Mommy@!
Not much. Usually only on here from boredom.
What do you call the cinderblock low wall things that jet off of porches next to the front steps?
Most aren't made from flat cinderblocks but the decrotive ones used in foundations? I probably sound a little dumb here but do they have a name? My house was built in 1901 and it has them, so does my neighbors 1911 home and my grandparents 1920's home, and lots of other houses in our neighborhood(most buildings are 1900-1925 or so). Lots of people put flower pots out on them. I can't think of a better way to explain them, maybe someone knows what I'm talking about and can help out? Thanks so much.
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoGiant crib bedding debate?
My daughter is two now and about ready to get a 'big girl' room. She's already in a toddler bed but we are still using the crib bedding and that theme. With her new furniture, we are going with a different, 'big girl' theme that will carry her into her teen years with little work to personalize.
So the question comes in here: DO I KEEP THE CRIB BEDDING OR SELL IT? Here's my mental debate.
A: She's our first baby. I spent months picking out the *perfect* crib bedding and bedroom theme. I spent hours painting and applying decals to her room, a labor of love, be assured. Its her first bedding, the thing I am going to most associate with her as a newborn. I should store it forever and offer it to her when she is older. Its in pristine condition and I would store it and make sure it stayed that way. (no leaky basements or dusty attics)
B: Its was a very expensive and still desirable bedding set. We went to the nines and made everything match. Down to the wipes container! I still have extra wall decals and a gallon of color matched paint. It would be a complete bedroom except for the furniture. (which I would never sell, much less buy a used crib) The money made from it would more than cover the price if new 'big girl' twin bedding.
So, I'm wanting some opinions as to what others would or have done in my situation. Did you keep it and store it, sell it or give it away to someone who needed it. What was your logic? Thanks!!
8 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoAny good ideas for a home loan?
My husband is in the military and getting out soon. Due to a loophole we do not qualify for the VA loan yet. We want to buy a house before he gets out but we can't seem to find loan to suit us. His credit isn't great right now but its not bad. He has a 611. It will be over 620 in a couple months but we'd rather not wait that long to get a loan. We want a loan for about $25000. We also don't have too much saved up, but we will have at least 20% soon. (I think we have a little over 10% now)
My question, are there any types of loans he might qualify for? Any suggestions at all would be helpful. In Illinois. Thanks.
5 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoWhich one of the following is a metaphor?
"He's as sneaky as a snake." or "He is a snake."
Try to get a little input on this. Its a question in a board game and I'm pretty sure the answer is wrong. Thanks.
4 AnswersHomework Help1 decade agoSherman's March To The Sea? (Civil War)?
So, i just finished reading "Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All" and in the very last chapter it mentions something about if you were in an airplane flying over the land that Sherman burnt that you could see a strip of land where the trees where different colors showing where it had been burnt. Now, I have never heard of this before and I was wondering if that was possible at one point in time? It makes some sense that it *could* have been possible because the use of charcoal in gardens can make your plants greener. I was wondering if it was actually true or the use of poetic license by the author? Thank you!! (Any pictures would be great, if there are any)
1 AnswerHistory1 decade agoToursit-y stuff in Eastern NC coast?
Like in the Wilmingon/ Jacksonville area? I'm looking for a boardwalk with some rides maybe? Within a 30-45 minute drive? I've been told there is a boardwalk in Emerald Isle, but I can't find any information on it. Thanks.
1 AnswerOther - United States1 decade agoStory about North Carolina Railroads?
I'm looking for a story about when the railroads in North Carolina were being built. Some railroad workers killed a few other immigrant workers and buried them in part of the railroad. Anyone know what I am talking about? IT was in a place called 'Cinchwood' or something like that.Thanks.
2 AnswersRail1 decade agoBurning after C-Section?
Four months after c-section. Burning around the incision site. Is it the nerves, maybe? From what I understand, its normal, but how normal? And what are the 'go to the docot' warning, besides redness and swelling, which I have none of? Thanks.
2 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoBreastfeeding and C-Section?
Does anyone think that having a c-section helps you keep at breastfeeding due to the fact you are so doped up it doesn't hurt as much those first two weeks?
In other words, do c-section mothers have a higher success rate with breastfeeding compared to natural childbirth? Success rate as in not giving up due to pain, not because of physical inability?
I've been thinking about this the past couple of days. My daughter had a latch on problem where she crushed my nipple between the roof of her mouth and her tounge. It hurt like nothing else, and I think had I of not been on the morphine drip, and the percocet, and the motrin, that I probably would have given up with it after the first day or so.
Anyone else have an opinion on this?
2 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoAnyone else find this rather funny?
http://www.jdnews.com/news/restaurants_62796___art...
I found it very stereotypical, but still really funny...... And I'm sure all the Marines on Lejeune do, too. I know my husband did. Of all the restaurants there....didn't know where to put this, and didn't want to get some of the people on here started with the rascist thing...... it is still funny.....and the Broasters is really good.

2 AnswersOther - US Dining Out1 decade agoFetal Dopplers, did you research them?
I've been thinking about this since I was pregnant. Do women using these things know how dangerous they may be to their babies? I was going to get one, but after doing some research, I decided there was no way I was gonna use them. So, did you research them, or assume that just because they were being sold, that they were safe?
And I quote from a reliable government site:
" "Although there are no known risks of ultrasound imaging and heartbeat monitors, the radiation associated with them can produce effects on the body," says Robert Phillips, Ph.D., a physicist with FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH). "When ultrasound enters the body, it heats the tissues slightly. In some cases, it can also produce small pockets of gas in body fluids or tissues." "
" "When the product is purchased over the counter and used without prior consultation with a health care professional, there is no oversight of how the device is used and little or no medical benefit derived from the exposure," Phillips says. "The number of sessions or the length of a session to which a fetus is exposed is uncontrolled, thus raising the potential for harm to the fetus." "
5 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoNet books, what do you think?
I would like to get a net book, problem is I don't know too much about the specifications and whats good and all that....can someone help me, please? There are two I'm considering. Could someone maybe take at look at them and tell me their thoughts? Or any other suggestions? I have about a $500 budget for one, and can't get a Dell (husbands rule, don't know why...). Ohh, and I want it for internet use, communications, Netflix Instant, storing and editing photos, and I'd like to put The Sims 2 on it, but that isn't necessary.
Thanks for any help.
