  • Which teeth are toughest to extract, top or bottom teeth?

I have had dental problems for years and am currently having them all resolved. (YAY!) Last week I had two extractions done on the upper right side. They were HORRIBLE and took forever to get out. I was a nervous wreck when he was done. Today, I had one extraction on the bottom right done. It just popped right out!! Next week, I have to have three more extractions done on the upper left this time. All of the teeth being extracted are molars (and all the previous ones have been molars) and this will complete my needed dental work.

Are my upper left extractions next week going to be horrible again, like my upper right were? Or will they be easy like this bottom one was?

  • My hcg levels came back at 115,000 today and I'm right at 7 weeks, give or take a day - is it too high?

Doc says it falls in the normal range, but it's in the pretty HIGH normals. I'm terrified it's a molar pregnancy. ... Could it also mean twins? I see a lot of people saying their numbers were around 60,000 at the 7 week mark, which would make mine seem REALLY high. Anybody have any input, or experience with a molar pregnancy or twin pregnancy?

I go for an ultrasound tomorrow and another round of blood labs on Friday ... I'm just too anxious and can't wait.

  • What does Wal-Mart check for before they hire you?

Hubby is trying to get on in management with Wal-Mart. He has a pretty rough credit history, including a defaulted-on credit card from 6-10 years ago. He has NO felonies or crimes or anything other than minor traffic tickets otherwise. When Wal-Mart does their background screening, will his bad credit keep him from getting hired?

Any info helps, but I'm hoping for answers from people who *actually* know what they're talking about because they work for Wal-Mart. Thanks!

  • My 13 month old daughter is passing yellow stools with undigested food in them only 5 hours after eating?

Yes, I know, I am going to take her to the doctor tomorrow. Anyhow, I noticed a few weeks ago that she had a BM at dinner that contained undigested cherry pieces FROM LUNCH!! I just attributed it to a GI bug because her stool was a little loose - figured it was just a virus. Then last night, her stool turned yellow and got quite a bit looser and left a diaper rash. Today, we had zucchini at lunch, and the pieces of zucchini passed in a yellow fairly loose stool LESS THAN 5 HOURS LATER!!! They were still the same bright green color they were when she ate them - they were TOTALLY undigested. She's had 2 or 3 BM's today, all very yellow and somewhat loose. To me, it just seems like if her food is going through THAT fast, then there's no way she could possibly be absorbing nutrients from it. Everything I read says digestion should take 20-30 hours, not five!!

She's average weight, like 30-40%, following the same curve she's been on since birth. She's not vomitting, not running a fever, doesn't seem to feel bad, and she's eating and drinking just fine. She's got plenty of energy, enjoys playing with her big sister, and generally seems fine until you see the contents of her diaper. She's also breastfeeding still - about 5 or 6 times a day still.

Has anyone had this happen to their kid before??

  • My daughter's eardrum might have ruptured? Should I take her back to the doc?

Ok, so my 11 month old started running a fever last Friday. She ran one all through the weekend, and although she had no other symptoms, I was pretty sure it was an ear infection. Took her to the doc on Monday, and they said her right ear was pretty pink and her left ear was too blocked with wax to see. Gave me antibiotics to do the "wait and see" thing for 48 hours. (If it doesn't get better or gets worse, then start the antibiotics.)

She's definitely doing BETTER, though not 100% yet, and today I'm noticing white drainage from her right ear. White and goopy, kind of. Everything I read online says that white drainage from the ear is a sign that the eardrum has ruptured and that is a good sign, and that it should heal on its own in a few weeks.

So ... I happen to own an odoscope, and upon inspection of both ears, neither is red or inflamed anymore. Her left ear has a nice, shiny, reflective (that means it's healthy) eardrum looking back at me. Her right ear is too filled with drainage to see the eardrum properly.

I've been putting homeopathic garlic/mullein drops in her ears (they're meant for ear infections) but the bottle says to stop putting drops in if her eardrum ruptures, which is what I think happened.

So, do I take her back to the doctor, or just do more wait and see? She's already doing better.

  • College tuition financial aid question?

My friend is wanting to go to college but her parents don't want to have to pay too much. They are applying for financial aid. They own two houses (given to them by relatives who passed away) that they rent out. They also own two other properties that are just small pieces of undeveloped land in the middle of nowhere. The father is on disability and the mother doesn't work. Will they qualify for a lot or a little? Will owning the properties mean that they qualify for less financial aid?

    Thanks, any info helps!!

I want one of those tiny little diamonds in it, nothing over the top, just nice. I can't decide which side to get done. What do you think, and why?

  • My toddler is in pain?

My toddler wakes up in the middle of the night crying, and says her cheeks hurt?

She's 2 1/2. She has problems sleeping in general as she wakes up almost every night at least once with a bad dream or something and needs comfort from Mom or Dad. But for the last week or so, she's waking up crying and she continues to cry. I ask her if she has an "owie" and then I ask her to point to it and she rubs her cheeks. Is it just teething or is it something more serious? It only seems to bother her in the middle of the night, and she's able to sleep restfully after a dose of Motrin.

  • I think I have a severe breast infection, possibly a breast abscess, but the doctor blew me off this morning?

Has anyone out there also had one of these?

First off - I'm nursing and 8 month old and I've had about 5 or 6 total cases of mastitis between my two kids, so I know what it feels like, and what I have right now is 10x worse. It started as just pain in the breast and a high fever and chills on Thursday. Then moved to higher fever, more pain, and throwing up on Friday. On Saturday, I noticed a lump in my breast. I called in to the doctor, who prescribed antibiotics over the phone. Yesterday, I was running a 103 fever (after over 48 hours on antibiotics and with Advil in my system!) and the pain is excruciating. I called and made an appt and went in today. The doctor today was not my usual doctor (who's a woman) - it was a man, and I've never seen him before. I took painkillers and 800mg of ibuprofen late last night because I was so miserable, and I think those carried over into this morning's appt. He said I had no fever, said "are you sure it's not just a plugged duct? Was it redder than this in the past? I think we should just wait and see." and felt around on the breast and said he didn't think it needed abscess treatment (drainage).

I'm in SEVERE pain, still running a fever, still no change in how I feel. I think the meds I took last night detracted from my symptoms this morning because I actually felt pretty good this morning! The hard lump is bigger than a kiwi. I really feel like I have something more serious than just "wait and see" since I've already been on antibiotics for three days and nothing is happening!!!!

Should I make another appt tomorrow or what should I do?

  • My '02 Dodge Grand Caravan engine has started making a loud humming noise all then time when it's running?

It just started doing this (or I just noticed it) today. Other than this noise it runs fine. It's not a high-pitched hum either, it's a medium-low tone and it's coming from the engine. Anybody know what this could be and how much it will cost to get fixed?

  • What are some activities I can do with my bored 2 year old?

I'm a stay at home Mom with an infant and a 2.25 year old. She has plenty of toys but gets bored and acts out. We usually read books and play with playdough. She likes to watch Nick Jr shows, but I don't want her watching TV all day. What are some fun, fairly easy, and fairly cheap (or free!) activities I can do with her to help her have fun during the day?

  • 1995 Ford Probe engine heating up?

The car's engine gets really hot when the AC is turned on. It doesn't heat up as fast when the AC is on low, but it still heats up. It was checked out by a mechanic, but they couldn't seem to diagnose the problem. It's 90 degrees outside - I need some AC!! - I don't want to pay another mechanic to find nothing! Can anyone give me a suggestion?

  • Could this be early signs of labor?

I'm 38 weeks and a few days along. I'm due for a C-section next Tuesday, so a week from today. This morning at 5am, I woke up all crampy and with a stomach ache. I got up and drank some water (I'm also insanely thirsty) and went to the bathroom, but I've still been all achey ever since then and was never able to go back to sleep. Now I'm crampy and have an almost constain pain/cramping in the very top of my uterus (I think) and I've had one or two contractions all day, but not with any regularity. I also do have some lower back pain, but I usually have lower back pain so I'm not sure that's anything different. Is this just an exciting (ugh) last phase of pregnancy or could these be early signs of labor and I better get prepared? I never had this feeling with my first child - she was induced. Thanks!

  • What's happened when my emotions just aren't behind my faith anymore?

I was raised Christian and was really strong in my faith in high school, fell away during college and had some wild away-from-God days, and then since have come back to the Lord. I believe in God - I still have annoying questions/doubts that pop into my head from time to time, but I've TRIED and there's nothing out there that can take away my faith completely. So I know at least that I believe and WANT to be a "hardcore" Christian again. It's just that my emotions aren't welling up inside of me when I sing praise songs and when I read and in my daily life like they used to in when I was in high school. Is that normal? Is there something I can do? Is this just a phase that I'm going through?

  • My toddler fell and hit her eye - how can I keep it from being a black eye?

My 21 month old fell and smacked her eyebrow area on the coffee table. I'm not worried about a concussion, but the area is really red and starting to swell. I put ice on it for as long as she would let me (about one minute or maybe two). I don't want it to swell her eye shut or give her too much trouble. What can I do?
