  • Hammer, Torch, and Frogspawn?

Ok, currently I have a decent size piece of each of these corals, but I have them spread between two tanks. And Id like to move them all into the same one. I know these three corals will sting nearby corals, but since they are closely related, would their stings hurt one another? I read someone once that they dont sting each other, but I cant find anything else that says otherwise. Thanks.

  • Small crack in glass aquarium?

Alright, I recently converted another tank to saltwater. Its a 20 long. Today I was hooking the skimmer up, and I noticed a small crack in the back left corner. I can barely feel it when I run my fingernail across it, and its only about half an inch long. So I took a sharpie, and put a dot on the glass where the end of the crack is. That way, if it goes beyond that dot, I know I have a problem.

So as it stands right now, I plan on getting another tank in the near future because I dont trust cracks. But Im wondering if anyone else had anything to add so I could maybe skip out on the new tank.

  • My aquarium ph is 9, but my wellwater is 7?

Ok, in the past several weeks Ive had basically all of my one tank die, and I couldnt figure out the problem. After doing water changes and trying to rule out a disease, I finally took my water to be tested at Petco. I only have test strips for ammonia and nitrates/nitrites. So everything else was fine, my nitrates were a little high, but thats very fixable. But my PH was 9 (it couldve been higher, thats as high as their test showed).

So I bought a test kit and drops hoping to slowly bring it back to normal. I added a few of the drops the first day, and today I decided to check it again. Still high. So out of curiosity, I checked my other tanks (the first one was the only tank with any losses so far). They were all high. So out of another spike of curiosity, I tested my water. That was around 7. I dont understand how it can be 7 from the faucet, then 9+ in my tank.

The tank with the losses contained about 10 bloodfin tetras and 8 or so female bettas when this all started. Now, I have maybe two or three bloodfins that look like they are on their way out. And Im lucky if I have two bettas left. I need to do water changes in them soon, and if these strips are right, Im pretty sure the difference in the ph would send the survivors into some sort of shock, or some other ill effect.

Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Caring for salvini cichlid fry?

Ok, well. I recently discovered that my salvinis were breeding. I never saw any eggs in there with them, so I never prepared anything or did any research. Ive been looking on internet sites for tips and care for the fry, but Im not seeing anything that stands out so far. My main question is what do I feed them? I crushed up a bunch of cichlid flake food and put it in a cup and soaked it in water then just dumped it in with them.

They are in a somewhat planted tank (there were dempseys in there, but I removed them after I realized that the salvinis were pairing off). The tank is somewhere around 45-50 gallons. The temperature is around 80F.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Jungle Carpet Python Enclosure?

After recently seeing a jungle carpet in one of my local shops, Ive been seriously considering getting one of these guys. I have the space for a tank, but what size should it be? I have a 35gallon long tank that has reptile stuff in it that a friend gave me. I plan on buying a small snake, so that should be a good enclosure for a while, right? And as he ages, would something like a 50 breeder be fine for him?

Im just asking because Ive heard different things of what people recommend for these beautiful snakes. So I want to see what people on here would recommend.

  • Betta Divider Question?

Ok, I recently bought another tank so I could have more bettas, but the divider I have is a clear glass. So how would I go about making it... not clear? lmao. Ive thought of buying some aquarium background stuff and siliconing it to the glass. Would that work? Ideas appreciated. Thanks.

  • Savannah monitor questions?

Ok, Ive been looking at these guys for a while. My local shop just got in two savannahs and a nile monitor. Ive already done quite a bit of research on both of them, and I believe the savannah is more my style. Im not sure if Im going to by just one, or both of them. Im going to start them in a 55 gallon. But I have the room to build a large fenced off area in my room for them.

But the main question is... To those who have savannahs, how do you like them? How do they interact between them and you?

  • Frozen fish food. Do you thaw it?

Ok, First, I always put my frozen fish food in a cup of water and let it sit in there for about half an hour. Then, I scoop the portions out of the cup, and put it in the tanks.

But, I recently purchased these little "fish gum drops" they are basically a frozen fish food. So far, I love them. But, their directions literally say just pop one in the tank and remove unused portions. I have some friends that do just that.

I will continue thawing my food in a different container, but out of curiosity, I was wondering what you all do.

  • Convict Cichlid pair eating spawns?

Aight, a few weeks ago I bought a pair of convicts to try to get them to spawn. I was going to feed the fry to my clown knife. Within 2 days of putting them in the tank, they spawned all over one of the tree decorations. So the female guards it... And then they hatch, and Ive got little wriggling fish everywhere. She moves them from pit to pit, eventually ending back up where they hatched, and then they get eaten. Im not sure who eats them, it always happens at night. They are the only fish in the tank. Ive checked everything with test strips, and everything is fine. I cant figure out why they keep eating their spawns. Theyve eaten 4 spawns now in the past 3 weeks.

By the way, they are in a 20 gallon long tank. With the temperature at 80 degrees. The convicts are both about 2.5 inches. The tank is planted with java moss, and amazon swords.

  • Once a fish is "stunted", is there any "unstunting"?

This question is completely out of curiousity.

Once a fish, lets say an oscar, has been kept in a 10-20 gallon for quite some time. To the point of where he isnt growing anymore. Would putting him in a larger tank fix the problem with his growth? Or once the damage is done, there is no repair?

Again, hypothetical. I was just wondering. All of my fish are happy in tanks that suite them.

  • Chemical to fix scratches in acrylic tanks?

I recently bought a 90 gallon tank from this guy. He showed me the tank, he pointed out there were scratches in the front. And one side has loads of what Im guessing is saltwater residue of some sort. The residue wont come off easily. But What concerns me is the scratches on the front. I mean, I know the fish will live, but I want to see him. It literally covers the front of the tank.

He told me there was some chemical that I could buffer into it that should fix most of the minor scratches (thats what most of them are). But I forgot the name of it. It was like Novas 13 or something like that.

Any suggestions with the scratches? And does anyone have any idea about the salt residue?

  • Question about Clown Knife Feeding?

Ok, right now Ive got a 6-7 inch clown knife in a 20 gallon tank. Yes, I know he's a bit cramped. Im cleaning a nice 90 gallon tank out for him but it has alot of salt residue and stuff on it, so he'll be in there shortly...

But I dont like feeding him feeder fish. I mean, he seems to enjoy chasing them, but I dont enjoy buying them and I dont want any parasites to kill the little guy. He wont take to anything Ive tried. Ive offered krill pellets, some frozen bloodworms, frozen krill, and some cyclops granule. Ive seen people talking about weaning other piscivorous fish onto pellets and frozen, but how? Ive tried going 4-5 days with no food and offering pellets, but he doesnt even watch them as they fall.

So any suggestions? Any foods I should try to get ahold of and see if he'll take to it?

  • To those who know about shoplifting charges?

Ok, quick rundown. My girlfriend was caught for shoplifting back in March. She was banned from the said store. She HAD a paper basically saying she was banned from it and saying thats all they were doing. A warning basically. She was 17 at that time.

Her birthday is on October 10, obviously she'll be 18. She got a court notice today saying she had to appear in court on October 18th for the shoplifting incident.

So the question, what can they really do? She was basically already caught for it, and banned. And dont all charges get dropped at 18 anyways? Basically, whats the worst that could happen?
