Have started using dating sites and find that lots of males put down"no answer"for occupation and income. I realise that they may be trying to keep away gold diggers.I'm no gold digger, I'm self supporting.And would like to meet a guy who is also.

Our Social Security, Centrelink, is savage about investigating people who get together with people receiving welfare. I have nothing to hide, but I do not want to be involved with someone on whose behalf I have to declare my income and situation.

How do I find out discreetly and tactfully, from prospective dates if they are able to maintain themselves, or are on welfare?

*left my fulltime job - public service customer liaison - to be with sick husband, after his death went travelling, but ties make this impossible fulltime.

*am single.Men my own age and income who can keep up with me want Asian fantasy or a trophy blonde.

*very fit, administratively competent, computer literate, found easily two jobs in community agencies, in both exploited and put at physical risk by lazy salaried staff who foisted their work on me.

*asked at my sports centre, home to a major sporting club, for volunteer opportunities - offered packing and cleaning sports gear - females have to be young for any other volunteer job!

*after years of care for sick elderly people want to be with all ages and both sexes, some of whom at least are energetic and intelligent! would prefer not to solicit strangers for money by phone, which is what most volunteer sites offer.

Can anyone out there who works in Melbourne in a volunteer capacity recommend a job I can do?

As part of a young relative's wedding, I offered to host interstate guest/s, expecting a couple or sisters, perhaps, because I have plenty of room, but was allotted her college friend, whom I don't really know or like, but I've made her comfortable and feeling welcome.

There have been several parties to which she's gone, to none of which I have been invited except for one tedious kitchen tea. It is not a generational thing, lots of my contemporaries have gone, but they are COUPLES and I am solo.

Is this the reason why I have been left out of the fun things? and am I right in thinking that it is poor manners to invite to your home a guest in a house, and not include the host in that invitation?
