need a root barrier.... Just an answer to the exact question. I already know the right way to fix it but I have two people telling me something else.

One says the root will never rot and will continue to grow (not bloody likely). The other person says the slab would just stay lifted no matter what.

My theory is that (assuming you prevent further roots from growing under it) that if you cut the root right before the slab it would eventually rot (decompose) and lower the slab over a long time (year or more). I don't think it would lower it 100% but maybe like 80-90%.

  • Is HDR useful when shooting isolated jewelry?

I sell jewelry supplies and my trusty Nikon point and shoot is dying. My issue is I shoot shiny items (many silver) and all my items are isolated on white. This is crazy hard but with Photoshop I have gotten use to it over the years.

I am going to buy a Lumix camera and I am wondering if HDR mode might be helpful in shooting shiny silver on white background. I always have to adjust the "Curves" to get the background pure white and with silver jewelry items this can be tricky.

Please don't suggest DSLR's to me, I had a few and I always came back to my point and shoots and got better results. Problem is I would learn the DSLR and it might be months before I use it again and I would forget everything and get frustrated. I have good lighting and like I said I have had excellent results with my older Nikon PS camera but it's dying (dropped one to many times).

    Thanks!

  • Where can I find planes in Grand Theft Auto 5 GTA5?

Played GTA5 for a few hours so far and I would like to try out flying planes. The only planes I have found so far are on the military base and I tried a bunch of times but get killed quickly there. So are there any planes I can fly that are NOT on the base? And if so where?

    Thanks

  • Cheap easy way to do bank transfer to China?

I order products from China. Some of the companies only accept bank transfers. I did this once from my bank and it was $40 and I had to fill out complicated forms (that I screwed up 3 times). Is there a service or company that can do transfers to China banks for business purposes?

Preferably that charge less than $40 and make it easy to fill out paperwork?

  • Customs in Spain asking for shippers ID?

I have been shipping products all over the world for 10+ years from my small home based business. I use Endica which contains all my information and this puts electronic shipper verification (ID) on the label.

I now have a customer in Spain having a problem getting their packages ($250 value) out of Spain customs. Now the customer said that "I" (as the shipper) need to provide a passport # or copy of an ID so the customer can get the package released.

Understand I can see through tracking that the package is still in customs and has been for some time (a week or more) and I don't believe that the customer themselves are trying to pull anything funny but I am not going to give my ID to a foreign country without some sort of legal request.

I am wondering if anybody else has ever heard of this?

  • G force load calculations?

I make camera mounts for GoPro cameras and wanted to be able to rate it on strength that makes sense in harsh environments they are used in so I thought it would be good to tell people how many G's they can take.

I tested the mount at it's weakest point using a fish scale that records up to 50lbs of pulling force. I maxed out the scale past the 50lb point with no damage at all to the mount.

I would like to equate this 50lbs into how many G's it is and I think it's just over 133 but need someone to check my math.

    50 x 16 = 800 (800 ounces of force)

    800 / 6 = 133.3333+ (camera weight 6oz)

So did I do this right or did I completely screw it up?

And if I did screw it up what is the right answer.

  • What is the best plastic for vacuum forming resin molds?

I want to know what the best plastic is (and thickness) for vacuum forming molds for resin jewelry items.

I have heard lots of different plastics such as HDPE, polypropylene, PVC and more. I have tried a few but none seem ideal.

What I need is good detail (no super small detail), very easy release with a release agent, and high gloss so the finished item is glossy (I can make sure the original is glossy).

Basically I have a small dental vacuform machine and a 3D printer and I want to print my designs, finish them (sand, fill and seal) then make molds for use with resins (99% will be epoxy resin).

10 points for a good answer!

    Thanks!

  • Looking for the name of an 80's RC monster truck?

So in the mid 80's I had a monster truck RC (kit) that was crazy big for the time. It was the largest in a store that was only for RC products. This was when the original RC10 was out (gold ALUMINIUM ).

The truck was 4WD and used a chain drive. I believe the speed controller was mechanical as well. I bought the largest add on tires they made at the time and I could drop the truck from 3ft and it would softly land due to the 2" or so shock travel. Oh and the shocks were aluminum (blue I think, but I could be wrong) also it was a full ball bearing kit when all the others were optional ball bearings.

It's driving me nuts that I can't think of the name or even the brand. Oh and it was electric. It seems that I remember the brand was not well known then but became one of the big ones. Maybe Traxxas or something.

I think I will remember if someone mentions the right name, it was a unique name but not a known name (like bigfoot).

    Thanks!
