marriage with my father. She loved someone else, but her mother threatened to kill herself and kill my mom if she doesn't marry my father. She was 17 at the time. Also she never asked for "isma" which allows her the right to get a divorce if necessary. In Islam, the husband usually has the right exclusively unless the woman asks for "Isma" during the engagement. My mother was young and didn't. Fast forward 23 years and my mother is miserable. She says she never loved my father, but they used to be at least civil. The major problem is my father is a gambling addict. He's also possessive, controlling and stubborn as hell. Like a lot of addicts, he doesn't think he has a problem. He works near downtown, so he goes to the Casino everyday. My mother has even tailed him a couple times and she's seen him in the casino parking lot a couple times. He still denies it though. He refuses to divorce my mother and refuses to seek help for the marriage or for his gambling problem. Just this morning my parents were having their usual morning argument and he actually threatened to kill all of us- my mother, us kids and himself. He actually went to his closet, where is where he hid his gun, before we changed the location. So I think he's very mentally unstable and would kill us if necessary. My mother is scared, but doesn't want to do anything drastic, because of us.She thinks if she leaves, he will hurt us. I really don't know what to do at this point. I'm getting depressed. My father is getting worse as he ages. I'm 22, I should be worrying about my schooling and career, not about my parents martial issues, but that's all I think about. My mother is miserable and I can see it on her face. Like I said, only my father can initiate the divorce and when I tried talking to a sheik, he just said give me his number and I'll talk to him. That will do nothing though, because he'll just not answer his phone. What can we do to get away from my father because at this point he's not willing to change. What the heck can I do to get out of this hell? What can I do to help my mother, brothers and myself?

PS please no bs about Islam and stuff. This is a rare case of an arranged marriage, just so happens it's my family. I just need advice please.

she says she is, so his friend said that he'll call me and sees what ill do. I got a call yesterday at 3 am but it was a restricted call. I didnt awnser because I was knocked out asleep but when i woke up that morning I saw one missed call, unknown, but i didnt think nothing of it. It wasnt till later I found out, now my boyfriends mad at me because his friend is lying and said he talked to me and we were having a conversation and basically i wasnt being faithful, but, i know I was asleep didnt even awnser his call. How do I prove that Im innocent and I didnt even talk to him, to my boyfriend??

been trying to convince her but it seems like when it comes to that school she couldnt be more stubborn, seems like i've tried everything, what can i do to make her let me go to that school??? PLEASE HELP!!
