  • Continuity from balun?

I have been having trouble getting a signal from an old outside 4 bay tv antenna so i took it down to take a look at it. I took off the balun and ran a continuity test on it and im not getting a beep from threaded grounded coax end to either ribbon lead wire (with u shaped connections) on other end. Nor am i getting continuity from positive end to either ribbon lead wire. So im not getting continuity from input to output on the balun, with a typical multimeter. Is the balun defective?

However i am getting continuity when i test from lead wire to lead wire...both ends that connect to the antenna. The balun/transformer doesnt have anything printed on it except the word "archer".

So would this be normal for this type of balun? Or is it defective? Just not sure if its just old or if this is typical for this type of balun.

    thank you

  • What is that latch/pin on a latch assembly?

I was installing a doorknob on my door and I noticed that pin, and was wondering whats it for. That small pin/bolt that pushes in and sits in front of the latch bolt on the interior side of an exterior door. What is it and what is it for? Seems like it would operate fine with out it. thanks.

I don't have high speed internet in my area, so I'm thinking about getting high speed by satellite. Anyone familiar with satellite internet? Like who would be a good internet provider? Monthly costs? Reliability? Are there limitations? I don't download a lot on the internet just need highspeed internet. I posted this question in a different category and didn't get much of a response. So thought I would repost it here.

    Thanks for any advice

  • Why can I record some commercial dvds and not others?

I can record some commercial dvds on my dvr and some I can't. Why is this? It doesn't matter if it has that copy-protect symbol on it or not. Is there any way to tell what type of encryption a dvd uses?

  • Whats the difference between car fuses with two different styles of filaments?

I had a 15 amp fuse blow in my car so I got another 15 amp fuse for it but I noticed that it had a Z shaped filament instead of a U shaped filament like the others in the fuse panel. Just want to make sure I dont have the wrong type fuse. Is there a difference between the two?
