  • What are our rights as S corp minority shareholders?

My sisters and I were recently notified by a half-sister that we own 20% of an S-corp through our father who has passed away. My half-sister and her husband want to buy our shares (that we didn't know existed for the past 14 years),and offered us $54,000 total. We told them before we can make a decision that we will need the corporation's tax returns for the past several years and their financial records. So far they have given us the 2011 and 2010 company tax returns. What we've seen is that they are paying themselves $180,000/year, paying their five employees a total of $160,000/year, and retained around $10,000 in company net profits. They didn't make any shareholder distributions as far as we can tell. This all seems incredibly unfair to us. My father has been dead for the past 14 years- why did they just now tell us? And why are they paying themselves such exorbitant salaries while retaining so little for the company? The tax benefits they would get by giving themselves smaller salaries and taking draws from the company would be significant--so it seems to us as though they are purposely trying to keep us from gaining any money from the company.

Does anyone have any advice for my two sisters and I? We are kind of at a loss of what to do....

  • Dead Animal Smell in Car?

Today I was driving along, when all of a sudden, this HORRIBLE smell filled my car. It smells like a rotting, dead animal. And the smell isn't going away!

My question is, why did the smell come on so strong so suddenly. If there is a dead animal in there, wouldn't it have gradually gotten worse, instead of been super strong all of a sudden? Has anyone had this happen to them? If so, what was the cause?

  • Why won't my husband look for a job?

My husband is 36 years old and has only held one job in his entire life for more than one year (and he held it for about three years). He quit his last job to start his own business, which he has been doing for over a year now. The most he has made in one month is $800 before deducting any expenses. Luckily I have a decent full-time job, but we are barely scraping by. But he will not look for a regular job! WHY??? I'm so frustrated and so resentful!

  • Have you ever had mice in your home?

  • How can I know if my mice are all gone?

I live in a BRAND NEW TOWNHOME that we bought just under a year ago. Also, we have a cat. So you would think there's no way we would have mice.

Last week, I saw a mouse run under our refrigerator, so we bought a bunch of snap traps and caught him that same night. He hadn't gotten into any of our pantry food and I couldn't find mouse poop anywhere, so I thought he was a loner. BUT I left some traps out just in case.

Then yesterday, my husband calls me at work to tell me he had just killed another mouse in our kitchen! I still had traps out, but none of them had gotten him! When my husband checked our pantry (the place he found the mouse) he found a bunch of poop and my flour had been gotten into. We also found mouse poop in our silverware drawer of all places! There was also a tiny hole in by the floor of our pantry (which is inbetween our kitchen and living room- all interior walls) by the poop so he sealed it up- I really, really hope thats where they were getting in, but now I'm so paranoid! How many other mice do we have?!?! How do I know if we've gotten them all? This guy obviously didn't get caught in any of my traps, so there might be others as well that are also avoiding my traps. I'm so paranoid, I don't even want to go in my kitchen. I have two young children too, and I'm afraid to let them go in the kitchen because I don't want them to accidentally find mouse poop somewhere and get into it... YUCK!!!!!

Any suggestions anyone can give me would be really, really appreciated!

  • Am I likely to catch Toxoplasmosis?

I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant and my husband and I are looking to adopt a cat, but I know with that there's a big fear of toxoplasmosis. However, I grew up with cats that were indoor/outdoor cats. We sometimes had three at a time, and I often had to change the litterbox. Also, there were alot of wild cats in my neighborhood that our cats were around. So with all of that, isn't it likely that I'm already immune?

  • Do you believe that once you've cared about someone, you will always care about them at least a little?

For example, I still care about the exes who I was in love with, even though I wouldn't necessarily want to be with them now. Anyone else?

  • Why are my eyes always bloodshot and a little yellow?

I've been wearing contacts for about 15 years, and in the last couple of years I've noticed my eyes always seem bloodshot. Also, looking in the rearview mirror of my car the other day on my way to work, I noticed that the whites of my eyes are also a little yellow. Could these both be related to contacts, or allergies, or maybe something with my liver? My skin isn't jaundiced at all, but I had undiagnosed gallbladder problems for years. I finally had it removed in June after my OBGYN diagnosed gallbladder disease. So maybe it is that? But if my gallbladder caused some liver damage, shouldn't it be healing by now? I'm kind of a hypocondriac, so I'm trying not to worry TOO much, and I'm not sure if I should see my doctor just because I feel like I already go there too much (hypocondriac..yeah). What do you think?

  • Are these symptoms serious?

The past couple of days I've been feeling a little lightheaded and tired. I have a little cold that my daughter passed on to me, but nothing too major. Then yesterday I started having some little chest pains. They only came on for a couple of seconds each, and were really mild, but they felt like they were behind my breastbone. So now I'm kind of worried about some kind of heart thing, but I'm only 25 years old and my family doesn't have a history of any heart conditions. I want to have my doctor check it out, but at the same time, I'll feel dumb if its just something like a cold.

  • Why is my car alarm randomly going off?

This morning when I got in my car, my car alarm just started going off. I pushed the button on the FOB and the doors locked, and unlocked, but the alarm wouldn't stop. Finally it did on its own, but when I started the car, the alarm started going off again. I drove to work anyway, with the alarm going off, and it stopped after a few minutes. When I went to park, it started again. What is up? Its a 2002 Honda Civic LX, about 106,000 miles on it and its the factory alarm thats going off.

  • Why doesn't my husband like to make love?

I'm really frustrated and wonder if anyone has any advice. I've been married 4 years and my husband and I have hardly had sex the entire time. For religious reasons, I waited to have sex until we were married, and maybe I anticipated too much, but we didn't make love even every day on our honeymoon (after NOT ever having sex before). As newlyweds, we did it maybe 1 or week or so. Now its down to once every month or two! I try different things to turn him on, but he always has an excuse like "I'm too tired", "I'm too full", and my all time favorite "I have informational momentum" which basically means he has his mind on something else that he's doing (usually playing on the computer). Cheating is not an option for me, he thinks toys are disrespectful to him.Seriously, I'm horny all the time and I can't get him to do anything for me (which is probably why I'm always horny).Plus, when I do get him to make love to me, its always fast with minimal foreplay,& I've never orgasmed! Any advice?
