How do I keep my hair from sticking out in the sides?
I'm a male and I have Asian hair. It's one of the most extreme types of Asian hair, basically thick and coarse and straight and it just sticks out no matter what and it can't be pushed down like most other types of Asian hair. When it grows out, it just sticks out looks like an afro, but not stylish like one.
My problem is that it keeps sticking out on the sides, which makes my head look like a porcupine and generally unflattering. Other people's hair just falls down with gravity, but mine doesn't and it just stays there. I've gotten haircuts to solve that problem, but 2 weeks later, my hair sticks up again. I need a way to keep my hair down permanently or just for a long time. Basically, I need a low maintenance solution to keep my hair from sticking out, even if it means changing the structure of the hair.
Oddly enough, my hair was quite fine when I was very little, but as I got older, it became more thick and coarse.
4 AnswersHair7 years agoHow do I manage thick, coarse Asian hair?
I'm Asian and I have what everyone calls "Asian hair". It's basically very thick and coarse hair that is impossible to manage. When it grows, it sticks out and makes my head look like a ball. I hate having this type of hair since it's impossible to do anything with it. I can cut it short and have a crew cut, but that only looks good for about a week and a half, then after that, it's becomes a ball or I look like I have the hair of a 60 year old (especially in the pictures). I envy most of my friends who have hair that is actually pliable.
I want a way to soften my hair or thin it so I can style it better. The only way to style my hair is to either get a crew cut or undercut (which won't last for long) or spike it. I need more options to style my hair, even if it means altering the texture of the hair.
1 AnswerHair7 years agoWhy did Roman politics become increasingly disorderly and chaotic after Commodus?
After Commodus, there was much civil war between the emperors. Also, many emperors had short-lived reigns and there was much instability in the empire, as opposed to the ones before Commodus who ruled much longer and lived in a much stabler empire. Along with their short-lived time on the throne, they also had much more rivals and were executed much more often than the emperors before Commodus. Even though Nero and Caligula were bad emperors, the empire never destabilized after they ruled.
My question is, why was their more instability, rivalries and civil war, and chaos among the Roman emperors after Commodus? For example, in the 5th century, the empire went through 20 emperors in the span of 15 years, while in the first century, they had one emperor that ruled over 15 years.
1 AnswerHistory8 years agoGood Galician-Portuguese and Old Spanish books?
On the Internet, I have found many websites and books (ebooks) that teach Old English, Middle English, Old French, Old Norse, Old High German, and Middle High German. No matter how much I looked, I have not found many books on Old Spanish or Galician-Portuguese (Old Portuguese).
Does anyone know any websites or books (maybe digitized books) that I can use to learn the Old Spanish language and/or the Galician-Portuguese website? Also, by learn, I don't just mean the pronunciation of the language, but also the grammar and syntax.
1 AnswerLanguages8 years agoWhat happens when a person is shot in the brain?
Other than the person dying or having severe brain damage, what happens to the tissues of the brain and the skull? What happens to the rest of the body? Does a person start bleeding from their nose (like the dead soldiers in the Civil War photographs)? Does it cause brain trauma (This one might be a bit dumb to ask)?
3 AnswersBiology8 years agoMedieval Manuscript Margin Decorations...?
Recently, I became interested in Medieval calligraphy and Medieval manuscripts. I am planning on making a Medieval manuscript and I was wondering how to decorate the margins. I don't mean any type of decorations, I am referring to a specific type of decoration. It's the type that's found in manuscripts such as the one for Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and Marie de France's Lais. The decoration is just a basic red design that seems to resemble flower pedals or swirls. They also decorate the versal letters too. I think they're quite cool (which is why I want to learn how to make them). I was wondering what they're called, what the technique is to make them, and what sort of specific guidelines are needed to be followed to make the designs. It would be appreciated if you could provide Internet sources because I do not want to buy books right now.
Here are a few links to the manuscripts. What I'm talking about are the flower like designs in the margins and in the versal letters.

3 AnswersBooks & Authors9 years agoWhere can I find recordings of the Song of Roland read in Old French?
I've only found two websites with recordings in Old French. The first one no longer exists and I forget the other one. Does anybody know any websites with recordings of the Song of Roland in Old French. In case you can't find Old French recordings of the Song of Roland, you can also post Old French recordings of other texts.
1 AnswerLanguages9 years agoHow to reconstruct the sounds and phonology of a(n) (extinct) language...?
When I was reading about the pronunciation of Old English, the writers explained that the pronunciation was constructed by comparing the language to other Germanic languages and using the Latin alphabet (because the Anglo-Saxons used the Runic alphabet before switching; the switch to the Latin alphabet showed that the sounds in the language were similar to Latin and other Romance languages). When I read about the pronunciation of Old French, I read that the sounds were reconstructed by comparing the language to other Romance languages of that time and by comparing rhyme schemes in Old French poems. So, how can I construct a language, say Old Occitan, which is a Romance language and (obviously) uses the Latin alphabet?
3 AnswersLanguages9 years agoWhat is the difference between pronunciation and phonology?
When I was learning Old French, I came upon the phonology section in my book and it explained the pronunciation of the language and changes in the pronunciation of the language. So, are phonology and pronunciation two different subjects or does phonology include pronunciation?
3 AnswersLanguages9 years agoWhy did the Roman Empire decline during and after Commodus?
Many historians, such as Edward Gibbons, always blame Commodus for weakening the empire. Many of the emperors that followed him were very corrupt and further weakened the empire. There were a few bad emperors during the Pax Romana, but they were not succeeded by bad emperors. How come Commodus was succeeded by bad emperors?
3 AnswersHistory9 years agoOld French Pronunciation?
I am learning Old French, but I can't find any sources that explains the pronunciation and the rules of pronunciation of Old French. I have a book about Old French, but it doesn't focus much on the pronunciation of the language.
Does anyone know any online sources that will explain the pronunciation of Old French?
3 AnswersLanguages9 years agoWhat happened to the Romans under Odoacer's rule and how was Odoacer's rule like?
How was Rome like during Ostrogoth rule, right after the Fall of Rome.
Also, how was it like as the years progressed. How was it like a decade after the Fall of Rome? Fifty years after? A century after? and so on.
1 AnswerHistory9 years agoWhy did the Fall of Rome occur in 476?
In 476, (Western) Rome falls because Odoacer exiled the last Western Roman emperor and made himself king. Why is this event and year considered the end of the Western Roman Empire? Why wasn't Odoacer considered just another Roman emperor?
There were other small territories that were ruled by Romans, such as Dalmatia. There were still parts of the empire remaining after 476. Also, Zeno still recognized Julius Nepos as emperor and made Odoacer a patrician. Why did the empire cease to exist after 476? Was it because Odoacer gave himself a new title and, with the land of the Western Roman Empire he acquired, declared it a new nation?
2 AnswersHistory9 years agoWhere does Noble Empire Limited get all their information about the mechanisms of guns?
If any of you have the Gun Disassembly (or Gun Disassembly 2) app for your computer or phone, you will know what I am talking about. In the Gun Disassembly program, there is an option which you can select to see how the gun operates on the inside. It shows all the mechanisms and how they work to operate the gun. My question is: Where does Noble Empire Limited (the company that makes Gun Disassembly) get all their information on the gun's mechanisms and how they work to operate?
1 AnswerSoftware9 years agoWhere can I learn Byzantine Greek?
I want to learn how to read, write, and speak Byzantine Greek. Does anyone have any websites where I can learn Byzantine Greek for free without registration?
Also, is Byzantine Greek the same as Classical Greek or is it similar? What was the main script that they used to write Byzantine Greek?
2 AnswersLanguages9 years agoWhy do shotgun shots spread out once they leave the barrel of the shotgun?
If anyone has seen shotgun shots being fired, you'll notice that the little balls in each shot spreads out in a cone shape. When the shots hit an object, there would be a large circle left by the shots.
Does anyone know why this happens (why do the shots form a cone shape when they leave the barrel?)? I know that it's due to the choke, but I want to know the physics involved in the spreading of the shots.

5 AnswersHunting9 years agoWhere can I find a free version of the US Army Thompson Submachine Gun training film?
I'm referring to the film made by the US Army during World War II. I want to obtain the video so I can learn about the gun's cycle of function and how it works. On the Internet, the only way I found for obtaining the video is by buying the DVD for the video. But since it's public domain, aren't people allowed to distribute it for free? So since it's public domain, I was wondering if there are any free versions of that video online.
(You don't have to do this, but you can link me a webpage that has free public domain US Army training films detailing the cycle of operation of firearms.)
I know I am getting annoying with the questions about the Thompson Submachine Gun, but every time I asked, I didn't get any good enough responses.
Now I'm very sorry for sounding too demanding.
2 AnswersMilitary9 years agoWhere can I find the public domain US Army firearm operation training films?
If you go on Youtube, you see all those US Army firearm operation training videos, such as those for the M16, M14, M1 Garand etc. I've always wondered where people get those videos and what those videos are called (what are they classified as?). Does anyone know where people get those videos from?
I also have a few more questions:
Which branch of the Army makes those firearm operation videos?
Are all of those videos public domain?
For the Thompson Submachine Gun training video, which was made in 1942 (I know I'm getting pretty annoying with the Tommy gun), it is listed as public domain, yet the way to get it is by buying it. Are there any free versions of that video (because, after all, it is public domain)? If there are, where can I get them?
2 AnswersMilitary9 years agoWas the Thompson Submachine Gun (and the variants) ever patented?
I am interested in learning how the Thompson Submachine Gun works. I want to know if it was ever patented so I can look it up and read about its functions. If it ever was patented, I need the patent number. If it wasn't, maybe provide me a link detailing its functions.
I know I asked a previous question similar to this, but I am looking for something different in this one.
