1. Introduction
The aim of this report is to show what the students of your group can expect to eat in this area and comment on the popularity of the different dishes with young people. The report is based on a survey of 50 foreign students aged between 15 and 23 from different countries.
2. Traditional food
Most of the students agreed that one of the main charms about traveling to Spain is the possibility of eating traditional meals such as paella, gazpacho and Spanish omelette. Many few admitted to look for dishes from their own countries.
3. Money
Interestingly, in despite of not having a big budget, over 60 per cent of those interviewed thought that it is worth spending more money on national dishes than on visiting important buildings.
4. What they think about Catalan food
Several students recognized that did not know Catalan food very much but they agreed that their meals should include some Catalan dishes too. Most of the students were interested in learning more things about the food of our autonomous community. Over 90 per cent of the interviewed were satisfied with calçots and specially with Catalan cream.
5. Further recommendations
As a result of the survey, I would recommend you to chose some of the many restaurants which offer reduced prices but which do not forget traditional Spanish and Catalan food.

Those who claim that saving the environment is not possible should bother looking for information about how that can be done. Personally, I think that there are many possibilities to contribute to take care of the planet at small scale.
Firstly, to deal with the traffic pollution produced by the exhaust fumes, using public transport is known to be the most important measure. For instance, if many of us rode bike every day to the place where we work, the amount of carbon monoxide in the air would not be so much worrying as it is nowadays. Furthermore, riding bike is not only excellent for health but it also helps you to make ends meet.
Secondly, one of the easiest ways to take care of the environment consists of recycling as much as possible. Even if most cities have plastic containers, bottle banks and paper containers and people recycle more and more, a big amount of rubbish is still thrown any which way.
To conclude, fortunately, the reasons for being optimistic exist, as the possibility of saving the environment is within our reach. Many things can be done to save the planet.

I'm sure everybody agrees with the fact that graffiti gets walls dirty. But it's truth that graffiti is almost as common as blinds in the streets of Hospitalet, isn't it? So why is not this problem fought once and for all?
Curiously, graffiti is now less common in the city of Barcelona than it was in the past. But which measure is behind this improvement in the neighbor town? About three years ago, the council of Barcelona came up with the idea of making the writers to pay 3.000€ fines. And the minors drawing graffiti are allowed to do community service hours.
Sadly, the situation in Barcelona shows that punishment is, as almost always, the best measure to deal with little or big crimes. So, if the council of Hospitalet copied these measures, the authors of graffiti would stop getting walls dirty. Also the population wouldn't spend so much money to pay the companies which remove graffiti from painted walls.
To sum up, fortunately, the solution to this problem is within our reach. But will our city prefer to be different from Barcelona in this case too? I don't hope so.

Dear Kate,
Sorry it's taken me so long to write, but as you know I've been operated on and I came back to the house yesterday. In fact, I thought that I wouldn't be able to write until a few days.
Last weekend, my sister passed her driving test, so she and me celebrated by traveling to Valencia by car to see the Fallas. The origin of the Fallas festivity dates back to the ancient tradition of the carpenters of the city, who on the eve of their patron saint, Saint Joseph, burnt unusable waste in front of their workshops. Because of it, the day of the cremà -when the fallero monuments are burnt- coincides with the 19th day, festivity of Saint Joseph, since the XVIII century or even earlier.
Looking at the ninots burning and then falling down was incredible, specially the monuments which looked like Iñaki Urdangarin and other fraudster politicians. Despite that having caused a spectacular moment of silence, immediately the applause of the thousands of assistants was deafening.
I hope you will come to Spain next year during the Fallas, as it's one of the most beautiful and amazing performances I have ever seen. Let me know what you've been doing recently.
All the best,

I'll always remember the first time I saw the sea. Despite not having seen it in all my life, that summer of 1998 I fancied doing something really different during my holidays, so that I decided to travel to Valencia.
In England, I was got to wearing warm clothes during all the year, whereas as soon as I arrived to Valencia, the landlady of the hotel recommended me to wear lighter and more summery clothes. If I had immediately taken notice of her recommendation, I would not have suffered a heat stroke that afternoon.
Despite getting scared because of that incident, I'm sure that the travel was worth it. In the next morning, I felt so much like seeing the sea for the first time that I woke up at 6 o'clock. At the same time that I got closed to the beach, a pleasant shellfish smell came to me. Finally, I saw the sea. It was such a wonderful intimidating huge scenery!

Despite not having watched any of the other editions, when I was a child I would watch the second edition of Operación Triunfo every day. Before having dinner, I used to watch it with my sister, whereas my brother could not stand it. My favorite singer, Manuel Carrasco, took up singing in that programme, and since then I have always bought all his albums.
Half a year ago, in a boring Monday morning, I was reading a book when, suddenly, someone rang at the door. As I did not know who that man was, I refused to open the door. However, I realized that a big envelope had been given to me under the door, so I opened it. I would not have get so surprised if I had not noticed that the envelope was from a popular Spanish TV programme, Hay una cosa que te quiero decir. Someone had asked the programme to put in touch with me and to take me to the programme. I could not stand neither the idea of going to a TV programme nor imaging who this idea came from.
Anyway, I had never been so nervous as the day assisted the programme. And the most wonderful moment was when the big envelope moved and I saw my mother sitting down near Manuel Carrasco. She said to me that, although she was tired of hearing me talk about him and hearing all his songs in high volume at home, she had wanted to give me a surprise. And I promise that I had never been so surprised in all my life.

In the last years, the success of TV series has become bigger and bigger, whereas actors and directors who work in the film industry complain about the drop of the profit that it gets. There are several reasons of this change in the way that people prefer to spend their time and their money.
First of all, despite almost everyone liking the huge screen of the cinema much better than the screen of a TV, the economical crisis has been crucial. In effect, watching an episode of your favorite TV series (or a movie) from the Internet at home can be free, whereas a ticket for the cinema is not cheap enough to allow people to go to the cinema more than once in a while.
On another hand, as far as duration is concerned, the viewers of a TV series get easily caught as they usually want to know what is going to happen in the next episode. However, a film does not allow viewers to know so well the different characters and even to identify with one of them.
In conclusion, despite films being an excellent option just to have a good short time, TV series have more and more success as do not they only include many episodes, but they are much cheaper than cinema.

My favourite sport is going cycling, as not only is it great for health but it also can be excellent for the planet if you use it instead of taking your car. If you are thinking of taking up this sport, I recommend you to stop vacillating about it and take it up because you won't regret.
Do you have at home a bicycle which you would want to get rid of? Instead of it, you had better start to use it. By riding bike for half an hour every day, your legs will get more and more resistant, and your heart will get healthier and healthier. Anyone can go cycling, because any special qualities are needed.
Honestly, I can't stand seeing people who take their car just to do some shopping next to their home. Besides, you can park your bike almost wherever you want, while parking your stunning new car in the town center can be as difficult and dangerous as trying to fly without wings. And as going cycling is free, using a bike instead of your car allow you to save money.
The more you practises going up slopes, the easier it will seem to you. Anyway, I recommend avoiding this kind of spaces until you get used to riding bike more than three times a week. Enjoy your healthy experience!

During the last edition of the festes de la Mercè of Barcelona, in September, there were, as usually, a lot of concerts. In my opinion, the best one was the concert of Manuel Carrasco. It took place the 23th of Septembre in el Fòrum, at about 11 at night.
The whole space was really full, there were hundreds of people singing the songs in unison. Although it was a free concert, Manuel Carrasco sang more songs than all the groups had played before him. In fact, he played about an hour and a half, and he chose both old and new songs, which really excited his fans.
As regards his style, it is could be described an excellent mixture of pop and flamenco, and that is why I like it so much. Just before the beginning of the concert, I got into trouble because I fainted because of the hot and the crowd, by my friend took me out from it and by the moment Manuel Carrasco appeared, I was near the stage again.
I congratulate the local government on having come with him and I thank it very much. That was the third time I heard him singing and I like him more and more.

Anyway, in the company I work for I've met an interesting young Catalan woman and we've become friends very soon. I wake up at seven every morning and get on the bus to go to the English academy where I study. After that, I go to my job and spend 8 hours there. I'd want to get rid of traffic jam, as the bus takes more than an hour and if there weren't so many cars, it'd take less than half an hour in doing my route!
Of course I'd like to go to your new house! I love animals and my boss promised I'd have some holidays in the summer.
I look forward to hearing from you,

Thanks for your last letter. I like my new house very much, though not as much as the yours, as my dream has always been having a farm. The life in Madrid is quite hard, but here I'm not unemployed any more. My new house is smaller than the flat I had in Barcelona, but it's comfortable enough. There is neither a garden nor a farm but I can't really complain as here I've got a job.
The more time I spend here, the more I miss my family and friends. And to be honest, I've not got used to employing some words Catalan people never use, such as botellín instead of quinto, or manchado instead of cortado. Sometimes I can't help complaining because I would rather live in the country than in such a big city.

Hi Peter,
I hope we all enjoy English classes this year. The main reason why I want to study this language is that I love languages in general. Of course, also because English is the most important one nowadays. Besides, I'm studying for being a Spanish teacher this year and languages are very useful to get a post.
By the way, I've to tell you that, unfortunately, I'll not be able to attend your classes from the 12th of February to the 21st of March because I'll be doing my internship in a High School every morning. So, do you think I could attend the classes of another teacher in the evenings during this period?
Although I think it's not very common, what I like most in a language is Grammar. I'd need to practice listening very often and improve my vocabulary, too. Some months ago I watched Big Bang Theory in English and I enjoyed it very much. I'd like you recommend to us some movies, too.
Best wishes,
X

Dear Sir / Madam,
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the terrible conditions of the room where my husband and I lodged in Palace Hotel in Green Square for three days last week.
In spite of the fact that this is a four star hotel -and that we paid a considerable amount for the lodging-, we were served most of our meals one hour later than we had agreed on. Furthermore, two of the yogurts which we took did not have any use-by date on their glasses. It was me who took both of them and, by chance, I suffered from a stomach-ache for two days, which prevented us from going sightseeing as my husband and I had planned.
And on top of all, we were not alone in the room, but accompanied by some cockroaches which did not let us get to sleep. Even though we complained about this, the receptionist did not pay attention to us, as he neither solved the problem himself nor asked someone to do it.
All these incidents, which prevented us from enjoying our holiday in Berlin, bring me to demand an explanation and compensation too. We consider that, otherwise, this hotel would not do honour to its four stars.
Yours faithfully,

Dear Sir / Madam,
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction about a meal my friends and I had in the Great Restaurant in Happy Square last Friday night.
I had eaten in this restaurant twice before, and both times I was satisfied with the service. However, this last time the table we were assigned was extremely dirty, and the more we looked for another clean one, the more dirty the tables looked.
Furthermore, if we had known beforehand that we would have to wait such a long time for our meal, we would probably have chosen another restaurant. After we had eaten the starter, the waiter did not take notice of us as he was talking to a talkative tall old man who seemed to be a friend of his.
And on top of all, one of my friends, whose great patience makes me look up to her, realized that a fly was floating on her soup. Instead of getting furious and coming up with the idea of leaving the restaurant, she told the waiter, who was not able either to take the fly out from her soup or to give her a replacement.
All these incidents bring me to demand an explanation and apology for the unacceptable treatment we received.
Yours faithfully,
