  • Boyfriend's barky dog- what to do?

Every time someone approaches us, the house, or the car, the dog starts a persistent, non-aggressive barking. My bf never tells the dog to stop; instead he tells everyone that "it's okay, he's friendly." The barking is annoying as hell, and embarrassing since I would never let my dog do that. I get barked at every single time I go to visit my bf, right up until the moment I yell at the dog to stop (he doesn't tell it to stop). Any suggestions?

  • Am I being unreasonable about my boyfriend's dog?

I'm a cat person, but I like dogs fine. My bf's dog is super-smelly, like when you get in his car you start choking on dog smell. His house is a little better. I've asked him to bathe the dog more so it's not so offensive, but he doesn't. I ask him to leave the dog home more often; he accuses me of hating his dog and competing with it. He gets bent when I don't want to take the dog on walks, because it barks at everyone, pees on everything, and he refuses to leash it in Leash-Only areas. I play with the dog on occasion, but won't let it in my house because of the smell; he thinks I'm insensitive to his pet. What do YOU think?

  • Is it shallow if I wish my boyfriend made more money? (see details)?

He had a great-paying job when we started dating 4 yrs ago, but was illegally fired soon after. He didn't work for 2 years (his choice), and when he won his lawsuit against his old job, he continued to not work. Now, he's stuck taking odd jobs to get by and is absolutely broke. I have no sense of financial security w/ him because of it, and part of me feels really bitter about his decisions. Meanwhile, I work as hard as two men put together, and stay financially independent. I want someone who makes enough that I don't have to work so damned hard in the future. Am I being shallow?

  • If the Big Bang scattered everything in all directions, how did any of it manage to combine?

Wouldn't it all have been travelling away from each other from the central point of the Big Bang? In that case, would some matter have to have developed an ability to change it's course, in order to travel closer to other matter with which it could coalesce into larger and larger objects?

  • So this guy severely beat his dog...?

punched her, kicked her, and beat her with a cordless drill in a fit of rage. Broke off her tail, cracked her ribs, concussed her, and she has a big lump in her neck the vet couldn't identify, among other issues. Someone I know kidnapped the dog, took it to the vet, and had a new owner waiting for it who knew about the beatings the dog has recieved over the last few years.

The dog's owner found out who has the dog and is threatening to take it back by force and kill anyone who was involved in taking it. Yes, actually kill them. He has been in trouble with the law before including a restraining order from a former girlfriend, he is heavy into prescription drugs of whatever kind he can snort or smoke, is know to be violent and currently cannot own any firearms (via probation). My question is can my friend or the dog's new owners get a restraining order to keep him away before he does something violent to them, or do they have to wait until he shows up and tries to murder them? Is there any other form of help they can get or someone they can tell who can help them BEFORE a crime occurs? From what I understand, he's quite serious and I'm afraid for my friend's safety.

  • Help, my pipes are banging loudly!?

It makes me crazy every winter the hot water pipes that heat my house are so noisy; it sounds like there are midgets with sledgehammers in my basement beating on the pipes. What makes the pipes so noisy when the heat kicks on, and how can I make it stop?

  • What's a good action movie to watch w/ my boyfriend?

I'm into "guy" movies but haven't watched any lately. Know of any good ones that have come out in the last year or so that we might enjoy?

  • Do you agree with hunting animals for food?

Humans kill their prey much more quickly and humanely than animals in nature do (we don't tear them apart with our teeth while they're still alive). We've been eating meat for hundreds of years, so we're not likely to stop. Therefor, do you think hunting is an acceptable way to obtain meat, given the alternatives (farming, free-range growing)? And just to stop the hardcore vegans in the crowd from going nuts: we already know you think we're killing 'innocent' lives. Don't make it about that; read the question first.
