Need masonry advice for an old home city brick home, mainly concerning flashing/weepholes.?

I am going to do some repointing/masonry repair, but I know it's going to be more complicated than that.

There is evidence of water damage, outside efflorescence tells me there is probably inside moisture. There is spalling on some bricks (mainly in lower courses), no sealant between concrete and the building. There are cracks in the concrete next to the building, and concrete is pitched towards the house. I plan to seal those areas, repoint, and replace bricks, but I'm sure other methods of moisture control need to be done.

Also some step cracks on one corner.

I don't see any flashing or weepholes, if they ever existed, the flashing may have deteriorated and the weepholes may have been covered by someone who did some half-a**ed masonry work on the building years ago. It seems like I need to correct that problem besides just doing the repointing/crack sealing.

Some research tells me I need to remove sections (or the whole thing?) and jack up the above masonry courses to install the flashing, basically redoing most (if not all) of the lower course.

Is that necessary or is there an easier/cheaper option? (homeowner only has a 2,000$ budget, I do work cheap, but still)

Besides a recommended course of action, can you provide instructions/important things to know? Maybe answer a couple other questions if necessary? I want to be careful not to do further damage, thanks!

Any suggestions on mortar mix for this old cream city brick, would also be helpful.

  • 270v outlets question?

I am replacing outlets and switches to a different color in my house. I bought a box of 125v outlets, when I went to switch them out I noticed the (also125v) existing outlets had a blue back and say 270v on them. Never seen this before, does that mean I need to replace them all with similar ones or can I just use the regular 125v ones I bought?

    Glass shower door installation question?

A client of mine had a shower installed and bought a sliding glass door sepearate (one stationary glass door; one sliding).

In the installation manual (Maxx halo) it shows some minimum requirements for the shower curb. One requirement is that the shower curb be 1 and 7/8” above the shower pan. Her shower pan is only an inch high above the pan.

Do we need to return it? Doing so would be a hassle, and I just can’t imagine any reason why the curb height matters, after all the track rests on top of it.

    Any insight would be helpful

  • girlfriend got a restraining order on me, 1 year, but she contacted me 2 days after the court case and has been in daily contact ever since.?

We have started going out again despite the court order. She has willingly come over more than a few times. I live in the state of

Wisconsin. Court case was in Kenosha. I am wondering how likely it is I could get in trouble, or her for that matter. I am also wondering how easy, and what steps would have to be taken, to get the restraining order reversed. If she continues contact would that work in my favor if I try to get the order reversed/thrownout ? That is assuming she doesn’t try herself to get it reversed. Which I hope she will do, also wondering how easy it is for her to do so as

    well.

  • Help with manual 4wd and transmission wind up.?

I have a 93 ford ranger with 4x4. Its the 4x4 that you gotta get out and turn the hubs to lock. Somehow one of the switches was turned to lock and the other to "free", and I had drivin on it for a long time before noticing. I read that jacking the car up and putting in reverse while in 2wd (rear)can get rid of transmission wind up. I did that, but the wheel is spinning for like, ever. AND the back passenger tire is spinning way slower than the driver side. Its like stop and go, really slow on that side. Thinking maybe something like a locking nut or o ring or something is broken on the passenger side but really I have no clue.

  • How much to charge to rent one room out?

House is worth 86,000, nice neighborhood too. Rent would include use of fridge, living room, kitchen. Bedroom already has bed, dresser, etc. Wondering what a good rent price would be.

  • Cancer is impossible to cure, right?

Ok, so cancer is formed from mutations in DNA that cause abnormal cell growth. If cancer is caused by DNA mutations, doesn t that mean its pretty much impossible to cure?

I mean its not like we can just stop our DNA from creating mutations and even if we could that would be wrong/unnatural/blasphemy to God/nature etc.

I mean this seems like common sense, but there are still millions of Americans that waste money on trying to find a cure for cancer....I don t get it, someone with knowledge on this please tell me if they think I m wrong or right and why.

  • Probability of being hired as a cop with possession and speeding tickets?

A couple years ago, in college, I got caught with marijuana. Since then I have also gotten a few speeding tickets. I would like to be a cop, in Wisconsin, and I'm wondering if those past mistakes are going to hurt my chances, and how much they will hurt my chances. Planning on applying at gateway tech if these prior incidents won't hurt my chances too much.
