1 AnswerGenealogy1 decade agoHow do I get the input for a string in a Java test class?
I know how to do it for a double, i.e
double whatever = in.nextDouble();
for a string is it: String whatever = in.toString();
I tried doing in.nextString(); but the compiler suggested that I change it to in.toString();
Is this right?
Thanks
2 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoHow do I set up strings as attributes in a Java program?
For example:
private String name;
private String cardNumber;
private String expirationDate;
Does this work? I don't know because I can't find a similar example in my textbook.
in the constructor do I create them like this:
public CreditCard (String name, String cardNumber, String expirationDate);
String name = this.name
ect.?

1 AnswerProgramming & Design1 decade agoIs the supremum of a set A in any metric space always a limit point of A?
Is this true? (not a homework question, just studying)
Here is my attempt at a contradiction:
In the discrete metric space (X,d) where for each p,q in X,
p/=q => d(p,q)=1
p=q => d(p,q)=0
given some nonempty set A, every point in A is the Sup(A), but A contains no limit points in A.
Does this work? If not could you provide a suitable counter if the above question is false?
Thanks so much if anyone can help
2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoIs a set consisting of a single point in a metric space (say R) open?
I think that it would be open since a finite set has no limit points.
take the set E={0} in R
E has no limit points so some neighborhood about 0 only contains 0/emptyness, therefore that neighborhood is contained within E.
Is this true?
thanks

I think Emperor's Anthems and IX evoke Sauron and Mordor much better than any of Vikernes' albums.
anyone agree?

5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do churches teach that water baptism literally forgives sins?
If water baptism forgives sins then water baptism is salvation since having your sins forgiven is salvation.
Jesus says that one must be baptized by the holy ghost in order to be saved.
Therefore the churches are teaching a false gospel, and should not be followed since it is emphasized in Ezekial, Revelation, and by Jesus himself that we are not to go to false preachers.
19 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do you think homosexual acts are not sins?
When clearly in Roman's they are mentioned as some of the chief sins. Of course, this question is for Christians, so don't answer if you don't give a crap about the Bible.
Romans 1:26-27
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

2 AnswersClassical1 decade agoCan anyone help solve this PDE: 3Uy+Uxy=0?
Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this partial differential equation using this hint Uy=V?
This is what i tried using the hint
3V+Uxy=0
Uxy=-3V
Uy=-3xV+g(y) (partial integration by x)
U=-3xU+G(y)+f(x) (partial integration by y and subsituting U=integral of V)
then solved for U to get
U(1+3x)=G(y)+f(x)
and finally U=(G(y)+f(x))/(1+3x)
but this doesn't work. If you find take the partial derivatives you will find that it doesn't solve the PDE above.
Any ideas?
thanks
